I love men in uniform which is the main reason I liked CLOY. So I searched for other military dramas and got Descendants of the Sun. Unfortunately, that thing was insufferable bore! Instead of focusing on missions, it was dragged by bad romance (solider and doctor, solider and chaebol-heiress-LARPing-as-solider). I had to drop it. Can someone who's seen You Are My Hero and Descendants of the Sun tell me whether I would like Hero if I didn't like Descendants?

I must admit I'm increasingly starting and dropping dramas. If a drama has romance in it you bet it's going to be overlong and overwrought. I get impatient with filler and just give up. The last dramas that I really enjoyed were Kingdom (S1 and S2), Sweet Home (S1) and Alice in Borderland (S1). They were all short and too the point. I'm thinking to wait for Mouse to finish and then binge on Viki if it retains the level of excitement that it supposedly have now.

I assume they will steamline the plot (example: no unnecessary detours such as Captain Ri's extraneous fiancée and her mom) which would be great. I love him precisely because he's so manly! Him and Kim Sung-kyu have the look for old times of chivalry. I can't stand sageuk genre because they usually cast pretty boys who cry buckets and there's no way men in those times emoted like they are starring on telenovelas. So Kingdom is the only sageuk I can stomach plus I'm big on zombie genre.

Yes FL was bad. I noticed that drama FLs tend to be annoying and worse than MLs in general. Don't know why but outside of Bae Doona in Kingdom I didn't like any FL in particular. Sweet Home ones were passable but upstaged by Song Kang, Lee Do Hyun, Lee Jin Wook. The male trio was real reason to watch that drama.

Yeah, I have never seen a drama/show so completely biased towards the leads at the expense of everyone else and any logic whatsoever. They even wasted the very last episode on a bizarre fawning over ML so much so that guests at the engagement party were singing hosannas to ML not to the engaged couple. Peak ridiculousness.
