I've watched Western movies/series for a very long time. I discovered Asian movies/dramas and I've dropped all…
I hear you . as far as ongoing Western dramas go, I only stick with The Crown and occasionally check out a limited series such as The Queen's Gambit and Wandavision. But no long term engagement anymore. I turned to foreign dramas and find them much better and more to my taste. That's a big advantage of streaming devices such as Netflix. Variety of foreign content. Also Viki for Asian content that Netflix doesn't carry.

everyone wants a piece of K drama pie. It's a huge phenomenon globally and in America so once Netflix started…
Kingdom is a Joseon zombie drama so if you are into horror you are in for a treat. It's so well done with zombies actually being a part of the political plot so it's well integrated. Also, Ju Ji Hoon and Kim Sung Kyu are so manly and sexy great respite from pretty boy types that populate dramas.

I love Netflix dramas Kingdom and Sweet Home but absolutely hated Extracurricular (Booooooring), Love Alarm (ditto) and have dropped Navillera for the same reason. So I'd say American studios are great with dramas that require SFX and action but outside of that they aren't superior to home-made dramas.

While I agree with everything you said, I'm also kinda tired of watching lame love triangles written by 52-year-old…
Death to love triangles! After the triangle torture porn that was True Beauty, I made a point of checking a drama only if it's certified triangle-free. Exception: Sweet Blood only because the bisexual vampire is so sexy and I just skip everything except his scenes.

I see your point but I think that American K dramas have advantages such as shorter episode time. I find it really…
Define originality. Personally, I don't like stereotypical leads, too many subplots that don't have anything to do with the main story, ridiculous chasteness (fish kissing and fuss whether to hold hands or not ugh that doesn't look real for teens let alone 30somethings) and audience feedback deciding the course of the show that often result in a drama starting as one thing but ending as something I didn't sign for (see Uncanny Counter where I was interested in evil spirit hunt but it turned into a political diatribe about ecology).

WTF DISNEY+ KDRAMA????
everyone wants a piece of K drama pie. It's a huge phenomenon globally and in America so once Netflix started to make them other streaming studios followed. Amazon is making a big budget drama with LMH, now Disney Plus is jumping on the wagon and Netflix has a large number in production since they increased their Korean budget to 700M or so. of course, they will continue to carry Korea-made dramas as well especially if starring big names (Vincenzo, KTEM)

I've said this once, and I'll say it again, there's a reason why people moved away from watching Western tv shows…
I see your point but I think that American K dramas have advantages such as shorter episode time. I find it really hard to sit through dramas whose episodes run for an hour and a half while the content does not justify such padding. Also, when it comes to fantasy, budget makes a huge difference. Compare Kingdom to something like Tale of the Nine Tailed and it's like night and day. Netflix budget fully realized Kingdom's world-building potential while TOTNT fell way short and looked ridiculous when doing SFX stuff.

So yeah it's a double-edged sword. Nobody wants an American drama in Korean language but budget and (in my case) sensible running time are big pluses.

Putting Lee Do Hyun in "New" Actor is absolute BS. He should be competing in Actor. It makes no sense that he's still treated as a newbie even though he has career mileage. And he damn sure should win in any category.

None of River/Moon/Whatever cast should win anything but they are going to rig it cause the showrunners announced it will be submitted for International Emmys. LOL as it could win anything there. It's a Poor Man's Mr Queen (as in sageuk) that got lucky due to Mr Queen controversy. Still, its ratings are half of Mr Queen's and it isn't nearly as acclaimed. And no I'm no Mr Queen stan, haven't seen a single episode, but I know how highly regarded and popular that show was until the smear campaign.

Extracurricular acclaim baffles me. I thought that she drama was boring beyond reason, it didn't deal with sex trafficking but wasted time on whether the catatonic, expressionless ML was going to get busted. Zzzzzz. Also, FL's acting range was giving evil side glances and more evil side glances even in scenes that tried to make her sympathetic. I honestly thought it was the same actress who played the evil spirit host in Uncanny Counter lol.

The rest is fine I guess.

I didn't like Descendants of the Sun. I kept forcing myself to watch it but the FL turned me off. I almost finished…
Awesome. I skip surgeries on any show so this is an easy one for me. Stared watching and is good so far.

JYS is stunningly beautiful and classy so why she always gets pizza girl/"FL's wallpaper BFF who can't attract a hot guy" roles is beyond me. Her Instagram is the best I've seen because she has such a sophisticated taste. Should be a FL in a cinematic art like French movies that she likes so much. Also, her English is impeccable. Look for overseas work, JYS, if Korean industry doesn't know what to do with you.

New episode is up and it was much more of the sexy badboy vamp. Kim Ji Woong is just terrific! I watched without subtitles and will rewatch with them just for him. His character always has the best lines.

many idols are actor and he's done a great job on Sweet Blood which cannot be said for the rest of the cast. ML…
ah ok. yes, they are usually introduced as ASTRO's CEW, SF-9's Rowoon etc which is annoying to me cause I learned about them as actors first and then that they were idols in second tier bands.
