I still don’t get the hype of director Kim Hee-won. Other than Vincenzo, the rest of the dramas she’ve directed…
Most dramas have "top reviews" with lower scores because those who didn't like a show vote them up, and they accumulate more votes because there are much fewer of them. (Some of them are hard to take seriously as well, like the ones giving it 1.0 because it didn't resemble the book it was just loosely inspired by).

I guess I'll have to take your word for it. Though I suppose it wouldn't surprise me if some people struggled with a complex drama written by the genius behind some of Park Chan-wook's best films. Its audience reviews do not suggest very mixed feelings, but there are always some detractors.

That sounds like a rather subjective assessment. The finale hit double digits in ratings in South Korea and it did very well on Netflix, spending several weeks in the non-English Top 10. It's well-rated both here and on IMDb despite being review bombed by angry Vietnamese people. It was nominated for four Baeksang awards, including Best Drama. So I'm not sure what metric you use when you say "many" people were underwhelmed, other than something purely anecdotal.

Her direction of Little Women was excellent and rightly Baeksang nominated.

First saw Jung Hae-in in DP last year (I know, I'm late) and recently watched (and loved) One Spring Night. Will probably watch Something in the Rain next - and I can't wait for this in August!

huh how does that work
Clearly not. This drama has already telegraphed in its first two episodes that the way forward for him to be honest and then be accepted by those who care about him, which is how the webtoon went as well, from what I've heard.

Oh I'm fully expecting it to be My Demon all over again with haters being obsessed and camping in the comments. Not even talking about quality, just hype and watchers. Big hits make people defensive and many love to pretend they are above and "better than" what's popular.

ML last drama was in 2021 and FL in 2022. So I want to know if there was a specific reason for their hiatus or…
This was originally meant to air late last year, so there wasn't really that much of a hiatus. Filming just took longer. They've been filming since early 2023. Also, actors as high-profile as the two leads here won't just do any project; they will wait for the right one to come along.

Wow the screenwriter really loves Kim Soo Hyun. He's been in four of her dramas lol.
I can't blame her (or him for picking her scripts).

I really liked that one. Understated and classy.

any news about the airing date?
Rumored to be back half of Q2, so mid-to-late May or June. But not confirmed.

Sometimes you forget just how many weirdos exist in the wild, completetely unhinged and deeply triggered simply because a Korean drama dares to include a queer character in the main cast. Oh well!

As long as he doesn't end up dead, I won't hold my breath for a love interest.
I don't trust Korea to actually give a gay character a happy ending, but I'm hoping they will. The character is written well so far, at least.

Well, considering his brother hasn't been honest with him, how is he supposed to know what is going on? No wonder he is confused? Most hyungs would be grateful their brother is fighting for them to be successor of a company?

I hope they show some BL skinship or at least some romantic interest for the gay 2ML. Tee Hee Hee.

Li ji Han is annoying and selfish. For being the main lead, he’s giving side character personality.
Selfish? Ji-han? Who bought all of grandma's vegetables so that she could go home early? Everyone can tell he's going to develop into one of the greenest flags ever. And I will eat it up.
