Not too surprising that the tv ratings dropped. Yichan and Eungyeol were kept apart for both episodes, and there was so much Sekyeong/Eunyu this week, when it's the family that is the heart of the show.
i agree!! i think comedic things aren't his forte! he's better at acting serious
I feel like I'm in upside down land. Comedy is his whole thing? He's excellent at it? That's why he keeps getting cast in roles like this one and 2521. Even in Weak Hero, which was an overall very serious drama, he had so many great funny scenes, whether he was slapping Jihoon's butt or shoving lettuce in his mouth. His characters are brought to life in large part due to his comedy, even in his more dramatic roles.
i just noticed that choi hyun wooks acting strength lies in action sequences. hes very good in action scenes.…
I don't see that at all. He's great at the emotional beats and made me tear up several times in episodes 7 & 8. I actually think it's even more impressive how he manages to stay true to the character's playful, funny nature even in those more serious scenes. It works for me at least.
It refers to the literal cookies that the plot revolves around. From trailers it seems the cookie packaging says "Hi Cookie", but the romanization for the show's title seems to officially be "High Cookie", maybe a play on how the cookie creates some kind of high when consumed.
Still really enjoying this, though my main issue is that I don't really care about Sekyeong/Eunyu. Like I just want more scenes of Eungyeol and his parents instead, so like the start of episode 7 had me impatient.
What will ya say about Kim Yoo Jung she was literally 16 at the time of filming of love in the moonlight 😂🤔
That worked well though, she was playing a young (fake) eunuch who was 18. This role is a much more adult one for Hyunwook, so I can't blame him for passing on it.
Just because we don't see anything listed as upcoming doesn't mean he doesn't have a full schedule. He could be…
Oh, I'm sure he's got stuff lined up. But I'm nosy, I want to know what the projects are.
But I don't think he would reject a major drama offer like this just because of ads or meetings. Those can be rearranged. So I'm guessing there's another drama that he will be doing instead, or that it's just a nicer way of saying he doesn't think it's right for him now.
No sane director would rescind an offer for a drama because of a cigarette butt, not even in Korea. His agency also wouldn’t be allowed to frame it as him rejecting the offer if the offer was actually rescinded.
I’m sure it’s true that it’s a scheduling conflict. But with what? He has no confirmed upcoming dramas that haven’t basically finished filming? High Cookie has wrapped, Twinkling Watermelon wraps this week. Hopefully a new project will be announced soon.
I do wonder if he maybe felt it’s too soon at 21 to take on adult romantic lead roles, and that the ‘conflict’ was more about him not feeling this was the right time for this project. But who knows.
Disney+'s kdrama collection is mostly just dark thrillers and here's another one to join the league
It's the same with Netflix. Thrillers are more popular globally, because romcoms aren't as popular elsewhere as in Korea. Squid Game, All of Us Are Dead, Extracurricular, Sweet Home, DP, My Name, Bloodhounds, Black Knight, The Glory, so many of the Netflix originals are thrillers too. Most of the romcoms on Netflix are not originals, but dramas airing on JTBC/tvN etc. in Korea.
I love him as an actor. I tend to not like the darker dramas, which is probably a good thing, because none of…
They should be on Disney+ globally, except in North America, where they are on Hulu. Sometimes it can be difficult to find them, because their search function is a bit shitty.
