Oh yeah, back story is obviously important. But some seem to think we're never returning to the present and won't see the kids again, which is absurd.

I don't think showing events that happened decades ago necessarily has more depth. The stakes are also lower, since we know where they are in the present. The stakes are higher in the present with the kids, especially after the exposing video, and that narrative consequently felt like it had more urgency and potency. The past is the past.

That probably would have been better. Waiting a week for two episodes about Joo-won being a gangster and romancing a coffee lady was not quite worth it in my book lol

Of course the story will return to the kids later on. I don't understand why people are so insistent on saying it's just about the parents. It's clearly about both, you can't untangle the new generation from the old. Once we've caught up on the past, we'll return to the present.

Character posters are out. With every new still, I really am impressed by the look of this show. It seems like the production values are high and that the costuming is on point. So ready for this!

You underestimate the power of negative attention. Especially in Korea. There's a reason why there were whispers of cancellation, even if the production company denied it.

You can apply for permanent residency when you've been in the country five years on a long-term visa. That's for foreigners, and since he was born in the country and is proficient in the language, it was probably a piece of cake.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I much prefer AHS, and can't wait to see him in this.

I also found them the weakest so far, especially since the preceding two with Mi-hyun and Doo-shik were excellent in my book. But I just don't care too much about gangster stuff lol

The BL elements are between two high school students, one of whom possessed by the gangster. Also your generalization of BLs is both gross and inaccurate, and reeks of homophobia.

Definitely not watching this. Will not encourage this kind of straightwashing of BL source material.

Just terrible to straightwash a BL like this, but also not surprising that they would do it. I will not be watching, and I hope the drama will do poorly. I don't blame the actors, but it's just not right.

I can't quite explain it but the actor who plays Doo-shik reminds me so much of Park Bo-gum. Like he could totally play his older brother or father (just 12 years between them but still) in a drama lol

Do we know how many episodes? 16?

His past has been revealed. His ex disappeared and he was charged in a murder investigation. He's since claimed a new identity and up until now covered up with a mask in public, to avoid being recognized as the suspect from that case. What we *don't* yet know, is what actually happened to his ex and who was responsible. And that is obviously something that would be revelaled in the second half of a drama; it's way too early to reveal that in the first half.

A handful of people have given low ratings to episodes that haven't aired yet. Nothing new.

It's based on a Korean webtoon? Also, Korea is known for their thrillers, though perhaps more often in film. Such as Memories of Murder (and don't forget the excellent kdrama inspired by it - Beyond Evil), or Decision to Leave. It's great to see more k-dramas in this vein, since the tradition in film is so great. So all this whining about catering to Westerners seems odd to me.
