You clearly don't know what manipulation is. In no way or form did Kou ever manipulate Futaba. Narumi was there…
And if you think he is wrong for trying to be the emotional support of a friend (getting taken advantage) smth he didn't have then I am really wondering what type of friendships you have. Same with Futaba asking to be rejected. I think most of us would've acted the same way in Kou's position. Anyway all I am saying is that he is a good kid just imperfect and not your typical perfect prince charming.

You are misusing the word Manipulation yet you can't describe how he manipulated her. I read what you said but it doesn’t add up with what we saw, Kou always loved her, wanted to be with, he acted before Touma + Futaba dated (which is what made Touma rush Futaba in the 1st olace bc he knew he was aboit to lose if Kou would get to her as he tried to fix everything) and Kou's overall characters. In your eyes if basically a villain when is a flawed teen that makes mistakes, learns and grows like we all do. Yes he is flawed, made a mistake but it's good he did. He is 16 years old yet you expect him to do everything right, never mess up or actually try to understand his character.
Okay, so we get "a friend to all is a friend to none" Kou who was trying so much to be nice to both girls that…
Honestly it's weird bc in the manga Kou explains hownit was never aboit Narumi, that he had 0 intention of being with her and it's the guilt he was feeling for moving on from his mother's death. They completely changed that?? When Kou never chose Narumi.
Sorry I am Austrian so I am quite direct 1 but I don't think telling someone they lack reading comprehension is a big deal under a terrible take like the 1 you replied to. Kou isn't a bad guy and neither did he manipulate Futaba, he got emotionally manipulated by a toxic friend and fell into misery where he couldn't see clear.
Touma on the other hand manipulated a vulnerable girl for his own gain.
I mean Touma is pick me that manipulated a vulnerable girl into a relationship because he saw kou trying to fix…
Now I gotta disagree. Touma is a guy who purposely took advantage of Futaba's vulnerability and pressured her into a relationship. He even asked his friend in the manga if ut's okay to take advantage of her lowest. The moment he saw her sad it was all about him, hos opportunity and how to get it. He didn't care about her happiness, kept pressuring her, making her feel guilty promises her time only to then demand an answer bc he SAW kou making his moves. He was too afraid of losing.
While it's understandable to feel frustrated with Kou's behavior, especially in his treatment of Futaba, I think…
It seems you really misunderstood. Kou has no intention of being with Narumi ever. He tried to help her through the pain- be the emotional support he never had when he lost his mother but it backfired since it relapsed his own trauma.
He knew a relationship wouldn't have been right his current state that's why when Futaba asked he rejected her as she wanted to be. In the manga we also see him reach out to Futaba but she pushed him away after Narumi got into her head.
I have been in Kou's position, sowly lost my father to cancer- he wss a 12 yesr old dealing with everything by himself who was abonded by both his bother and father. Kou had no one.
The Japanese way of storytelling can never be replicated by any other country. They have their own beautifully…
I mean Touma is pick me that manipulated a vulnerable girl into a relationship because he saw kou trying to fix everything. He is more fitting or worthy- I'd even argue he gets what he deserves.
It's the way ppl lack reading comprehension, have the worst takes and fail at understanding Kou for me.
The guy always loved Futaba, waited years to meet her again, noticed her in the hallway and did everything so she'd fall for the new him. The guy is obsessed with her, wanted to be with her but thought she didn’t like man at first and that he didn’t deserve to be happy, to cry or move on from his mothers death. It was all goint good till Kou heard that Narumi was all alone like he used to be. She manipulated him thought his trauma and he saw "little Kou" in her. He fell into a state full of self-doubt, fears, self-hatred and guilt, guilt for moving on from his mothers death, fear of hurting futaba in a relationship (explained in the manga) and doubts of being allowed to become happy. It's thanks to Futaba his hero, he could finally see clear that being around Narumi will only harm him and that time was standing still. In the manga he even tried to talk to Futaba but she pushed him away after Narumi got into her head despite Futaba's impression being true. She drags Kou down into his past not the future.
We then see Kou trying to fix everything but Touma rushed Futaba and demanded a yes because he was afraid of losing. Now kou isn't perfect but neither a bad guy, he is imperfect, a flawed teen that tried to do his best.
I just picked this up on Viki. Watched the first season, then straight on the 2nd. Well I get Kou had a trauma…
You clearly don't know what manipulation is. In no way or form did Kou ever manipulate Futaba. Narumi was there for him when no one was after he moved away and had to deal with his mother's death alone. He knew her pain and how it is so have no one- he sees himself, little Kou reflected in her which triggered his trauma and made him fall into misery.
It was more about Kou than it was ever about Narumi. He is stuck in self-doubt, guilt and self-hatred, afraid a relationship would harm futaba and survivor guilt for moving on from his mothers death. It's only thanks to Futaba that he saw clear again, realised time wasn't standing still. He isn't evil.
SO did they adapted those annoying parts from manga ? The part where futaba starts dating Touma bcoz kou is confused-frustrating…
Man how did u even read the manga? Touma manipulated the girl into the relationship it was never about making Kou jealous and Kou is a good guy if you understand his POV. Narumi triggered his trauma, he saw himself in her and fell into misery where he thought a relationship would hurt futaba and that he didn't deserve to be happy. He felt guilty for moving forward and prioritizing his mother less
I really don't like how they glorify Touma in this drama compared to the manga where he flat out admitted he took advantage of her vulnerability and pressured her into the relationship but at least we see how he saw Kou trying to fix everything then rushed Futaba bc he "suddenly couldn't wait any longer" despite promising her time. The kiss, the answer is all bc he fears losing to him despite knowing these 2 love each other.
What? How is Kou annoying. He is a good guy just imperfect, flawed and grows by making mistakes. He fears a relationship…
And why does he roam around Narumi? Simple, because (in the manga) Narumi manipulated him though his trauma and pulled him back. She was there for him when NO one was so he sees himself in her and falls further into misery. Kou even explains that he doesn’t want to ve with Narumi romantically. In the manga she triggeres his trauma, Kou falls into despair and thinks a relationship would hurt Futaba, feels guilty for moving on from his mother's death and prioritizing her less. It was never about Narumi but Kou and Futaba, his hero shows him that time wasn't standing still
What? How is Kou annoying. He is a good guy just imperfect, flawed and grows by making mistakes. He fears a relationship…
What makes you think he doesn’t know what he wants? The story started because Kou noticed her first, tried to get her attention, flirted with her and even got bad grades to be in her class.
The ml character is so annoying for real his character became more annoying in season 2 my blood boils when he…
