On douban there are a lot of Novoland adaptations that have been announced but then never filmed, and many are based only on rumours :( probably this title had the same destiny... I checked also weibo too, but there's info only about the book, nothing about this drama...
Thanks for this article and for your recommendations! In the last few weeks I've seen half of the Chinese movies listed here, while reading your article I had a feeling of looking at the "Completed" section in my watchlist šš
haha, chosen for its cuisine, yeah I can believe that XD Yeah, the gloomy atmosphere created by the fog and the…
Wah! Thanks, always happy to watch shows set in Chongqing ^^ I've watched many movies only for that XD [Just checked, Crossfire was shot in Guangdong, Sisyphus in Chongqing]
Hmm, Chongqing will forever remind me of AvenueX's quote: 'Chongqing is the Gotham of China'. How appropriate!!...…
haha, chosen for its cuisine, yeah I can believe that XD Yeah, the gloomy atmosphere created by the fog and the huge bridges is perfect for thrillers. I think that Chongqing is actually suitable for any type of show, but I've always felt that the vertical structure and the different layers on which the city is build would be a perfect setting for dystopian worlds or those types of chaotic fantasy realms ;)
Your article made my day when it was initially posted, and now I finally have the time to properly leave a comment.…
Thanks a lot for your comment :D Love the fact that you enjoy the less "glowing" side of Chongqing, superbly highlighted by the opaque atmosphere of Long Night and Chongqing Blues! I'll have a look for sure at your other recs!
About writing on other Chinese cities, I'm not sure. Apart from Beijing and Shanghai, the other cities that I know quite well are not famous movie locations, so it's a bit difficult to find enough shows set in those places... But I'm thinking about doing a sort of article-tour around China, picking one movie or series per province (something like this https://kisskh.at/article/j-drama-national-tour-part-3-011013621) or focusing on one area. Still, it would be a long-term project, since it takes a lot of time collecting all pictures, movies and data ^^''
It looks so beautiful. I always wonder where Chinese dramas and movies are filmed but Iām always too lazy to…
Sometimes (especially in dramas) they make up names for imaginary cities and districts, or film in different locations, so it's not always easy to understand where a movie was actually shot ^^'' Moreover many shows are filmed in studios, especially in the Hengdian World Studios (if you have a look online, you'll find a lot of amazing pictures. It should be one of the biggest or the biggest of the world), but, still, China has really great places suitable for film making. When real landscapes are used, the artistic value of the show increases a lot ;)
I would love to go here someday! thanks for featuring Chongqing! Lou Yizhou (YWY3) is from here (I think) Would…
Would love to, but I've never been to Shenzhen so it's a bit more difficult for me to recognize the settings and write an entire article about it XD Maybe I'll try making a sort of tour of the whole country through movies and in that case I'll find something about Shenzhen ;)
thanks for sharing!! every time I see chongqing on my screen, it always makes me want to go! will have to learn…
Thanks for reading ^^ So nice to know that there are a lot of people that love this city :D Agree, Better Days is really a masterpiece and I Belonged to You's aesthetics are really on point :3 Another great view of Chongqing is in the movie A Writer's Odyssey https://kisskh.at/32010-assasin-in-red. It's an action-fantasy movie, partially set in Chongqing and partially in an alternate world. The transition between the two worlds is majestic (I watched it after submitting this article so it was not included here...)
loved the highlight of Chongqing in this article! Chongqing has been on my radar since a couple of years back.…
Thanks for reading ^^ Yesss, it's difficult that Chongqing goes unnoticed in movies, but in I Belonged to You they really reached the top, every scene was so aesthetically pleasant! Hope you'll be able to visit one day :D
