Zaddies everywhere!! 😩

My plan to watch list is a fantasy at this point. What’s worse is this past year I went back to mostly watching western shows after many years and have a massive backlog there too because I missed so much plus there are oldies but goodies I always wanted to watch. It’s just too much television and I have to remind myself how increased the watching habits can affect physical health in the long run (I just try to move around more and do little exercises while watching ha).

Episode 5 was absolutely brilliant, I was so immersed that I was shocked when the credits started rolling.. Also, I’m done with this comment section, I don’t mind different opinions (actually appreciate them because they can be insightful and add depth to my viewing experience) but I feel like I’ve been watching a completely different drama this entire time than many commenters on here. I’m just confused and actually shocked at all the unnecessary drama surrounding this show.

Also screw anyone that is taking out vitriol on the actors on social media directly or indirectly. What is wrong with people?

It’s such an overreaction. Anyway, I hope we get more seasons to watch their relationship and the characters grow.

I hope if there’s a 2nd season, it is ignored by international viewers who find the main couple “problematic”. It’s just all SO over the top and exhausting, I never would have imagined all this…now the actors are getting vitriol too and for what?! they should stick to the cute, fluffy jdramas where ever gay person and relationship is wholesome and perfect. The discourse is not even interesting for the most part as it could be with flawed, multidimensional characters. I’m over it.

Yeah I genuinely wish this is a drama that was ignored by international viewers. Never thought the discourse around it would be this exhausting, it’s so over the top.

ETA: any idea about the reception in Japan in terms of ratings or buzz? Heightened engagement or interest (even if it’s judge mental like with foreign audiences) is still generally good sign for networks. More BL jdramas are getting 2nd seasons or movies so I’m hoping this one does too.

Yep, don’t care an iota about the negative comments this will always be a legendary BL drama. 2016 was epic for me, started the year obsessing over Addicted/Heroin and ended it obsessing over Yuri on Ice!

Can someone be honest? Is there alot of drinking where they’d basically be alcoholics in real life? Binge drinking scenes being normalized is something that I really do not like about Korean shows due to personal experience. I don’t want to watch a show where this is glamorized but I hear this is good, is there a balance where there is negative consequences to their drinking or where it doesn’t take over the show?

I’ve actually noticed in more recent BL mangas that characters are clearly identifying as gay and living as gay men as opposed to being “straight” then falling for a guy. I think there will be a shift where mangakas move a bit further from the fantasy aspect of BL especially when LGBT issues become a bit more mainstream in Japan.

Let’s be real, many of these people came into this drama high off fluffy fumes from Cherry Magic and Kieta Hatsukoi, both of which I love(d) too, and were expecting something similar. I’m glad we are getting something different and much more inherently flawed characters who from what it sounds like will experience a serious journey of growth.

It’s not that old lmao…and he looks like he’s in his early 30’s to me especially looking at his Instagram and the way he carries himself. The man is fine.

I actually started laughing when I saw someone compare it to the Japanese movie where the doctor holds the main character captive and sexually abused him in ways I thought I would never see in a non pornogrpahic film…just ridiculous overreaction.

Genuinely flabbergasted by comments on here…talk about overreacting, even the bullying is pretty tame! Anyway I’m enjoying it, I’m really liking the special relationship they are developing…they are becoming each other’s safe haven. Hagiwara has found his life muse in Yagi also, he’s overwhelmed by everything about him but he also needs to understand Yagi is human and not perfect and infallible like he exhalts him to be…he wants to keep him at arms length because he feels he is not worthy which is extremely sad on its own.

Anyway please don’t let the comments or ratings turn you away (including mine) watch a preview or if you were already curious just give it a try for yourself. Another example of why I only use this site for drama info and tracking nowadays..
