I wanted to watch this after all the episodes finished airing, but then I read that the main female character…
Xiao Yao is selfish in some aspects but not all. She was a doctor and cared for and saved many people, including 2ML Ye Shiqi/Tushan Jing and 3ML Xiang Liu. You could say she is selfish (and hypocritical) in that she desperately wants her ideal person to give up everything for her, never abandon her, and always put her first, no matter the circumstances. She constantly expects them to make the first move instead of just doing it herself.
I think a more accurate word to describe her is "cynical." While she does care about people, she struggles to trust them fully as a result of her traumatic past. The only exception to all of this is 1ML Cang Xuan because they are family.
XiaoYao's heart is firmly fixed on TuShan Jing from the beginning.... she's just discovering what he really means…
I know damn well you didn't just say "firmly" when Xiao Yao herself even admitted that she never fully trusted Jing at the beginning lmao. She is just like Tian'er, making a bet that her affection towards Jing will eventually turn into something more. And it's mostly the novel, not the drama, that makes us believe YaoLiu love is mutual and real. The drama watered down and removed too many of their scenes just to promote the official CP.
This is what Wen Xiao Liu said about Tian'er and Chuan Zi's relationship in Ch 4 of the novel:
"Tian Er doesn’t believe Chuan Zi will want to be with her forever so right now she’s giving him all fake affection. But the more Tian Er is nice to him, the more Chuan Zi is nicer to her. The fake affection will gradually be mixed with real feeling, and as a lifetime passes even the false becomes true. But during this process it’s not without risk. Tian Er is gambling with her heart and if Chuan Zi dared to discard her then one of them is going to end up dead."
I remember being so excited for this when the trailer first came out. How refreshing it'd be to finally see Yang Zi play a much more mature character in a costume drama. But who knows if we'll even be able to see it 💔
I usually only replay Xiang Liu/Fang Feng Bei's scenes and now I'm finding myself replay Xiao Yao's pancake scene too. I'm still upset about the major changes but this one scene is just too good. They really told my girl Yang Zi to stuff pancakes in her mouth while crying and SHE ATEE (literally lol). Plus the fact that it was one take? No cuts? Absolute perfection.
Lol, that whole scene was so ridiculous. I honestly believe they made it on purpose, to embarass Jing even more.…
I felt the same. When Hou and Yiying were going off with their monlogues, I thought, damn I hope Jing's running away right now. But nah... dude decided to watch them like an NPC, not to mention stand so close to the waters! You can't fight? Okay fine, I can let that slide. But you can't even TRY to escape?? Sorry but that sounds like a you problem at that point LMAO
How do the three dramas fit into a trilogy with each other? Skate into Love seems so out of place between this…
They're not supposed to be connected in terms of storyline or genre. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way they're connected is by their producer Liu Ning and similar production teams (ex: screewriters, directors, and OST singers like Sa Dingding, Mao Buyi, and Liu Yuning). Basically, they saw how successful Ashes of Love got and decided to make more dramas together, calling them the Honey Trilogy.
Also, I heard rumors that the team originally wanted Starry Love's leads to be the leads from both Skate into Love (Janice Wu and Steven Zhang) and Ashes of Love (Yang Zi and Deng Lun). But due to scheduling conflicts and later Deng Lun's tax evasion controversy, they ended up casting other people (Landy Li, Chen Xingxu, He Xuanlin, and Chen Muchi).
i just started this drama it’s really good so far but i’ve been watching some edits does anyone know who she…
It's because Xiang Liu will get a TON of character development. Plus, he and Xiao Yao have the most chemistry and exciting scenes. I was in your shoes as well, I originally shipped her with Ye Shiqi, but after seeing Xiang Liu's selfless love and sacrifices I jumped ship so fast lol. Keep watching.. Maybe your opinion will change later, maybe it won't.
(Also, the reason why Xiang Liu flogged her at the start is because he's the general of a targeted and dying army. You can't expect him to be kind to anyone. A complete stranger stepped in his territory, poisoned his bird who btw is immune to most poisons, and lied about their identity. The fact that Xiang Liu only flogged and not killed is already a very lenient punishment.)
Absolutely agree, I have not watched that part yet only on ep 15, but there is no way I am watching, what have…
No, that scene was one of the horrendous additions added in by the drama.
The dialogues and circumstances are vastly different in the novel, but it's true that Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao talked at the ocean, and it's also true that Jing found her there when Xiang Liu started leaving. However, the conversation leading to the kiss scene and Xiang Liu feeling it were not in the novel.
I think that's what a lot of us find annoying regardless of who you root for. XL and XY has plenty of cute, romantic…
This right here. They always gotta include Xiang Liu, Jing, or Cang Xuan when the scene is meant to be or should be for only one of them smh. Like I love seeing Xiang Liu, but if the scene is unrelated to him or is obviously created for pity points then I'd rather not see it at all tbh. I often think about how many times they must've told Tan Jianci to sit in the clam shell, drink some wine, and look sad while they film him lol.
Totally agree with this, I don’t see the issue with sticking closely to what was already written like they did…
Yes! The one thing I loved about Lost You Forever was that it was different from typical dramas. All the characters and relationships were complex and we could see how their past experiences shaped their futures. But then they decided to alter so many things that resulted in everything feeling one-dimensional and so, so boring.
The acting is no doubt the best part of this drama. Such a shame they were given a poor script. And all that wait just for this... (ToT) I really wish they followed the novel. Even the tiniest change in details can make a huge difference.
Regardless if you're a Jing or Xiang Liu stan, or Cang Xuan or Feng Long or Xiao Yao or anyone or even none, I think it's safe to say we all agree that this season isn't up to par with what we were hoping for.
I've seen a lot of Jing fans complain about Xiang Liu constantly being included in his scenes, and that since the production team is so "biased" towards Xiang Liu, they should just make him the end game. As a fan of him myself, trust me when I say that we or most of us Xiang Liu fans are incredibly disappointed by the changes too. We do NOT want or need to see Xiang Liu feeling Jing's kisses. Whoever decided to add that scene, I hope you sleep with one eye open every night for fhe rest of your life.
I don’t understand why they made so many changes in the back half of the drama. Someone else alluded to it being…
"The new 40 episode rule doesn’t even make sense because they could have made season2/Part 2 40 episodes and not had to edit out/cut down scenes."
Exactly my thoughts.
I'm a Xiang Liu fan but even I'm appalled at how they handled Jing's and Cang Xuan's scenes. They're butchering everything and everybody, nobody is safe!
I didn't even realize ep 11/50 included a supposed-to-be proposal scene until I read the comments on here LMAO. Jing at the house, "I plan to propose to Xiao Yao here." Switch to XY and CX scenes. Jing brings XY to the house but before he can say anything, XY suddenly interrupts and thanks him, saying, "Our wedding will have to wait." Like.... did I miss something? When did he propose? In the novel, XY never interrupted him.
no but fr... yay we got express!! but at what cost 😭

Xiao Yao is so delirious in ep 18 that I felt scared by her ngl
