I think its too early to feel disappointed about romance in this drama, FL has priorities like finding the reason or person responsible for her family's murder and she knows ML has some clue of what happened but for some reason cannot divulge all that he knows. He is intelligent enough to get an idea of the situation.... We can see there is a trust growing between them but its in snail pace... due to all the secrecies.. but a strong bond will grow between them... this is a mystery drama.. so main focus is that...!!
But I can understand, when the crocodile attacking scene, bailu helps him up those boxes... was a bit difficult to see.... poor fellow was so helpless...

IMO This was a very emotional and very right way of admonishing by a Mentor/ Master. She was totally ruled by emotion when it was Wanshun, very difficult situation. HuaiJin tried to persuade her....
It was heartbreaking to see a tiny child sitting a in a corner during his father's funeral and everyone abusing and throwing stuff at the father..... The child artist name is Qiu Yihan, he is not mentioned in MDL ... i think this must be his first drama... but he had such emotional expression on him....

Yeah..... me too just loved that drama, I would have given it a 10 but for the last 10 episodes... which had Zhi Wei going totally went out of character... and that ending....! still loved it... all the actors did a wonderful job, plus the settings. costumes.. everything was top notch..!

I liked S1 for the simplicity of characters and character relationships and the story..... I think that was the saving grace even though it was a poor production, bad lighting etc...
I really like the relations and understanding of Jin Yu and Jin Yi, Chu Chu and Leng Yue... and the elder brother... Not seeing much of him in the second season...!
But I am grateful the dual toned Eunuch is dead and gone.... such a creepy character...! I think the emperor is on better mood becoz this guy is not there to poison his mind....!!
S2 I started and seeing better make up, dressing.. also age and maturity in each actors.. 5 years made a diff....

First season, she was a country bumpkin with no exposure to people, society or etiquettes... so she looked that, and she grew up with grandfather and father and only exposure to the outside world was through Prince Consort whom she worshipped.... she learned and was good in her job.. nothing else mattered... First half she was very good... second half she didn't have much to shine.. I think..
That Grand Eunuch Qin Laun is something else..... creepiest of all... what an actor.... my head was spinning with his singing and laughs when he was put in jail..... cringe worthy character.. and he did a top class job..!!
This is a good example of positive effect! But wasn't there one that Xi Gua did not like and she passed it on…
For me also thats the turning point, he decided to let go of the accident issue from his heart... thats why he promised not to behave like that anymore... Best is he always asked... hope you remember... and she looks totally clueless....

There is a mystery in the beginning which makes the ML bitter and suspicious of the FL... then from ep 8, the ML reluctantly try to overlook, but it takes a lot of time to clear this, then in ep 22, things clears up...
There is a lot of discussions and meetings, on their business which is Photovoltaic (PV), ... and things related to it.. I was amazed seeing the Solar Panel farms ... in China, when ML took a break and went researching.
I like the slow pace, then the family... esp the FL's family relations.. all those makes it such a feel good drama.
For me the drama became interesting from Ep 8... I was not impressed with her college life and her friends....
