I agree with you. I thought them as a couple was very boring and attribute it to a lack of chemistry.
The rating is only for star presence of BaiLu and Cheng Lei, I was so looking forward to seeing their drama. I happen to see a clip of the scene BaiLu being discovered in AMA, my goodness.. whats acting she did in that... I think thats my first BaiLu drama...
Recently I watched "A Splendid Match" which was exceptionally done by all the actors in that especially the three main actors who are not as famous, but their acting, their emoting and story leaves such good feeling. Bit similar to TFJ, Main leads gets married early on, like in ep 28, its a 40 eps drama. Their life is so realistic, just like two newly married couple so much in love. The ending was happy but lacking, some loose ends too... but still I cant seems to be saying enough of the good things..
For me All actors are good, some dramas I like their Characters... in some they just dont click.
Bailu and Cheng Le could have chemistry with anything or anyone they act with, but I felt lacking in TFJ, the characters were very detached .. there was no intensity / longing in their relation or in their life.. I feel she cared about that wind chime more than Mo Xiayo, The only reason I kept watching till the end was to find out what exactly happened at the academy. Cheng Le was wasted.. Han Ming Xi/ Lin Muran.. where did he go...? Cai Zheng Jie had more emotions than everyone else...!!
It started so well... with a lot of mystery.. then it just disintegrated... The Academy and surrounding gave me a "The Demon Hunter's Romance" vibe... then I realised.. the directors are same in both...
IMO, Simon Gong / Gong Jun was exceptional as Wen Ke Xing, such a dramatic character . Lu XiaoFeng which i think is similar... he really shines in those roles.. so I am lookin forward to this drama release!!

Same here... the min i saw that mother interfering in his game, i have stopped watching them... what a drag that whole family were.. initially a lot of screen time given to them... Luckily we all could erase them but didnt without making any impact of the main story...

My theory is that LYF's father is very wealthy and, eventually, that wealth will pass to him. However, he never revealed this to his first girlfriend because she seemed to value money and status, which may be why they rented QF's place instead. I also don't think he was deeply invested in that relationship. Even after seeing photos of her with other men, he didn't seem particularly bothered, nor was he heartbroken when she left.
After the breakup, he stayed in the rented house—not just because he liked QF's cooking, but because he genuinely liked QF herself. She's intelligent, hardworking, and has built everything through her own efforts. He doesn't actively pursue her because a rejection could make things awkward and force him to move out. That's probably another reason he continues to downplay his financial background.
QF is relatable because she's like most of us—someone who works hard to earn a living and values what she achieves.

Actually I am currently watching Love Has Fireworks ( which is totally lighthearted and good time pass) and Never-Ending Summer, which is a youth drama.. but the tension is too much.. .. but not following like I did ASM, only when i feel like it.. so I happened to see a reel of Ci Sha from Rise of Ning.. and i realised.. i really cannot remember why he became negative character in that.. Guess what.. usually people are introduced for a purpose in any drama... not just a prop! right? I was watching The Rise of Ning.. becoz i forgot the issue between the Marquis and Ning... and there is a second wife here also, and she is not doing anything other than making faces, acting snobbish, till almost the middle of the drama and it so happened.. she is the pufferfish poison user.... lol!! So the idea came to me.. maybe ASM second DiL must be behind the ML's first wife's death...... rofl!! Seee.. what you have inspired..

When you love someone you would want everyone with you to respect them...ML seriously falling for her and thinking in love and care, she is seriously abusing him emotionally, from the minute she overheard the conversation between him and her mother.... Narcissistic behavior.. isnt it..?? I cannot imagine the emotional damage it will inflict on the guy when he comes to know the truth.... he will be such a joke..! No matter what sob story she spin later.. how can she justify using him for "medical bills" like her mother said...

For that fact, I am happy he did this drama with RenMin with whom he is familiar with, that's a very important fact. I also heard that fist scene they shot was the fist kissing scene... no wonder they were a bit shy initially..
