I think it's a very interesting discussion. Adachi is someone who from the get go is kind, sincere and supportive. But due to his low self confidence and anxiety, being an introvert and shy, is difficult for him to connect with others. He needs to feel comfortable and safe to open up. Here comes the power that helps him boost those positive traits of himself but at the same time makes him confront the ones he feels are heavy on him. When he started listening to Kurosawa's thoughts, he was surprised to see that someone was feeling about him like that, that someone could see those positive traits, that I think he doesn't believe he has them.
So, when he realized that Kurosawa was sincere and serious, and start spending time together, saw that Kurosawa has his own issues and insecurities, that put them on the same level in his eyes. So, he got a confidence boost and something else: Adachi, for me, also embodies the need some people have that in order to become their better selves, will probably need the love and support of others. I think that happens for people with Adachi's issues but of course that's only one of the routes they can follow; everyone is different. In EP5 Adachi said that it was thanks to Kurosawa loving him that he could take a step forward. That was all I needed to know about how he will continue on.
Of course this is fiction and I can't expect the same heaviness or complexity of real life. But it's not to say that people can get "healed" because others love them. That's up to the person to face themselves and how they use that love to become better. The only one who can help you is yourself; other people can support you with their positive feelings but at the end it all comes down to you :)
