It seems that my reply in regards to the promotion of the series raised a conversation a few comments below, so since some of you replied, I decided to make a post here to not confuse the conversation.
So, first of all, thank you to @umasou007, @Kino san, @Hikari no Naka and @TangYang for your answers. I had an idea of the overall differences between Japan/Thailand/China promotions, but that was very limited since I am not familiar with the Japanese way of doing things. It seems that Thai and China do crazy promotions for their series, in many cases too much, while Japan tends to keep a low profile face in most cases - unless the actors are nationally well known.
And second, and this is a personal view of mine, I don't mind that the series doesn't have a lot of promotion. I was in Kpop fandoms before and the amount of promo was so big, that I kept losing track and feel overwhelmed. Thai BL actors are the same and lots of time when I see videos of the fanmeetings, I feel like some of them don't really like all the fanservice and skinship they are required to do and in return, I don't like it either. Of course I get there is a marketing strategy behind it but it comes off as too much for me, but that's a personal thing. I am sure fans of the BL couples love that.
Although I would like to see some photoshoot of our main couple or both couples from the series, I don't really mind either way. As long as they do their job well and I like the series, that's enough for me.
Is it only me or someone else is also wondering why Akaso Eiji and Machida Keita are not doing more promotions…
Do Japanese actors promote the series the same way Thais do, at least regarding BL? I am not familiar with JPN entertainment industry, so I thought interviews and photoshoots are the classics move, maybe with an insta-live here or there. On the other hand, Thai BL actors can do some extreme fanservice as promotion.
If you read the manga you know what's up with the ending of the 4th episode and now I'm hype for episode 5!!!!
Spoil me please! I have only read up to the translated chapters in an illegal website (lol) so I have no idea what's up with the girl and the princess carry. My inbox is open, in case it's too risky to post them here.
Tbh, I liked EP1 more than EP2. Nothing wrong with the new episode, but the first one was so raw and made me cry twice so I hold it in a high regard haha Nevertheless, we saw progress in their relationship, mostly with Teh confronting his feelings about Oh-aew and I really liked how he got to talk them out and establish a connection rather than hide them and boil inside. I suspect the big drama will happen in EP4.
Based on the pace of the story so far, they will probably be together in ep 7 or 8 (Machida said ep 7 & 8 are…
I hope none expected them to get together in the last episode because that would have been horrible. You can drag a love plot that much when the characters stay in phrase 1 of flirting and courting. I was suspecting that by episode 9 or 10 they would get together, so Machida saying episode 7 & 8 are the climax makes sense.
Also, didn't 2gether got criticized because of a mix between forced drama and no chemistry between the lead actors (bromance instead of romance)? Most of BL series I have watched have the main couple at least get together around those episodes and leave it open for the secondary ones. The amount of episodes also play a role. And really give me all the fluff, I will never be tired (but that's just me).
I really liked the pacing of this episode. It was more down-to-earth than the previous 3, with barely any funny scenes, but instead it gave us a direction needed for Adachi: realizing that all people around him have to deal with their own insecurities and none is as how they seem.
For someone like Adachi, with low self confidence, he tends to compare himself a lot with others, or at least put the rest in a higher place than himself. For better or worse, most people have a social mask which they use to get through society and face problems. Both Fujisaki and Kurosawa seem like the perfect person: good at their work, beautiful and kind. Life must be perfect for them, right? Well, it's not... even if they make it seem like it. Of course without mind-reading powers, we can't know what goes through people's heads unless they say it, but everyone can be a pretty good actor, especially in their workplace when you need a certain level of professionalism.
I believe Fujisaki represents a lot of women in today's society. The social and family pressure to get married and have kids is always there for women, and I believe for those of Asian background even more harsh. Sadly, we can't change people's minds so the best we can do is be true to ourselves and move forward. Adachi was right when he said that everyday life can be fun and happy even without romance and love, that resonated a lot with me and I believe to many people as well.
Ok, this got super long so lastly I want to say that I am glad Adachi got to see that Kurosawa and Fujisaki are not as perfect as he thinks of them. Adachi being so determined at the end and going to help Kurosawa is a big step towards his character and I hope we get to see this side of him more often.
Episode 6 is the best episode so far! Both boys talked about the heavy burden they have to carry in their lives and how that shaped them: Karl had to live his older's brother life who died and Vlad become a child to "save" an already ruined marriage, but even as his father's favourite, it was already too late.
Thus, I want to say this: I get people want to become parents because they love children. But never become a parent because you need children for your own selfish reasons: you will always tell them what their "duty" is for being born and make them unhappy. And even if you don't say anything, the way you look at them, treat them, your silence, everything can be felt by children and they will continue to carry that for the rest of their lives. I am not saying that you have to be perfect, none is and of course none is born to be a parent, we learn and become one. So, if you have the option to have a child do it because you love them and want to see a baby grow up to be a good human :)
Heavy stuff aside, the episode was really well done. Karl took up the courage to face his parents, especially his dad, about his decision to change courses and Vlad had a bittersweet moment with his sister, Jutid, regarding LGBTQ+ issues and acceptance. All that came to a conclusion of Karl dancing how he really felt like (the iconic moment of opening the closet and then dancing), the kiss with Vlad and the cuddles on bed. Really wholesome and cute stuff. Two episodes remain and I hope we won't get any last-minute drama haha
2 Moons series really is cursed. They should just stop at this point.
I remember reading about the group thing a few months ago but since I don't really follow actors' stuff and what's going on very closely, I didn't pay attention. But it seems that now is a final decision and reading Earth's twitter post, some stuff here and on reddit, I am glad he got to leave behind this awful company. He deserves better, both as a person and an actor.
I am not sure if I am going to watch the new season now. When companies get exposed over their unfair and bad treatment of actors and staff, it makes me sad and angry. Of course, I don't legally support the series so it's not like me watching or not makes a difference, but I wonder how it will fair now. All I can say is best luck to the rest of the actors.
I really hope Pearl is not going to use Alex to get to Karleen. It's obvious that Karleen is jealous, because no matter how much she is trying to deny that she feels something for Pearl because of her "no dating bi/pan women", it's there when she heard of Alex. So, since Pearl's heart still beats for her, sometimes this makes people make dumb decisions and hurt others in the process.
I love Alex, she is so precious and I like how free-spirited, honest, joyful and flirty she is. I don't mind Karleen but she has stuff to work on first and the way she guilty-tripped Pearl for friendship is something I dislike. Of course we need drama in stories, so we can't have perfect characters and nice relationships, thus whatever the outcome might be, I hope all 3 girls learn something from this.
A1? Did you mean N1? lol. And isn't N1 supposed to be someone who's masterful and skilled in Japanese? lmao. I'm…
Oh I had the ENG levels on my head when I wrote this. I totally forgot about the JPN level system lol Sorry for the confusion, maybe I should change it ^^;
Not at "Cherry Magic" trending #5 in Thai twitter against itsay and two BL pairings that did a live lol
As for the episode: My N4 level of Japanese barely helped me but I got the gist of what happened (and also thanks to twitter). I really like when BL stories don't make the female characters as the "bad" ones. Fujisaki-san seems like a great girl and I hope she and Adachi can become friends :)
I am thinking of starting this drama thanks to all the comments but can someone tell me what's with the big ass…
Those big ass titles are a thing in Japanese media. I have seen them many times in their LNs (eg. Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru). It usually indicates a funny story but not always.
And second, "Cherry Magic" TV Drama will be officially available in Taiwan and Thailand! Tweet: https://twitter.com/BLUPDATE2020/status/1321730715717758976?s=20 I hope this means that they are working for an ENG release (youtube subs or through a platform) for the rest of us international fans :)
Wait, they kissed? *doubt* But yeah, I get Adachi is shaken up. This is all new to him, overwhelmingly so, and he doesn't know how to react. I would feel the same. And that summary explains why he is hiding under his office desk and Kurosawa looks sad ;o;

Princess carry next week, I can't wait!

Next episode jealous Adachi, yes please!
