I was led to believe the female lead is an obnoxious character from one of the trailers so I've been putting this on my 'maybe' list. Last night I was in desperate need of something sweet and fluffy because Love in Between has been putting me in a melancholic mood and The Chang'an Youth wasn't giving me enough fluff, so I tried this instead and OMG! Why didn't I try this sooner? It's a hilarious and feel-good drama that pokes fun at itself, lots of meta, endearing characters, not to mention the leads' chemistry! I can't wait to go home and binge-watch it! Thank you for the suggestion btw.

Omg, I checked out Tiger and Rose last night and ended up binge-watching 6 episodes, I was so tempted to forgo sleep and finish 24 episodes, had to held myself back. What is this lol? It's so nonsensical but adorably addictive! I cannot tear myself away from the main couple, ugh, they're so freakin adorable! Now I can't stop playing its OST on repeat. Oh dear.
1. The ingredients work like the coordinates to the place, it's less risky because they're following the leads…
I believe you're not getting the whole point. Their plan is never to trail the entourage or the person buying the ingredients, rather to trace the ingredients in the specific measurements that Qing Ci left in order to decipher the name of the place. I was trying to tell you by having the entourage out in the open buying the ingredients, it'd easy for Wen Si Yuan to find the ingredients needed to decipher the message.

Oh dear, this is getting long and I'll end it with this. Wen Si Yuan could have tracked the ingredients via the entourage based on the places they traveled in town, hence this is not a practical idea. This really is just a simple plot, no need to dig deep into the whys and whos. Let's just agree, they could have done better.
Great thoughts. I'm ok with the plot recycling as long as it's executed well. Again, drawing comparisons to Nirvana…
I understand his motivation to possess her, I just don't agree with it and want to express it. I empathize with his traumatic childhood but I feel that shouldn't excuse his obsessive behavior. By episode 30, I was hoping to see development in his and Yun Luo's characters, which regrettably, I did not see.
I agree with you that Qingci - Yunluo relationship is quite problematic, and in contrast the development between…
"she is a tough cookie, nobody is gonna be able to make her do what she doesn't want."
Yeah, and so she decided against the marriage upon finding out he lied/lost the meds, which begs the question, does she really want to marry him?
Anyway, I'm just pointing out why this type of relationship doesn't work for me, I draw the line where it feels unhealthy. To me, dramas aren't just a form of entertainment or escapism but also a form of lesson, so I think it's important to note, point out and emphasize when something isn't right for you. It's a way of educating people about what they should and shouldn't compromise.

No, they were not exposed as they went out of town to a remote place to deliver Qing Ci. However, if they choose to go back into town, plenty of eye witnesses.

He behaves like an obsessive second female lead who's in your face annoying with his one-track mind to possess her. All that, "I will not allow you to die." "You have to marry me if you want to save your sifu." "You need to be with me forever." I feel like he's commanding for her attention, and I dislike the idea that such behavior is romanticized. If he isn't the male lead, this kind of possessive behavior would have been criticized.

1. Sending the entire entourage equals to exposing themselves, Wen Si Yuan wouldn't even need to tail them, he could just ask around where the entourage has been in town/shops.
2. That's exactly what they did and ended up with a mountain load of infos, which Bai Mo needed to decipher which is his sifu's real message.
Actually, the whole plan in this scene is pretty straightforward, maybe a little convoluted for plot's sake, I think they could have simplified it with other ways than tracking the meds but they needed to make use of Qing Ci's intelligence.

1. I'm not getting your point? Why would the entourage need to get the ingredients when Qing Ci only told him after they have arrived at the place? It's because of his shrewdness that he asked for the ingredients to be bought separately.
2. Nope. They didn't know the ingredients beforehand, just the measurement so they were tracking the measurement to get the ingredients in order to form the complete sentence. One ingredient doesn't reveal the place, hence why I said they were working like coordinates.
3. Actually no, the wedding wasn't happening until Wen Si Yuan convinced Man Qing to accept it so he could crash the wedding and elope with her. He was planning to kill two birds with one stone, one is to delay Jin Xu and the gang through the wedding, second is to crash Man Qing's wedding and elope with her afterward. Only, Wen Si Yuan arrived too late (also because Jin Xu was smart enough to push the wedding forward) and they had to stop Jin Xu on the road.
The lines basically read Huangquanyin (poison in Qing Ci's body) counteracts Suoluomeng (poison in Su Xuan's body),…
Again, he was just testing it out, it had an effect but he couldn't be sure it'd neutralize Su Xuan's poison completely, hence he needed to observe his condition.

I wanted to try out Tiger and Rose but caught one of the trailers and immediately feel I wouldn't like the female lead. Plenty of eye candy in The Chang'an Youth, and most reviews say it's like Sungkyunkwan Scandal, which I had enjoyed in the past, so I'm giving it a shot.
I think the whole drama is cliche and the plot feels very familiar but the execution is what drawing me in. I yawned mostly during the palace/court's scenes, I really cannot get into it, I frankly could care less about Emperor Ai if he's not one of the boys.
It was a pointless sacrifice too. The current emperor immediately seized the throne after the battle, which left…
I tried one episode of Love a Lifetime, it was a drag to finish, and not looking forward to picking it up again. The editing feels really bad and I could barely connect to any character because I feel like they're just dropped on me without proper intro. I might go back to The Chang'an Youth for mindless fluff, I did manage to get to episode 4 on that one.
I feel like his arc serves as a purpose of shaping him up to be the inevitable villain. I don't mind it, I actually liked his mother and the real Mu Xiu.
It was a pointless sacrifice too. The current emperor immediately seized the throne after the battle, which left…
But they hadn't seen this Emperor Ai in 10 years and couldn't even be sure if he's still their ally, all these plans and schemes to retrieve a guy who's possibly a risk feel silly and over the top.
I marathoned 30 episodes of this in a week and feel like the life is sucked out of me. I need something fluffy now.
Great thoughts. I'm ok with the plot recycling as long as it's executed well. Again, drawing comparisons to Nirvana…
I don't mind plot recycling but this feels like a running gag. "Hey, you're not who you are? Cool, me too."
I'm a romantic person and generally derive happiness from dramas' OTPs or other pairings. I can eat up any type of romance, even silly ones, but cannot tolerate problematic ones, especially when it comes to an unhealthy obsession, it just doesn't send the right kind of message and frankly, I do not support it. I can get behind the OTP's problems in ATWIL because I could see self-respect, mutual respect and proper development (at the start anyway) between the leads. This main couple, however, does not do it for me.

He was simply testing his theory out, the blood wasn't enough to cure Su Xuan's poison. He didn't tell Yun Luo because he needed time to observe Su Xuan's condition but Su Xuan disappeared the next day. Qing Ci only verified his blood is the cure when he returned to Fang Wai Gu and confirmed it with his sifu.
Couple of questions on the good guys' plans in Episode 24 to save Yun Luo's master. So Qing Ci allows himself to…
1. The ingredients work like the coordinates to the place, it's less risky because they're following the leads rather than the entourage itself. Although honestly, this feels like a minor plot hole.
2. Because they have to search for leads from 36 shops and that'd delay them and risk getting Qing Ci killed if they're too late.
3. They were using Man Qing's wedding to delay Jin Xu and the gang from finding Su Xuan. It was a battle of who gets to Su Xuan first honestly. They were separated into 2 teams, one is to get to Su Xuan before everyone else, the other is to delay Jin Xu and the others (which is Wen Si Yuan and the kids).
