That reveals A LOT. At least now we know what causes the misunderstandings between Tou and Zhi. I'm getting really…
Apparently Lin Chong Xing and Lin Chang Rang (2nd father) are brothers, also brothers of current king, hence royal family. But Lin Chang Rang has "cut ties" with the royal family (I don't even know if that's possible unless he was removed from the royal family) and is now living as a commoner.
That reveals A LOT. At least now we know what causes the misunderstandings between Tou and Zhi. I'm getting really…
Lol, I didn't realize they talk a lot until I was trying to translate the confession scene for @Amanda Ainsworth. I do enjoy their conversations a lot, albeit how cheesy they are.
They also change the way they addressed each other. Tou is calling Xue Zhi as Zhi'er, usually, you only say that…
Yeah, it can kind of come off as disrespectful too considering Tou is older than her and it's a bit of an unusual name tbh. I've been making fun of their names since day one because of how funny they sound. Like Wu Ming (no life), Tou's bodyguard, and Feng Zi (crazy person). I guess there isn't much option other than to call him ge ge.
They also change the way they addressed each other. Tou is calling Xue Zhi as Zhi'er, usually, you only say that…
Xue Zhi clearly thinks of Mu Yuan as her brother, which is why the term ge ge feels so out of place in a romantic relationship. But at the same time, Feng Zi addresses Tou as Tou ge ge too, lol. On the other hand, Zhu Sha calls Chen Qu by his name so I'm thinking Xue Zhi could do the same.
They also change the way they addressed each other. Tou is calling Xue Zhi as Zhi'er, usually, you only say that…
I think it might have to do with the fact that this is a wuxia drama? I recall old wuxia movies from Hong Kong where female leads often address their love interests as brother or senior. Though I'd rather she keeps calling him Mister Shang Guan, or maybe Tou, or something of a nickname or term of endearment.
That reveals A LOT. At least now we know what causes the misunderstandings between Tou and Zhi. I'm getting really…
OMG! I swear I can't wipe off this silly smile on my face when I saw that! I want more of this kind of interaction between them because this is how couple should be. And Tou's laugh is the most precious thing in the world, I am so glad that he's choosing to embrace love and happiness instead of drowning his sorrow in lonesome. The trailer I shared earlier seriously gave me anxiety because it's gonna break their hearts so bad, especially when it's all a big misunderstanding! I'm trying so hard not to hate on Feng Zi.
I heard that because of Covid-19 outbreak, Leo is isolated and couldn't go to Beijing for dubbing. That's why. The…
I didn't watch the Legend of Fuyao so I can't tell. But I googled it, Ma Zheng Yang is the voice actor of the character Wuji, not Bian Jiang. Anyway I think Bian Jiang is an awesome voice actor, his tone changes with the character he dubs, because in this drama for instance, I could feel Bian Jiang's gentle and mellow voice almost as if it's Leo's own voice like in Ashes of Love even though it's clearly deeper. Damn, I really love Leo in this, Bian Jiang as the voice, and the cheesy lines all as a package.
That reveals A LOT. At least now we know what causes the misunderstandings between Tou and Zhi. I'm getting really…
I'M SO FREAKIN EXCITED TOO! THEIR FIRST KISS SCENE IS PROBABLY TOMORROW!
I hope they give us a long honeymoon period so I can last through the angsty part, more often than not, dramaland keeps the honeymoon period short and drag on the conflicts, torturing viewers with very little sweetness to cling to. I don't want that. Crossing my fingers this will be good.
HE DID! HE DID! HE TOTALLY DID! I haven't watched episode 17/18 yet but I saw that clip on Weibo and Leo reposted…
Edit: In that scene, Tou and Xue Zhi were sharing concerns about each other (it's a mirror of an earlier scene in episode 17 where they were worried about each other's safety before parting ways), because Tou's condition hasn't improved even after practicing the Lotus Sutra for days and Xue Zhi was working herself tirelessly day and night to care for Tou. Tou proposed Xue Zhi to stay for a few more days and he could take her to admire a beautiful flower view behind the mountain.
Sensing Tou's interest in her, Xue Zhi reminded Tou of his rejection right before the weapon ranking convention a year before and Tou said he remembered every word he said. He explained that his rejection stemmed from his concern over his background and his inability to open up his heart, now he has changed and willing to learn to love someone else (i.e. her). Xue Zhi countered that she was hurt by him at the time. Hearing that, Tou admitted his fault in letting her go and told her he had been missing her since the day they parted. When they met again in Anping, he couldn't hold back his feelings/longing for her anymore and that he knew she still holds him in her heart.
Xue Zhi then shared her fear with Tou that he might leave her one day because of her cursed reputation. And she's carrying the blood debt of her father and many other burdens, she said she wasn't willing to drag his name into the mud. Tou assured her his name was already in the mud without her, so why not partner up/become a couple so there would be less harm to the world. Xue Zhi asked if Tou isn't afraid she'd turn Hall of Flame into a cult, bring harm to him and become a succubus, Tou replied he's ready to follow her to hell if she becomes a succubus (IDK why but that sounded so romantic in my ear, lol).
Anyway, long story short, they're not a couple yet but they're getting there. They have boldly professed their affections for one another, we're just waiting for them to seal it with a kiss. *Squeal As Yenki mentioned down here when they change their form of address to one another, that's when their relationship officially begins.
HE DID! HE DID! HE TOTALLY DID! I haven't watched episode 17/18 yet but I saw that clip on Weibo and Leo reposted…
I'm gonna watch it first and then I'll make a list of all the lines I love. We can share which lines we like best. Hahahaha I'm so giddy, can you tell?
That reveals A LOT. At least now we know what causes the misunderstandings between Tou and Zhi. I'm getting really…
Me too, girl! Me too!!! But I don't want the angst coming in too fast, I want to bask in their sweet moments for a long, long time before we take a dive into angst and conflicts!
OH MY GOD!! Episode 18 is giving me all the feelingsssss. Thank you second daddy for being a great matchmaker.…
Me too!!! Homagah, I wish they stay like this for many, many episodes.
Edit: Idk why but the cultivating scene took my mind to the gutter. All I could think of was, "Is this euphemism of spiritual study (i.e. sex in xianxia)?" XD
Are there Chinese speakers who watched 17/18? I watched it with no subs, since I don't speak Chinese. Please explain…
HE DID! HE DID! HE TOTALLY DID! I haven't watched episode 17/18 yet but I saw that clip on Weibo and Leo reposted it saying "Shang Guan Tou finally dared to confess the one he loves, if you're being dishonest again, I'm gonna beat you up." Haha. Tou didn't exactly say ILY but he was telling Xue Zhi the reason he couldn't accept her heart at the time, and after they parted, he thought about their moments together all the time. And when they met again, he couldn't hold back his longing for her anymore and that he knew he's still in her heart. I'm squealing as I'm typing this, lol.
Also, there's a funny scene where Xue Zhi was telling Tou to change out of his wet clothes and he said he's feeling warm now that Xue Zhi is here. The Medicine King who was standing there with them checked Tou's pulse and said, "I'd say you're not only warm but is setting on fire." HAHAHAHA
The novel is indeed messy and not to mention filled with craziness, I have decided not to read it, so I just rely on synopsis and reviews online to understand basic plot. I can see why the production team is so quick to refute that the drama isn't the same as the novel because once you read it, you'll be like, wtf did I just read, lol. At least that's how most C-netizens reacted in the forum I checked out.
I think I was overly obsessed with Run Yu that I had no eyes for everyone else in Ashes, lol. Mu Yuan for sure will be heartbroken it this, I can feel it. I just wish he's not treated too poorly. He probably won't make it as lead, but somewhere in some drama, I hope he gets his own side loveline.
THANK YOU for this! Seriously the way the fandom is treating soo hyuk like some sort of angel.. ummm he shot a…
You did not seriously suggest Soo Hyuk is a psychopath, do you even know what psychopath means? Jung Bom is clinically diagnosed because he behaves in a way that suggests he is, whilst Soo Hyuk isn't because he doesn't. Jung Bom lacks empathy and has inablitity to compute moral regulations, Soo Hyuk pursues justice and punish criminals he believes is not possible of changing because he shows empathy for murder victims, especially one that he relates to most, his father.
Pardon me but I don't see how anyone is making Soo Hyuk hero here, everyone clearly said he has issues and no one is excusing it ever. And please do not put Soo Hyuk and Jung Bom in the same category. Soo Hyuk did not try to kill anyone except Jung Bom in defense. Sure we can argue Jung Bom tried to protect Sa Bin too, but Jung Bom tried to kill his own brother (please do not excuse it cuz he's evil, I swear I wanted to choke his brother too but it's not right). More importantly remorse and taking responsibility for their action, Soo Hyuk paid for his mistakes, had Jung Bom died from the gunshot I have no doubt he'd go to prison because that's the kind of person he is, has Jung Bom tried to take responsibility for any of the things he committed? Premeditated or not.
Soo Hyuk treated Jung Bom as a criminal because he has a juvenile record and was a suspect to a murder, they even have proof of him with the victim right before her death. Why is that so hard to understand that he was simply acting according to the evidence presented to him. We're viewers and are privy to everyone's thoughts and actions, but they're not.
"it wouldnt happened if JB wasnt irritated. In the end he cant differentiate his emotions, while SH can (officially)." So when it's convenient you say they're the same, one is diagnosed, the other is not. But when it's not convenient, suddenly Jung Bom isn't capable of processing emotions but Soo Hyuk is (hence he is not a psychopath according to you).
I did not judge Jung Bom on his mental illness, I judge the things he did and how he reacted. Again, Soo Hyuk acted according to his investigation findings, which isn't his work alone but with helps from his coworkers, are they prejudiced against Jung Bom too? What is it that Soo Hyuk did that's so wrong other than shooting Jung Bom? Surprise me.
Ji Chul isn't a serial killer, but is a killer nonetheless. Please see that for what it truly is. Jung Bom instigated a murder attempt on Soo Hyuk's life out of jealousy, not to protect Sa Bin, but you want to liken that to Soo Hyuk shooting Jung Bom due to misunderstanding cuz Soo Hyuk was trying to save Sa Bin life, sure. Jung Bom tried to kill Soo Hyuk's ex fiancee, you see what I said there? Ex fiancee. Soo Hyuk couldn't stand being vague especially when it comes to emotions so he break it off cleanly before going to Sa Bin. But y'all still wants to call her his fiancee, sure, why not.
Suddenly Soo Hyuk's sex life is mentioned in this even though it's totally unrelated to Sang Ah's psychology but if it proves a point or two about how Soo Hyuk was ignorant of Sang Ah's killer instinct, sure, why not. After all, we wouldn't even know Sang Ah is a psycho if we didn't see her killing in person, nvm that Soo Hyuk didn't see, he's supposed to feel it and just know it.
And we're suppose to pat Jung Bom in the back for submitting an evidence or confession of a murder, exalt him even like it's not something anyone should do? "And everyone is probably going to be "awwww good SH"" This is the kind of mentality that brings all of these arguments back and forth in the first place, y'all are arguing that we'd praise Soo Hyuk for everything, even though we clearly did not, and assume Jung Bom is victimized no matter what.
I'm done. Clearly you are not able to read and understand reasonings. I'm going to save my breath and rant somewhere else.

I'm off to watch now. Lalalalala
