Tried to watch this 3 years ago but I couldn't make myself continue. The reviews are pretty good tho. Any thoughts?
That might sound a little silly but you need to watch at least half of the show before you get to actual drama. First 20+ episodes is just like setting up pawns for the chess game. Certain plotlines might look detached etc., but it will all connect in the later episodes

Nor the first time replacing cast happened, neither the last. Still sucks for viewers, producers and the rest of the actors. They have no choice at this point :(

Some people will continue for the plot, some people will continue to support the production crew. And one more thing: they don't have to remake THE WHOLE thing. They can cut some scenes, digitally replace the face in other scenes and use tricks they do when they have to make doubles look like actors.
Why do they have to drop the actor NOW?? I mean the series is about to finish anyways. Just let Ji soo finish…
They are trying to salvage the drama and minimise their losses. If they aired the drama with Ji Soo, they'd (most probably) not only get extremely low ratings, but also (possibly) get boycotted and marked as a TV studio/production company/PD that supports school bullying.
Visually it is a bit like trading a bulldog for a Jack Russell Terrier... not in a bad way, just that there are…
I read somewhere (I don't remember the source so don't quote me) that JWS did it out of responsibility to fulfill the contract, clean up the mess and not be hit with any fines (for breaking the contract). He's the boss of BSW's agency so any bad publicity towards his actors affects him too
Sorry I will be dropping it. I found myself not laughing at any “funny” scenes and felt it to be too draggy.…
This screenwriter oftentimes creates annoying characters that get some kind of redemption arc/backstory midway and become very likeable so you should stick with it and give it a couple more episodes, maybe you'll like it better later on
While I usually get annoyed when shows tease about MLs having a dark past and then come up with ridiculous explanations to change them into good guys instead (they were set up etc.), I truly hope MLs in this show are just misunderstood fluffballs.
As for low-rated dramas, I'd like to recommend Ao to Boku:

It's rated 7.4, yet it's one of my favourite jdramas
Keep your expectations low and you'll have fun

Not a spoiler btw, don't worry.
