Your response literally said it's a sad ending because she dies, but you offer no contextualization to your reasoning. The character's own words, declaring that she will return, clearly indicate her intent and future reunification with the male lead. Her transformation into gold dust symbolically represents transformation rather than a definitive death, which is consistent with the themes of rebirth in xianxia. Framing her situation as a sad ending ignores the actual dialogue, making it clear that her journey is far from over. You're free to interpret it as a sad ending for yourself, but it's misleading to present that opinion as fact. For sake of transparency, the ending was incredibly frustrating and lackluster, but let’s not muddy the waters with half-baked explanations and shoddy reasoning.
No, she does not. I recommend you read this. @eliteles1 does a good job of outlining the events in the novel and the drama. It's understandable that while it is an implied HE, it can come off frustrating to the audience. Based on the vow and the events at the end, it's a HE.

Thank you for writing a very well-balanced review, bibi!
I think you did a fantastic job outlining the series' weaknesses while also highlighting its strengths. People often get too caught up in seeking 'perfection' and can quickly dismiss minor inconveniences or plot holes, overlooking the potential gems within the series. I appreciate your deliberate word choices and meticulous details, even in your passing comments, which add depth to the community discussions about this series, the roles women played during this era, and their relationship dynamics within their microcosms. I love connecting with fellow Cdrama lovers who are also intellectuals and appreciate historical accuracy and meaningful cultural discourse.
I look forward to crossing paths again and engaging in more meaningful discussions within our community.
I’m genuinely curious about why you’re spreading misinformation. The details you provided are factually incorrect in both the novel and the drama series. It’s surprising that someone so engaged in the conversation doesn’t even have the series on their Watchlist. Given your time on this platform since 2012, I would expect a bit more attention to accuracy. This raises questions about your intent, which seems questionable at best and misleading at worst.

I cannot wait to see CDL in more roles. She looked gorgeous in her recent photoshoot. I could totally see her portraying a 1960s femme fatale while gracing us with one of those gorgeous qipaos from Wong Kar-Wai's "In the Mood for Love." After seeing her in The Glory, she has won me over as a new fan. I love her duality in how she can portray fragility and fierceness in the same breath. Wishing CDL nothing but success and more promising roles!
I’m a hopeful romantic and will interpret it as a happy ending. She’s definitely going to come back.
The world of immortals is a paradoxical because a coin toss could change their destiny based on the way things operate in the Heavenly Realm as we've already observed. I believe she will return to him. They've overcome so many trials and tribulations -- it's the only thing that would make the most sense IMHO.
I don't understand the low reviews; the story is compelling, and, as others have mentioned, the emotions the characters portray feel authentic and raw. I believe people should wait to rate the series until all the episodes are released, as early ratings can be misleading.
Both ML and FL have very good chemistry. It's very nostalgic and makes me dream of experiences I wish I had as I'm a complete introvert. ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽
In xianxia, gods and celestial beings are often associated with order, rules, fate, and balance. Rather than being…
I think this is an excellent point. On the flip side, Greek and Roman gods and goddesses were created in the image of humans, embodying both divine power and human flaws. They often engaged in morally questionable actions driven by jealousy, desire, and vengeance. For example, Zeus, the king of the gods, is one of the worst deities. He is extremely selfish and acts purely on impulse, causing chaos among mortals and other deities. He even pretends to be animals to assault the mortal women he desires. This reflects a powerful yet flawed pantheon, where divine beings are as unpredictable and destructive as they are benevolent. In many ways, the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology are terrible representations of humanity, embodying the worst aspects of human nature.
In Nordic mythology, gods like Odin and Loki also embody chaos and trickery. Odin seeks knowledge at any cost, often sacrificing others and himself, while Loki represents pure chaos seeking a means to an end. Both exemplify the duality of creation and destruction, similar to the mythological creature Ouroboros, which is a serpent that consumes itself. Although gods are meant to enforce cosmic order, their close ties to mortals often lead to suffering. I believe this latter theme is a common thread found in Xianxia.
I appreciate Ju Jing Yi being in this drama. In China, she has a lot of traffic and carries a drama. In fact,…
I can relate to this. I only watched the show for Liu Xue Yi because he genuinely excels at portraying every character he takes on. JJY isn't really my cup of tea; I found her acting to be average, but that doesn't mean she was terrible.
However, I believe her popularity has led to some overhyping of her abilities, which is subjective in the grand scheme of things. Winning awards doesn't always reflect true quality. I think folks forget it's important to consider the criteria behind those awards before taking them too seriously. Either way, it could have been worse. I think it's one of those series where you can't think too hard about to enjoy.

THIS is what WILL happen. If we know anything about xianxia, it is that cultivation takes time, and she has even stated that she will find her way back to him. Think of it as a personal journey to rebuild their immortality. The other characters are also engaged in their own quests for immortality. That's my head canon, and I'm sticking to it!
I am pleased that it was a HE, even though they could have explored more depth in their journey. It is certainly preferable to a sad ending or one in which they are separated forever. I would choose THIS outcome over a more disappointing conclusion any day.
Cannot wait to see the LXY and Tiffany on their own next respective projects.
I was looking for Wen Zhen Rong's previous works but they were not available on the three sites that I use for…
I believe some of the older series can be found on iQIYI, but they seem to be region-locked. You can also watch the documentary titled 'Story of Her' on YouTube, where she portrays Wu Zetian, the first and only female emperor of China. You can watch the series here, this one features Wen Zheng Rong: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOpzHIxTatM
Bare in mind that some of her older series may come across as a bit cringey or kitschy due to unsophisticated FX. However, I found one titled 'Moon Fairy,' which was released in 2003 and produced in Singapore. You can check it out on their official site here: https://contentdistribution.mediacorp.sg/products/moon_fairy
Please put this man in more ML roles. Even though he made a cameo in A Moment, But Forever, his scene, while brief, was so impactful and brought tears to my eyes. He is soooo good!
