Title Cutie Pie Spoiler
[Episode 8, part 1/4 notes - Readers Beware]

"It wouldn't be fun if I told you." - What the almighty F*CK?! That's a red flag right there, kids. Like the reddest of them all. Taylor's version worthy.

Main cast must have their brains worn down from all those mental gymnastics.

Five minutes in and I'm already pissed off, pausing it after every other sentence. They're just really laying it thick as hell.

I stand by my opinion that the plot would make so much more sense if Lian was an unapologetically messed up person trying the gaslight the living sh*t out of Kuea for all of his money and influence. You can keep telling me whole day how misunderstood Lian is and I won't believe a word of it, even if Kuea himself surrenders.

We will just take Kuea's word for him not being drunk, because why not. It's not like he's acting out of character or anything. His face looks totally sober, too.

I should have watched this drunk. Surely after a bottle of wine, I would have been able to appreciate the sex scene properly without my brain ringing warning bells constantly.

You know what? Screw it. I'm going out to buy some cheap wine and finish it later on. My next comment might make a lot less sense, but it should also be way more positive 💜

Can somebody tell me which episode contains Phas tombstone? I’ve seen so many hysterically funny comments about…
Ep. 12, around 33rd minute mark.

I literally squealed "what the f*ck" when Nuea took out the condom package. Unfortunately for me, I'm not a native english speaker. I don't dare to even guess what my roommate thinks of me now.

Lesson learned.

This was so entertaining! Even with so little time, they've done a great job on character development. Main leads are pretty unique and interesting, as far as BL goes. I really regret not finding it when it started releasing. Also, I expected it to be way darker than it actually was, so good for my heart 💜

I liked Bank. That's about it. Anything else would be needlessly negative, so I'll spare you from reading it.

On Gen Y Season 2 Apr 6, 2022
Is anyone watching this on youtube as it's (re)releasing?

Honestly, nothing will make me rewatch Gen Y2, but I'm curious what the general reception is now that it's free to watch legally. I frankly think more people would stick around and not pirate it, if they announced there will be free release after the season ends. Would that lower the amount of subscribers they had just to watch it? Yeah, probably. But I think it would be offset by the people that would watch it later on.

First episode (the free one) has ~850K views on yt (released 3 months ago). Second episode released 3 weeks ago and now sits on ~117K. Third one was 2 weeks ago with ~72K. After episode 4, they started to release it faster than weekly. Episode 7 just came out a day ago and has ~32K views.

While I'm sure retention for Gen Y 2 would be bad either way, going from 800K to 70K seems drastic to me, regardless of the time released (most people watch the new episodes within a week of release imo). My point is, why would they choose to have this weird release schedule without any communication? Have they planned to keep it behind paywall indefinitely and it underperformed? Or were they just trying to get as many subs as possible first? Does anyone know how many views the paid release had per episode?

I doubt anyone is still keeping up with this MDL page, but I've just wanted to get it off my chest. Not considering the quality of Gen Y 2 itself, I think the release itself was a mess.

Finally managed to finish it.

Episodes 1 - 8 were great, 9 and 10 were kinda meaningless imo (they were running in circles and didn't resolve anything). Episode 11 was good, but I would have loved for it to simmer more. Last episode was expected mushy ending.

My opinion - make episode 9 the "beach fanservice" episode. Just straight up delete part 10 and use it to make the conflict from part 11 flow better. Avoid time skips (or at least make them more natural). Part 12 stays as unavoidable cliche (unless you want to have a sad ending).

More Vee and Dome!!! Or just Vee is fine. I don't care if he steals 80 boyfriends, he deserves it. The main couple is fine, fairly realistic. Not the best in terms of chemistry in my opinion, but usable. Aii and Saen had the most boring, useless plot of all. The same old "will he, won't he" that could have been resolved by 5 minute dialogue. Either give them a proper conflict or leave their screentime for Vee (preferable).

Overall, this is a solid 8. Could have been better if not for the last 4 episodes.

Best part of this series is the music. NuNew has nice voice and he's adorable. The visuals are pretty good, too (except the horrifyingly perfect skin every BL character seems to have nowadays). Acting is fine (I legit can't evaluate acting unless it's really good or laughably bad. This one is good enough for me to not pay attention to it).

But pacing and the plot are a mess for me. Morality aside, the characters seem inconsistent and scenes illogical. It's high enough quality that I wouldn't care if I just mindlessly binged it, but it's falling apart when I try to make sense of it. I was under impression the show's trying to do more.

Overall, it's good enough if you just want something nice to look at and aren't concerned about complex and potentially problematic themes. Not the worst thing I watched this season.

[Episode 7 Notes]

"The reason I was drunk last night... is because I got drunk" - Yi, 2022

Zee's dancing was pure, red-hot gold 🔥
This is the kind of content I'm here for!

Up to this point, I always found Diao genuinely scared of Yi (shaking, twitching, hiding, lying...). That makes their relationship pretty uncomfortable for me. I know it's more complicated in the novel (and we're getting past that in the drama), but still.

Another kiss scene out of the blue to push relationship (now Diao x Yi) further. I kinda liked how this one ended, though. Won't be surprised if we get a random kiss between Syn and Nuer next episode.

Kuea's character has been reduced to an emotionally-scarred child. Bratty on the outside, starved on the inside. I don't know how to feel about it, especially considering the age gap.

Not only there is no communication between the leads, they won't even listen to each other on those rare occasions one of them speaks out. Like Lian tells Kuea to specifically pick a place he would like to go to because he wants to get to know him better, and Kuea is like "whatever you pick for me" 🙄 Maybe not the best example, but you get the gist.

Syn's reasoning kinda makes sense, but I found it weak. Especially since Syn seemed pretty emotional about keeping them apart, so it's too logical. Feels like an excuse. But I'll take it, so he can be with Nuer.

Pentagon's building resembles gas station from outside imo. Not what I would have expected from an exclusive club.

The scene in Pentagon feels so weird! For once, we're getting obligatory homophobia/LGBTQ rights subplot. For second, they are all awfully aggressive and talkative, considering they aren't in private. Are they gonna blame it on alcohol or what?

"I've never not loved you." - Liar, Liar, pants on fire Lian!

Most of the episode felt like a filler. Which might be actually good, since I needed some transition period to get used to the new couples' dynamics.

Watching the preview, I actually hope this is all a part of Lian's evil plan. That would have made the story so much better!

Surprisingly, this might be my favorite ongoing BL right now.

Is it still hella cringe? Yes. But it's also unexpectedly realistic, heartwarming, and just overall fun to watch. Maybe it's just me having low expectations of it, but there's not much I can criticize.

[Episode 8 notes]

"let me throw away the sticks" - Yeah, like that's gonna happen 🙄

"Is this the reason why you won't let me into your room?" - I believe the rotten tangerines might play a bigger part.

I should have expected Toh trying to go back for some waterfall sample. Alas, he still manages to surprise me.

Jao having his own collection was probably inevitable with a friend like Toh. His fortunately looks way lower maintennance.

Someone here was talking about Seng's appearance and said that "Toh wasn't beautiful". I don't like arguing about…
It's exactly like in FUTS. Give a character glasses, possibly braces, let their hair down and all of a sudden they are ugly?! Just no.

I hope they won't try to "fix" Toh by giving him the makeover in those aspects.

Very confusing. I've just realized the show's meant to end this week and up till ep. 9, nothing really happened. So the staff unleashed fearsome "episode 11 curse" on us. And it was a mess. No way they can give it a dignified ending this way.

To put it bluntly, the show just plainly failed in my eyes. It's not funny, nor is it dramatic. It can't be taken seriously. Doesn't work as a "Love Stage!!" adaptation and doesn't stand on its own. The plot is shallow and mostly boring. Pacing is nonexistent, conversations don't make sense. Even the acting was pretty bad this episode (especially the two male leads could not make me feel a thing, and I'm pretty emotional person otherwise).

I will finish it out of morbid curiousity. But overall, this was a disappointment.

I liked it.

The conflicts between main couple felt manufactured and got resolved as fast as they came, but the story was otherwise good.

I don't think they needed to up the romance, since P'Arthit is a shy character and there were still enough sweet scenes for me to find it interesting.

I was trying so hard to finish this. But after being stuck on ep. 10 like for ever, I'm giving up. Pretty sure there isn't anything worth seeing in those last 2 parts anyway.

The only good thing about this drama is that it hopefully killed off any chance of Gen Y 3 and freed the actors to do something entertaining instead.

I think Phat should have just died alongside Phob. Telling us how miserable Phat was until the end is certainly an artistic choice, but one my heart could do without.
