Title KinnPorsche Spoiler
Porsche isn't subtle at all with that drink.

Ngl, the apple scene was pretty cool.

.... I'm starting to think Porsche isn't meant to be the brightest one in this series.

Them carps though 🀣🀣🀣

I don't know how I feel about Kinn's brother. So far I'm vibing with him, I just hope they won't overdo it for comedic relief.

I would have killed for the oldest son of minor family. Sorry not sorry πŸ–€

Also Perth in a suit is nice to look at.

I'm seriously getting annoyed with Porsche. I get that he doesn't want to be there, but they haven't forced him to accept the job! He came willingly (one could even say they saved his ass). And what does he do? Sabotages himself (and everyone else) whenever he can. In a house full of armed men. Near potential enemies. Just flat out attacking a kid (spoiled kid, but still). Like if he's suppossed to be so simple-minded the whole series, it's gonna be challenging for me to take him seriously. But I'm willing to give him a second chance.

The comedy in this part was kind of a mixed bag. Some was good (them carps), some was fine if used sparingly (Kinn's brother), and some of it just felt stupid to me (basically all the rest). Actually, Porsche not being capable of making a decent coffee was fun, too.

Overall, I'm praying for Porsche to become more mature in later episodes. Otherwise good.

"I hate to bring that series up in this community thread, because it seems to hit a particular sensitive spot regarding some past situation with the former pairing of Zee and Saint"

Frankly, I don't really care about the off-screen drama in BL industry and pairing fandom. I'm not going to pretend that everything is rainbows and flowers (because it most likely isn't), but life's too short for me to get entangled in drama I have no control over and that can't be dis/proven either way. But if someone's into that, more power to them. It won't stop me from saying what I think, though :)

I'm more into light, fluffy stuff. Like I can enjoy dark BL if it looks good and isn't miserable just for the sake of it, but most of the time I just prefer something soothing.

As for Cutie Pie, I have honestly no idea what it's trying to be or do. For me, it's kinda failing at everything except technical stuff like visuals, music and acting.

But also, the comment section is pretty interesting, so I'm staying with it :)

Not really a fight. Just a lot of comments. It was a bit distracting from the overall show.

I'm still fooling myself into thinking there is a higher reason why I'm sticking with Cutie Pie. But honestly, I just probably want to see how the trainwreck ends.

As for KP, I haven't seen much arguements about the trigger warnings (but I also avoided anything that seemed too spoilery). I would think that most people that actually watch KP are prepared for them, since the show doesn't seem to sugarcoat itself like Cutie Pie does.

I think that's partially because each of the friends tend to be part of another pairing, and they want to spend the free time on side couples (and their subplots) instead of friend group dynamics. As cringey and OTT as SCOY is, it's one of the few shows where I actually feel like the friend group supports each other (and isn't there just to connect all the couples).

I don't expect Kuea and Diao to bond together much more, unless they are melting about how perfect their boyfriends are. But honestly, I don't expect anything from Cutie Pie anymore (except out of the blue kiss between Nuer and Syn, which should be there any minute now).

Is it just me or some other people here are being a self-proclaimed critic who keeps on saying that this show…
For me, there is a difference between plot and premise. Premise is the thing they show in trailer, write on imdb page and introduce in the first (few) episode(s). And the premise of this show is pretty interesting in my opinion. Certainly refreshing as far as BLs go.

Plot is what they do with the premise. And the plot of Cutie Pie is, in my subjective opinion, a mess. Like not even funny mess. Just a boring, repetitive mess.

I watch BL shows for one of the 3 reasons:

Group number 1 - something that is so silly and/or dramatic that it can't be taken seriously, but is still enjoyable. Think the start of SCOY (not knowing how it ends, so the jury's still out).

Group number 2 - fluff. Doesn't need to have a great or original plot. Just a heartwarming story to make me feel good. Think Kieta Hatsukoi or 2moons.

Group number 3 - a show that takes itself seriously and is trying to do something new or deep. Think Utsukushii Kare or Call It What You Want.

Then I judge each show based on which group I think they belong to. Number 1 basically doesn't need a plot at all, so I'm not gonna complain about it being simple and repetitive. While number 3 needs their plot to be executed almost flawlessly for it to be enjoyable.

Based on the premise of Cutie Pie, I would have expected it to be in group 3. And it fit there, for the first two episodes. Then it just went wild. It's not funny or OTT enough to be in group 1. It also isn't sweet and simple enough to be in group 2. It constantly reminds us of the inconsistent plot that doesn't make sense, isn't fun and is running in circles while breaking. It might have nice visuals, good music and hot intimate scenes, but that's not enough for me to enjoy it. I can't even focus on the romantic aspect, because all I can think of is how it doesn't make sense and keeps backtracking like we haven't been there already.

I'm not saying my opinion is the right one and everyone who doesn't agree is wrong. I'm just saying, for me to not enjoy a BL series, something's probably really wrong with it.

Episode 2 was the golden age of Cutie Pie. After that, all hell broke loose.

Same with the intimate scenes. Their relationship is too messed up for me to enjoy those. The conversation before was just a bunch of BS to remind us everything that's wrong with LianKuea.

I still have my reservations about YiDiao, but at least they're moving somewhere.

Nuer and Syn are just... unimportant. They have zero bearing on overall plot and their attraction came out of nowhere (since they had like 15 minutes of screentime in the whole drama).

Oh, I didn't mean that the plot must be mess in order for there to be drama. Though I think that if everyone just communicated honestly with each other, half of the plot points would vanish.

As I've said, my main problem with Cutie Pie isn't that the characters have questionable morals. It's that the characters don't make sense, and there's no consistency in either the main plot or character subplots. The "development" is just put there momentarily to push "romantic" scenes and washed away afterwards, while not based on anything in the first place.

The premise itself is interesting to me. But they killed it by making Kuea an easilly manipulated bratty child while trying to excuse Lian's actions and mold him into "brooding guy with bleeding heart". I'm not even gonna comment on side couples.

To put it simply - Having toxic traits is fine for the plot. Trying to excuse them in a never-ending "miscommunication" cycle is not. It's boring and getting us nowhere. But if everyone was 100 % honest, there wouldn't be much of a conflict, either.

(I don't know if I'm speaking my mind understandably, but hopefully it makes sense)

"But of course if they had then wouldn't have the drama and can't have that lol!! "

Exactly! I don't really care about the "morality" of either of them. Neither are prepared for healthy relationship. I just wish they were consistent in the character traits and development. Especially the last episode just threw everything out of the window while moving nowhere.

Personally, I would have liked for Kuea to be more two-faced!!! That was the main draw of Cutie Pie for me. So ruining it all and trying to excuse their behaviour is a disappointing development imo.

This is more angsty than 2moons (so far), but I still like it. I mean, Wayo was more openly into Pha, at least in front of Ming. Nuea is obviously fooling himself.

Nueas unite!! Seriously, there is oddly high number of main leads called Nuea in ongoing BLs. Fortunately, they are all hot.

They have probably the most realistic dorm rooms from all BLs I've seen so far. No more luxurious condos with king-sized beds.

I hope Khluen's girlfriend is just a beard, for her sake. I've seen the actress in some BL series already, and it didn't end well for her (it rarely does for female characters).

Are we getting GL pairing, too? Just saying, two of the Stars seemed pretty close to each other.

The last scene is definitely sus as hell. Unless this is a one episode piece, I'm calling someone's daydream. 50/50 on whose, since both of the main leads seem to be swimming in the Nile (Nuea is already drowning.)

Overall, way better than I expected!! It might not be original, but I don't care. After an experience like EnchantΓ©, my faith in GMMTV is being slowly restored.

This show peaked at the end of episode 2 with the Kirin revelation song. After that, it's like they just threw plot into an uncovered mixer and aired whatever it spewed out.

Music is still good, but not enough to save the whole drama.

I bet the intimate scenes are well done (since Zee), but I can't get invested in them because the relationships just make zero sense. Without spoilers, my brain's just playing the "You in danger, girl" meme on repeat.

To be honest, who doesn't pretend to be someone more likeable / suitable in a presence of their crush? I agree that Kuea has taken it too far to be the "perfect" partner, but I bet a lot of it would still be expected from him as an heir to Keerati family. Lian and his family are already calling Kuea "naughty" and making him live under surveillance, and they (presumably) don't even know about his less-than-ideal hobbies.

Also I feel like Kuea gets the pass from people, because we know that Lian knows. So there's no way for him to actually manipulate Lian.

I'm not trying to defend Kuea, though. They've messed up his character arc so much, he's barely in control of whatever he does. I don't like this Kuea. But Lian is on a whole different level as far as manipulation goes.

I can't lie - I haven't watched this since I think Ep 2 or 3, but I watched Part 1 of this ep because of the thumbnail.…
I just couldn't during that conversation. Watching all the other episodes doesn't help (if anything, I would bet it makes it worse). It was impossible for me to enjoy the romantic scenes. All I could think of was the gazillion red flags they tried to sweep under the rug . Even looking at Zee, I was questioning for how long he had to be thirsting to make it "hot".

Nuer only needs you, Syn. He's also pretty obvious about it. He be sniffing Syn.

"He's too good to be true." - Maybe you're just dreaming, Kuea. Maybe we're all just dreaming.

Our poor rabbit is so lonely he's talking to himself again! Yi should adopt him before he dies from lack of affection.

Weird episode. But I guess the fan-service got the shippers happy. The only thing I like about this show still…
I mean, it's not like he had much space for expression in My Engineer, playing such a stoic character with few lines.

But I agree that he seems more natural. To be honest, I haven't even recognized him at first.
