According to the novel Daisy is trans and uses the pronouns She/Her.
Do they really explain it? I'm genuinely curious. I watch all episodes on youtube, and while I can see Daisy often addresses themself as "she" or "lady" and such, I don't remember there being a scene when they clearly explain their identity (which isn't exactly a bad thing, I'm just worried I missed it). Also, subtitles for BL series are often suboptimal, so I'm not sure if I can infer their identity from the pronouns/gendered words use. In BLs especially (and even in real life where I'm from), people sometimes use gendered words of other gender than the one they identify with, so Daisy's gender identity is still 'uncertain' for me. I admit I haven't read this whole thread, just skimmed it. I agree with the above commenter that just because Daisy had a clear identity in the novel, it doesn't mean the character has the same identity in the tv show (though it seems like an odd thing to change for SCOY, I wouldn't dismiss the possibility). But if there has been a clear explanation in the show (maybe lost in translation or just lost in my head), we should respect it. So if you could point me to a scene you believe confirmed it, I would appreciate it π
Edit: just read the other comments and it looks like the scene you mean is the one at the noodle stall (correct me if I'm wrong). And while I do think it's more likely Daisy identifies as female (rather than male), I don't consider it a direct confirmation. So until there is a more clear information, I will try to use gender-neutral language whenever referring to them.
[One thing I don't like about SCOY is that they don't give us a clear insight to character's minds. So while they show a lot, they don't talk nearly enough to be sure about anything π]
"Is toh manipulating Nuea" my comment below which is when you probably saw it, is about how both of them use manipulation…
I was just reacting to the episode, specifically the very end of Episode 10, part 1/4. They show Toh making a sneaky smile and wink, which was the first time I noticed writers being so obvious about Toh outright manipulating Nuea. That's why I was surprised.
I will leave the morality out of it, since that's not why I watch SCOY. But I agree that Nuea is manipulating Toh, too.
They should have a rule concerning an expiration date of such 'souvenirs'. Otherwise it will just keep growing.
Is Toh manipulating Nuea for real? That's new.
"Sky" is a terrible actor. But he means well.
Sky's highschool friends aren't very "friendly" at all.
Oh, they're actually even worse! Ngl, that scene highkey hurt.
I don't know how to feel about the SkyJao development. Hope they get to talk about it some more.
Toh grew mad with the power. He should come down.
Crying Nuea is my kryptonite.
"Your voice is higher than your IQ." Can't believe I haven't heard that one before! Pure gold π€£π€£π€£
Does anyone find these "love/interest declarations" in a big group of friends weird? Like I get it's supposed to indicate you're serious about the person and not ashamed to admit it, but it just feels a bit forceful to me. Especially when it's their "first".
The girls get it.
Someone pulls out UNO - Ominous music starts playing in my head.
Okay, so no pre-relationship talk for Sky and Jao. I guess I'll just have to accept it.
Exactly. Why are you taking their photos, Toh?
The ending.... next episode will be interesting for sure.
Episode 2 is at least as good as the first one! The pacing's been a bit fast imo so far, but that will depend on how they handle future conflicts.
I'm sure there's nothing we haven't seen before. But I will gladly watch it again and again. It's like a fairytale, but BL. The only thing missing is some engineer.
Guava juice?! No pink milk? Is it even a BL at this point?!
Get yourself a man like Khluen. Cooks a dinner for you. Comes stay with you so you won't feel scared on your own (brings the food). Takes you on a date. Accepts your stalkerish tendencies.
"Have a safe flight" - And the ship has sailed.
Nose bump cliche checked βοΈ
Nuea already calls him daddy.
And he lets Nuea pay! Toxic masculinity who?
Screenwriter: "How many tropes do you want in this episode?" Producer nods aggresively.
"Have you been my boyfriend before?" - If those ain't challenging words!
Is pink milk going to be dethroned by the green juice? I'm still team sala, but guava's going for its neck.
Lying in his bed! I swear I don't have an armpit kink, but daaamn.
Khluen saving his boyfriend or playing a copycat again?
1 2 3 4 5 I love youuuu π
Sabotage #KluenGia. May the odds be never in their favour.
Someone important just came in. You know because the bad boy music started playing.
i think maybe the confession back at high school went awry and made Nuea lose his self-worth? so seeing Kluen…
I believe Nuea went to study abroad right after the confession. So while there is a possibility something horrible happened that day, I don't think it would be that likely (pretty sure we will learn more about that later on).
I don't necessarily assume Khluen did something wrong (right now I think he would be kinda passive about the confession). I have a feeling that Nuea is just embarassed he confessed and wants to move past that (even though he most likely still likes Khluen). Also he "knows" Khluen has a girlfriend, so he doesn't expect for his feelings to be reciprocated.
Honestly, I don't believe Khluen's playing around. Even his girlfriend feels fake to me. Maybe they're together just out of a habit (without the romantic parts), or they aren't really together at all. That's another part I think the show will address later on, though :)
To sum up my expectations - Nuea ran away right after his confession, not giving the relationship any chance. He doesn't believe there's a chance even now, hence why he pretended not to know Khluen. Either Khluen isn't invested in his current relationship, or he isn't in a relationship at all (it's just a pretense).
While I'm pretty sure we will get clear answers sooner or later, I don't expect them to be any unique or surprising.
A gentle reminder to users who want to discuss about the novel and future possibilities, please use the spoiler…
Also it would be nice to put something like "NOVEL SPOILERS" at the start of your comment, whether you use the spoiler tag or not. Some people mark things as spoilers even when they only spoil what happened in the show so far.
Honestly, having 2 types of spoiler tags would make so much more sense for MDL, considering how many dramas have a source material.
the ml's character has to be one of the worst and disgusting ones i've ever seen
I mean, that's a good thing. If this is your ceiling, that means you haven't be exposed to characters that are objectively way worse and more disgusting.
Which is quite a rare sight in the world of BL drama.
Why people dislike KinnPorsche ? I think I know why, after trying to watch several popular BL dramas and basing…
Personally, Porsche just annoyed the hell out of me in episode 2 because of how reckless and seemingly selfishly (also kinda stupidly) he acted. Maybe if we were shown more of his inner struggles, I could sympathise with him more. That doesn't mean I don't like the show or that I will give up on Porsche, but he's my main issue with the drama right now.
That has nothing to do with his identity or "manliness" or however you want to frame it. I admit I might be more forgiving to him if he looked younger, though (just because young people generally aren't that emotionally mature or experienced yet).
I'm not saying you are wrong for every single person that dislikes Porsche or the whole show, but your comment feels like a blanket statement, which is false. I'm sure there are plenty of people that dislike it regardless of seme/uke dynamics.
For me, there is a difference between plot and premise. Premise is the thing they show in trailer, write on imdb…
I could imagine it being in group one if they just gave up on the plot already and upped the drama/comedy significantly. For me, they're just trying too hard to persuade me the plot is serious and makes sense. They're dragging it like a dead horse. And it doesn't help that the first two episodes are actually pretty well done plot-wise.
For people that read the novel. Can you please tell me how old is the character of Porsche meant to be? I've heard anywhere from 19 - 23 in comments. I know he's studying at uni, but that doesn't narrow it down much. Thanks in advance π
I think in this situation we have to remember that:1. Porsche is very young. 2. Of all Porsche's many tools at…
I haven't realised Porsche is meant to be that young. I would guess he's around 26 tbh.
I think what Kiin did and what the head of the family wanted were 2 different things at that time (didn't read the book, so feel free to correct me). While I'm sure Kinn was serious then (and would try and kill him), I don't think the family would run after Porsche later on and forced him into joining. The big boss seemed to want Porsche to come willingly. Frankly, if they wanted, they could have probably kidnapped him or killed him at any time. Or blackmail him further. It wasn't an easy choice to make (join or not), but it was still his choice. He could have just taken his brother and run away.
I understand he's in a place that's foreign to him, not entirely out of his own volition. That's why I would expect him to be more... I don't know. Guarded? Passive? To me, it feels like he's taking it too lightly. Stepping on people's toes all the time. But I do hope he'll learn to adapt to it eventually.
I think you are putting too much precious on porsche's character, he will never be what you want, so stop over…
Considering Porsche is one of the main characters, I can't really separate him from the show. If I don't enjoy watching him, chances are he will ruin the whole drama for me. Maybe I expect too much from him (especially considering he's meant to be younger than he looks), but he plays an important part in the story. I can't just ignore his arc and still make sense of the rest.
I know it's only episode 2, that's why I said I will give him another chance. Also I have no desire to read the book.
