Which is basically a 10/10, except it isn't 2moons1 and also doesn't reach the perfect ideal of BL all shows should aim for. But it's cute, it's sweet, it's sunny... no useless drama in sight for this one π
The last few episodes were annoying to watch. Iβm not sure if the manga was paced better. But after the main conflict got βresolvedβ, it felt like the writers were just quickly throwing different varieties of peas on the wall in hope something will resonate. It did not, at least with me. Iβd very much prefer fuller resolution to the main story and skip for what came after.
The writing for this is so shoehorned, at least twice as much as usually. Maybe it's because they don't have much time to tell each story, but still. This isn't how real people act!
The eye candy is there, though. Prame is a half-decent actor when he's allowed to talk, and the other lead isn't terrible, either. It's just the script that makes me want to smack someone's head π
It's an eight at best, I fear. Maybe I could have liked it better if I watched it few years ago and in better mood, but no. In essence, this has devolved into yet another semi-depressing japanese BL that excuses ugly stuff, shocks its audience by going for deep themes but fails to deliver on them, and it's also not ashamed to hit some more oldish BL tropes. Writing this I really want to lower the score some more, but I'm a sucker for sad and the start was really promising! I'm sure this is an 8 for someone, all the way. You should just know what you're getting into.
I would not be so sure. I am a little biased about one of the golden matches haha I would like it if they would…
Yeah, I can see βno one is ultimately happyβ ending and itβs more of a best-case scenario at this point for me.
I get that in most BLs, you would naturally know the endgame. But this is exactly the kind of show where it shouldnβt be obvious imo. So new faces would have worked so much better with little effort and no long-term feelings harmed as far as fans are concerned.
Also, it would make for a better socnet experience if there were no known faces for me π
Characters? Very bland. Top is my favorite and he's objectively a jerk. Others are just... there. Except Mew, who appears to be a "victim". Hope GMMTV has something more original prepared for them.
My main takeaway from the first episode is - the concept would have worked much better if they opted for an entirely new cast. So we don't know who ends up with whom, who should end up with whom, or even who tries to get on with whom. I mean, it's only been 40 minutes and half of them are already back to their old pairings!! I have enough faith in GMMTV to assume they'll muddy the waters a bit down the line, but not enough to even hope they'll have the guts to break their golden matches. So for now, I expect a lot of headaches that will bring us back to where we started.
So, episode 7 was a wild ride. But more often than not, more good than bad. It's just hard on people to process so much in 30 minutes in my opinion.
And that pretty much sums up the whole drama for me. The story is good. The acting manageable, for the most part (episodes 6-7 were a bit rough in this aspect, but then side characters were solid the whole show!). Budget worked out. It's just that, for a story like this, you'd want to simmer on some parts. Let it rest. Maybe even dive deeper. And they didn't have time for that. So the burden rests on the viewer, to fill in the blanks and process turns at the same time. It might not be the most satisfying watch for this reason alone. But it's interesting π
Sounds like we shouldn't get our hopes up much, though π₯²
Oh, thanks for letting me know! I will look into this when I have the time π©΅
By any chance, do you know if "My Lucky Cat" is still on the table? I've heard mixed info π
Even though CP was a hot mess for us both, I still miss the conversations with you all π
But certainly, life is giving detours left and right π
They had the perfect opportunity to do something funny and they wasted it π’
But I'm not too worried about the cast. BL actors often play outside their age range, so I juat kinda got desensitized to it π
Even if the ratio of doctors+engineers to other groups is a multi-digit one π
It would have been either the greatest at best, or laughable at worst. So still entertaining π
But part of me was hoping he was just a weirdo. Not a cat π

Please, someone give Han Baram seroquel and tell him it's gonna be alright π

But I'd love to be wrong on this one π
*10 seconds later*
"If I can't have you, no one can!"
You aren't helping yourself, bro π
