What kind of poor writing is this???I enjoyed the first 20 episodes, but everything went downhill in the last…
FRIENDLY ADVICE:
Drop this drama after episode 20 and then wait for Season 2.

There's nothing in the last 4 episodes that you would want to watch -- trust me. It will just mess with your brain and your heart. It will ruin the beautiful fantasy and the love story that you enjoyed watching for the past 20 episodes.

And if you have questions left unanswered after watching the 20th episode, please feel free to send me a message. I will answer them for you.

I'm doing this to help save you from 4 episode's worth of headache and frustration because if I could just unwatch them, I would.

What kind of poor writing is this???

I enjoyed the first 20 episodes, but everything went downhill in the last 4 episodes.
I thought I was in for some historical romance with a touch of fantasy. And by fantasy I mean time travel and a bit of magic.

But it turned out that the writer wanted to do a full-on fantasy drama at the last minute, making everything that happened in the first 20 episodes seem like an excessively long and meaningless introduction to the poorly explained plot that --- suprise, surprise! --- actually began on episode 21. WTH???

I don't know if it's me getting older and becoming harder to please or the dramas being produced these days are of poor quality. Perhaps it's the former. I don't know.

Anyway, the last 4 episodes were extremely disappointing so I'm giving this drama a rating of 6/10. Had I stopped watching after the 20th episode, I would have rated this an 8/10.

Right. But I believe you, and all the others who are extremely frustrated with this drama. 18 hours is too long., so thanks for saving us the from all frustration. :)

This is the funniest and the most entertaining rant I've ever read here on MDL. I was actually planning to watch this drama because of the male lead and the good cinematography shown in a YouTube ad teaser. But thanks to this review, I won't be wasting 18 hours of my life.
And yes, drop the hot potato before it scorches.

You actually re-watched the entire 58 episodes? Gosh, that's too long. But actually, I'm just a few nudges away from re-watching the whole thing. haha.

OMG. What to do? Haha. I'm having a major withdrawal right now and I need some distraction. I thought since this drama is also called Eternal Love, it might help me move on.

Ten Miles' Fourth Brother is in Go Princess Go, right? I'm in love with him in Ten Miles.

This drama started off really good for me. I found it very interesting and I enjoyed the different relationships…
I'm experiencing a major withdrawal right now that I keep thinking of the drama and how they could have done it better for me to love it more.

As much as I would love to, I'm not 100% in love with this drama because of the reasons stated above and so much more. BUT I must admit that there are also a lot of reasons why I love it and that's why I'm convincing myself to analyze the plot and look for more reasons to be more in love with it.

So I'd like to talk about a few points:
1. Wouldn't it have been better if Ye Hua was actually Mo Yuan?
I felt so bad for the guy when he found out that his twin brother "snatched" his little Seventeenth. I mean, it was pretty obvious from the start that he liked Si Yin and knew that she was a girl. Plus, Si Yin was so devoted to Mo Yuan that she fed him her own blood for 70,000 years. Isn't that a good foundation for a good love story? -- Gosh, if only I was one of the writers. haha.

2. Wouldn't it have been better if the golden lotus was actually a part of Mo Yuan and when he died, a part of his spirit was reincarnated to become Ye Hua?
I was actually expecting that he was Ye Hua because Zhe Yan kept giving hints and even comments about Ye Hua having similar characteristics with Mo Yuan and--if I'm not mistaken--a similar vibe/aura, too. Identical twins may look similar but they have different personalities.

-----Gosh, I'm still at #2 and I'm already beginning to realize why I'm not 100% happy with this drama. There are so many inconsistencies. If I don't stop here, I might end up writing down an entire book of complaints. haha.

So yeah, what do you think?

For real? I'm seriously in need of another historical drama that would help me move on from Eternal Love - Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. I enjoyed the beginning and the end of that drama but not so much the middle part. So I'm really intrigued if this drama is something that I would like from the beginning to the end.

What kind of ending did you have in mind?
No, don't apologize. I'm happy that you shared your thoughts on this and I enjoyed reading everything.

I agree with the bittersweet ending. This is my second Chinese wuxia/fantasy drama. The first was Nirvana in Fire which I binge-watched for 5 days. I really liked the drama except for the bittersweet ending. However, I realized that not all endings need to be happy. Sometimes, a sad one is necessary.

When Ye Hua died and Bai Qian took his body, I thought she would preserve it in the cave and feed him blood like she did with Mo Yuan's. I was surprised that she didn't. And although I was expecting Ye Hua to be revived, I kind of hoped they would do it in a dramatic way.

The ending felt anti-climactic and now that I think about it, it also felt a bit rushed. Ye Hua came back to life without prior explanation. The circumstances were a bit too convenient to justify how his body was preserved and how he just went into a deep slumber and didn't really die.

So yeah, I would rather settle with a bittersweet ending and have Ye Hua visit Bai Qian in her dreams all the time. :)

I'm perfectly fine with happy ending I think it was well-deserved, but a part of me wished it was more bittersweet.

This drama started off really good for me. I found it very interesting and I enjoyed the different relationships the female lead had. However, I slowly lost interest when I got to episode 33.

This is my second 50-episode drama after Nirvana in Fire so I'm not really used to lengthy dramas. But I find this one painfully slow. It's a tad too long for my liking and too detailed for my poor brain. I could skip 10 to 12 episodes' worth of screen time without missing any important information.

In addition, the foolish misunderstandings between the characters got me pulling my hair out. It's frustrating to see how relationships are ruined because of foolish assumptions and lack of communication.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story and would definitely miss this drama. Watching it has been a part of my daily activities for the past 15 days. It has become a part of my life and I will surely miss my favorite characters.

The moment I heard the Meteor Rain song sang by F4 in the teaser, my heart was bursting with all sorts of emotions. I miss the original Meteor Garden and I'm very happy they used F4's original song. Although I'm scared that they are going to mess this one up, I'm also curious to see how this one would turn out. PLUS, the one who plays Dao Ming Si is gorgeous. ^^

I can't believe how stubborn I am to have waited this long to watch this drama. It's so enchanting and it keeps me wanting to see more. I'm still on episode #2 but I must admit that it's making me so happy right now.

Almost done with episode 1 and boy oh boy I'm starting to have a serious SLS.
I love Lee Jong Suk. I do. But man, Lee Sang Yeob caught my eye (and stole my heart) since Signal.
I think I'm going to have a hard time accepting the main couple on this one.

EDIT:
I take it back. Lee Sang Yeob's character might not be what I expected. Will comment on the SLS again once I'm done watching the drama.
