How can Blade of the Immortal not be here? That one is a masterpiece!
It was honestly a tough choice to decide which action piece to include after crows zero and I honestly just flipped a coin because I couldn't decide >< a stellar film though [okay hand emoji]

I hope that sarcasm lol. Because someone is storing our data, as long as someone got it, they are subjected to…
You literally said they were gathering our info to sell.

They already have all our emails? They'd have done it by now; especially considering not every user is going to be adding their phone number so they'd be at a loss. The fact it's opt in, shows that they're not doing this.

We aren't being hostile. We're defending the admins from legitimate allegations that they're selling our numbers
Your exact words: Also why the need for our phone number? This is nothing but a ploy to obtain our phone number so they can sell it to advertising company and we will get spammed -.-
You're accusing them of stealing our data to steal.

And small sites like this? The data is useless. There's not that many users (I want to say 30k but my memory is fuzzy)
Now say there's 30 thousand people on this site.
Netflix/viki already has 10 thousandpeoples info.
Amazon has probably 5 thousand numbers.
Google has tracked 25 thousand of the 30 thousand initial. Google knows you have a pregnant friend you bought a baby onesie for last month.

So essentially, MDL would have 5k numbers and emails to sell which would come to to not even a month's server charges.

There's literally no point for them to do it and you are ignorantly IGNORANTLY accusing them of such.

Also, amazon has actually had serious breaches back in 2018, and hackers accessed many numbers AND addresses, which means a majority of the spam mail you're currently getting both physical and email are 70-80% from amazon.

If you don't want your phone number on the site *DONT PUT IT ON YOUR ACCOUNT*. But you don't get to accuse the admins who have spent their festive period working constantly on the site for us. It's that simple.

Don't make allegations and don't add your phone number to your account.

"the vip r so mean TT"
You're making allegations that can be considered illegal in some countries. Shut up and educate yourself.

Not to sound rude, but you won't. It's that simple.
I agree with Henry, you just sounded more like you had this question a lot already. I just asked bc of my anxiety heh

This, 100%. ^^
Thanks for handling that with slightly more grace than I did ><

so..everyone will have that check?
Noticed this was unanswered when browsing thread:
Its opt in, so you decide yourself if you want to provide your number for mobile verification; only the users who choose to do this get the tick. Not sure what the stars are next to some peoples names but ^^

i feel like such a celebrity with this verified symbol next to my user even tho it’s not related to that in…
100% made me think of Twitter and for a moment it took me a moment to click it wasn't a verified celeb acc :')

This is so inaccurate its painful. Sites like amazon are more likely to sell your number than a site like MDL. Amazon have in fact been on hot water for selling addresses, phone numbers etc. The case ratio of big sites compared to smaller sites such as MDL shows that bigger sites (Google, who have trackers to stalk your every internet move and sell your info, Instagram, twitter, Facebook, etc) are 80% more likely to use your number for a ploy. If you don't want the risk of your data stolen than not being funny you should probably not be on the Internet at all.

Steaming sites such as Netflix and viki risk having their users credit/debit card data hacked. Non legal streaming sites can easily slip viruses into your system such as a trojan or a "copy virus" (essentially saving any info you type in ie a credit card number) and steal your info that way.

Atm machines run a much higher risk of being tampered with (2000 was stolen from 3 elderly people in my home recently with a simple recording chip placed in the card slot).

This risk is absolutely everywhere in the modern age and to accuse the MDL staff of doing something like this
1) I assume then you don't do. Anything. You have all your money stored under your mattress?
2) is highly unfair to accuse them of such when verification is something all sites do that allow for another way to access your account should you lose password, email access etc.

I highly suggest you do your research before throwing allegations around.

Info source: my mom's a cop, I did a course in Internet safety and someone close to me is a software engineer who's well informed on viruses etc.

Ayy this is awesome!

Just a question, if we do receive texts from MDL past the verification code, how do we report to MDL? (I haven't, but I always like to know what to do should it happen)

Ahh ofc! I didn't connect it seeing her images but now you've said it, I can see it. She's an awesome actress, I'm going to have to check her out further ^^

Most of the listed are just Idol-Shit. I won't put Hitsuji to Okami no Koi to Satsujinand Murder at Shijinsou(jonly…
They are still part of the horror genre and sold as horror films and some idol horrors are actually pretty decent (ie I rly enjoyed beyond the red which was just a promotional piece for an idol group but was still unique enough to be enjoyed as horror even when I wasn't a fan when I first watched it)

Same here to be honest; a lot of directors aren't going too far out of a safe zone and it's all becoming the same…
Also, just recommended this to someone else; try ignoring those bad things you know, the cohesive same plot as every other film etc and spot the tiny things. The distinct soundtracks, the specific editing and cinematography for some scenes etc. I found I enjoy a lot more after 600+horrors finding smaller things that other films don't always do that make films a little better; even if it's still a 5/10, you still have a slightly more positive film experience ^^ (if you don't already do this!)

To be honest, alot of horror films out there aren't any good, it's rare for a good horror film to come out, the…
100% agree, although I'm gonna say Hereditary sucked and it makes me nervous to watch Midsommar bc it's the same director. I found him playing it too safe with HD; he started more daring things which he didn't fully play out. Actually reminded me of some Jhorror films I watched as a kid, the car scene was the best horror aspect one (included it in the list as its easily one of the top rated of Western horror of 2019).

100% agree. Partly why I was so upset with Sadako was although you could feel the love from the original director, it just didn't have the unique charm it needed. House is the only one I have to watch on that list and I def agree with you!!

I feel though, just because a film isn't 9/10 doesn't mean its a bad film. I find a lot of 5-7/10 can be really good. I'm accompanied to the bad horror tropes and acting etc now so I can ignore them in favour of the really cool way the director had it filmed, how the soundtrack changed my emotions etc. If you don't do this, I rec trying a few films like that ^^ I found I enjoy a lot more horror films after 600+ than you would usually.

Great article, for me though, I think I haven't watched a really good Japanese horror for like 15 years now...
Same here to be honest; a lot of directors aren't going too far out of a safe zone and it's all becoming the same thing. One cut of the dead seems promising and some on the list do look somewhat promising but not 9/10 out of 10s unfortunately

Thank you sooo much for this article! I'm far from a horror fan but a well made horror with a good plot is always…
You're welcome! I hope if you see the 4 I listed that you enjoy them better than I did >< most non massive/obsessive horror fans will find these rly good movies but for me (I rly should start warning people on my articles) I've seen 600+ and they just. Didn't quite do it for me at all unfortunately ><

I haven't seen much of his action, but I do like what I've seen. But then again what I've seen is yakuza so you can't 100% tell. I'd recommend giving them a try tho! They do have a pretty high average across sites.

Shibasaki Ko? I can't say I've heard of them/recognise the name. I'll have to look into them
