I don't care what it's about, I just want to see these two again. I hope this airs someday and I can watch it, as heartbreaking as it will probably be...
Because it so dark, and immoral. Even though it’s meant to be entertaining, movies do influence some people’s…
Does it get better as it progresses ? Like is there justice or redemption or someone call on them for their lack or ethics something like that, or are all the characters immoral ? I wanted to watch for Cai Wen Jing but now I'm not sure lol. You can spoil me, I'd rather know if it's worth watching or not.
Thanks but why would people expect a BL from this ? That weird there's nothing either in the synopsis or the tags…
Yeah, in basically every drama where there are two MLs that look nicely at each other people will say that I think, even worse if it has a bromance. Doesn't make it true though.
It seems that many viewers came to Insect Detective expecting a Boys’ Love (BL) storyline, but that's not what…
Thanks but why would people expect a BL from this ? That weird there's nothing either in the synopsis or the tags that could lead to thinking that. But anyway, thanks for clarifying just in case lol.
Thank you for the explanation!Somehow I didn´t get the part, where they say that he went to police school. I…
No problem : ). Absolutely ! The first time I watched I felt like it wasn't clear as well. When I rewatched it though I was like "duh that was obvious, they talk about it here and there and here" but somehow I didn't get it the first time. How familiar you are with the language and how comfortable with reading subtitles you are impact of lot of your understanding (and appreciation). Yeah it's a short drama indeed, that's both a good and a bad thing I guess lol. I think the pacing is really good but you can't really blink or you'll misunderstand or miss some things.
"4. The most 'preachy' moment I've noticed in all these series is here in SHE, where our lead kinda took a swipe at transgenderism and basically suggested it's not a thing. The message was directed at a girl who was strapping in her chest. She was told she's a girl, deal with it, stop strapping yourself in -- and if she feels boyish and wants to live more boyish, fine -- but don't get carried away. In America this message is verbotten and so I'm wondering who is brainwashing who." 👍
It is said multiple times in the drama that Shen Yi went to police school, right after he burned his paintings. He is officially a cop. His extreme portraitist profession is real, there are a few people like him in China. The writers researched a lot, all the cases are more or less based on real cases and all the actual work Shen Yi does is what is more or less done by people like him (with some dramatisation happening). As for plot holes, there are many instances in cases where they jump to conclusions for the plot I agree.
all chinese BL dramas are censored adaptations of the original work. doesn't make them a romance any less. calling…
I'm a "holier than thou" bromance watcher. I do not like BLs. Bromances adapted from BL novels are "technically" bromance dramas (dramas focused on displaying a strong platonic love between two male characters, including blood related characters, without sexual attraction behind it) but with the base material being BL, it's very equivocal. Most people will watch them and review them with a BL interpretation in mind (as you can see here).
If you like actual gay romances and not platonic bromances, censored adaptations might not be satisfactory enough to you but you can still interpret them romantically pretty easily I guess.
It also always depends on how you personally define love and if you think it needs to be romantic to be "Love" or not. I kind of think the term bromance for these shows is probably misleading and a misuse of the word, but anyway...
The censored gay romance isn't that at all ,,, when they censor it ,, it's real friendship such as justice in…
When I like a drama I always need to watch it twice or even three times in a row lol, I did it recently with Unnatural Fire and Live Surgery Room. So I get the "watching on repeat" xD.
Who cares !! live in your sinful minority don't blame us for the truth
That's scary. I don't know rednote but I know China monitors religious affiliations very closely. Most sites like Facebook and the like if you're not in the same political group as those who monitor it then you'll be excluded anyway.

I haven't watched it but when you present it like that, it seems like it would be bordering on underage romance to ship them. But I guess when they can romantically ship two blood-related people together, underage is no issue lol...
But the novel it's based on is a gay romance right ? I've seen in the tags it was an adaptation of same-sex romance. That's why I'm very cautious with those. Too ambiguous. And people will go crazy if you say it's not romance anyway because it's based on one.
But at the same time I'm glad China has this censoring going on, at least it limits the amount of actual gay romances among their dramas.

Seriously ?! It's insane, they can rage all they want about bl and lgbtq + and no-one would dare saying anything to them but if you don't support them you get warned and banned ? So much for freedom of opinion and speech lol.

Gosh I was scrolling through this insane comment section after seeing this drama in your list and I laughed seeing your answer to this comment xD. You're so right but I'm surprised no one tried to assassinate you here lol...
Nevermind, gave it a go and it's absolutely beautiful. And for all BL lovers here (like me), this is an actual…
Bromance is literally bromance. This is bromance. Platonic love between two males, brothers or not. Bromance initially does not mean gay romance you know ?
