Novel is not clear about who his love actually was. In novel, when SL asks XZ whether he knows who the real one is, XZ says 'only QY knows who his true love is'. And that is the end of it. There is no mention of who he chooses to be with in this lifetime or who his actual lover was. Neither it mentions about those two souls swapping their faces in this lifetime.

QingYe's scene was the last of it. But the "convo" that i mentioned is the convo between SL and XZ.

To put it down, this scene told us that he will be stripped of his God title and will be punished if he ever abuses his godly powers.

The other conversation that is upcoming will tell us, what will happen if he loses his godhood.

So it was an important side story.

That story was mainly to show us watchers what will be the consequence of XZ falling in love and acting on it. It was also to let know SL of the consequence if he is swayed. Soon there will be another conversation where the other half message of this conversation will be conveyed. SL finally understands the causes and effects.

In that scene where that honest officer(i can't remember his name, he is 2nd/3rd male lead) has hope for his liking in BaiLu but she remembers the past and just turns away. Its snowing, and they have umbrellas/share an umbrella. The day on which his mother dies back in his home.

You will change your mind real quick after watching upcoming episodes don't worry🤣

He just comes back everytime he dies. His name "fu sheng" means resurrection in chinese.

That indeed was a lesson, that scene highlights the consequences of a god disobeying heavenly rules. In the end, QingYe was deprived of everything- Godhood, His love. He had to lose both. It was a clear message to both of them(SL and XZ) to not to fall in love.
