I feel like the fl's resting face says "pity me" which is really annoying. I haven't liked her as a side character in other dramas, so I really can't watch her as the main character in this one.
the first episode is a good sample of the whole show. if you don't like it, then you probably won't enjoy the next 69 episodes. I personally didn't enjoy watching several women turn insane. all the manipulation and scheming...it's not my thing even if it's well made. at least I can cross this off my list now.
Does GTY actually have children already? When he spoke to ML brother I though he was just helping a woman but…
Manniang is never added as his concubine. Only GTY's female servants from the Gu household who he has slept with could be considered unofficial concubines. Since Manniang is a total outsider, she can only be called his mistress.
Does GTY actually have children already? When he spoke to ML brother I though he was just helping a woman but…
yes he had a mistress and 2 kids earlier in the story. she is called a mistress because she is not a concubine nor an unofficial concubine and because she has always been separate from the Gu household. There are many options for formally recognizing a woman as part of a man's household in some capacity. The fact that GTY has such an outside mistress and kids is to emphasize his naivety with women during his youth and how he is the black sheep of the family. She was a singer and because of that she would have a difficult time being added to a household as a low-ranked concubine. In this case, the Gu family is so high-ranking and also doesn't like GTY so they flatly refused to add his mistress to the household. Further spoiler: she is never made a concubine and her son conveniently dies from an untreated illness after she kidnapped only the son and ran away from GTY. The show is all about people's flaws and their growth as characters. GTY is older than Minglan and it would be totally unrealistic during those times if he didn't have a woman and illegitimate children from his young adult years. Another piece of it is that GTY told Minglan that his maternal family kept trying to kill him since he didn't have any heirs.
I dont know if it's just the translation I'm watching, but the amount of "wh*re"s and "sl*t"s being tossed around…
lol, some of the parts translated as "wh*re" are when I heard the Chinese word for "demon". but idk maybe calling a woman demon in Chinese is similar to "wh*re" in English.
The management of this page should be open to criticism of the aesthetic, cinematic and artistic values ββof…
lol, they are not a native English speaker but they are trying to make fun of your English? this person is genuinely crazy, ignore them and enjoy life π
also: the long and nasty comment below by sheiliashellas is the type of behavior that story of minglan frequently criticizes. if you want to see logical arguments lambasting such behavior, then dive into the show ππ
I normally dislike these kind of dramas that are almost entirely about scheming but overall I liked this one. originally, I just couldn't get into this drama, but then I found someone's episode-by-episode recap to guide me and was able to watch it (search cyn Lynn story of minglan recap). without that guide, I would be lost. she added great notes for what she picked up when rewatching the show too and that made the story a lot more interesting for me. her comments made me lol a lot too.and here's a tip for others like me: the series starts when the FL is a little girl 6/7 years old. idk why I was confused about that but I was, lol. if you like stories centered on human relationships, dialogue, and suspense then this is for you. there are many witty remarks and well-said commentary about ancient Chinese society. it's not usually what I like to watch, so it's a good sign that I still found each episode interesting anyway.
