Learning a language via dramas is good but if you're not using it in your daily life, then you don't really qualify…
If you already decided to go then why are you asking in the comments? Mind you, I speak mandarin in my daily life, and I grew up watching Chinese dramas so I know watching dramas can help one learn to speak a language fluently. But that's only if you use it in your daily life as well; you said you didn't. What you're expecting is to use your job to teach yourself mandarin, meanwhile your job possibly expects YOU to HELP them with Chinese translation or the Chinese community. What happens if your job expects you to translate for someone who speaks complete mandarin, are you able to do translate? No. What happens if they expect you to translate a document? Are you able to translate that as well? Doesn't seem like it judging from your comments. What happens if someone speaks a different Chinese language, for example Cantonese, will you be able to communicate? Yes, cantonese people can understand mandarin, but you won't be able to understand them. So far, many mandarin speakers I know can understand Cantonese, do you think you can do that while working? I'm not being rude, I'm being honest based on the info you gave. I don't think you understand the problem if you do end up with this job; you're deceiving the community. I had coworkers where employerers thought they spoke Cantonese or mandarin, they didn't and I had to pick up the slack as a the sole translator. Don't be that kind of person is what I'm trying to say.

It's not really fun if you're lying about your ability to speak mandarin. lol You shouldn't bridge a gap when you can't even even speak it in real life. You're just pretending to be someone you're not, and that's dishonesty in the work field. I would not recommend it.
The job expects you to communicate in mandarin with the Chinese community or translate it somehow. You are in over your head to think watching cdramas deem you as fluent. You're not.
Is this really wuxia? It sounds more like historical than wuxia (judging from synopsis.) But whatever, the leads are know for amaizng acting so I am ready for this drama to air!
not sure about what video you are talking about, but Mango Tv took down several from BiliBili and Youtube, all…
I do speak it but it has nothing to do with whether I can speak Chinese or not? . But she's been hearing bad things about the show, she didn't watch the first ep but I did. My question was whether Lusi was suppose to do some charity work because the guy obviously expected her to do something.

i think you're misunderstanding my comment. I didn't say anything negative towards ZLS. My friend just sent me a video from YouTube of this guy mocking ZLS. But from my understanding, he is uneducated on how anxiety and other issues ZLS has been diagnosed with. Depression and anxiety is not something Chinese families talk about openly, and it shows in the video how ignorant he is of it. he thinks ZLS is very protected by her family and so on. All I know was ZLS went to this countryside to heal, but I wasnt sure other than that she said wanted to visit the kids because they make her happy. This is the video: https://youtu.be/b0YNouSBCDY?si=54fxIHltpBWnZGcN
My friend sent me a youtube video commenting on all the negative things ZLS did. Which majority of them is clearly based off of lack of education on mental illness obviously. But it seems people expect Lusi to do something for the charity part of her reality show? Is this what she was suppose to do?I thought she was just going on a healing journey, she's not doing anything but trying to relax, be far away from city life, heal her current mental state, etc. The fundraiser part is the all broadcasting profit goes to charity. No????
