her brother in law's younger brother
You're talking about India. I'm pretty sure marrying your younger brother in law is looked down upon in SK, if not most of East Asian culture.

Title Serendipity Spoiler
Whoever wrote the force marriage needs to be fired. Terrible way to introduce the characters to the audience.

Learning a language via dramas is good but if you're not using it in your daily life, then you don't really qualify…
If you already decided to go then why are you asking in the comments? Mind you, I speak mandarin in my daily life, and I grew up watching Chinese dramas so I know watching dramas can help one learn to speak a language fluently. But that's only if you use it in your daily life as well; you said you didn't. What you're expecting is to use your job to teach yourself mandarin, meanwhile your job possibly expects YOU to HELP them with Chinese translation or the Chinese community. What happens if your job expects you to translate for someone who speaks complete mandarin, are you able to do translate? No. What happens if they expect you to translate a document? Are you able to translate that as well? Doesn't seem like it judging from your comments. What happens if someone speaks a different Chinese language, for example Cantonese, will you be able to communicate? Yes, cantonese people can understand mandarin, but you won't be able to understand them. So far, many mandarin speakers I know can understand Cantonese, do you think you can do that while working?
I'm not being rude, I'm being honest based on the info you gave. I don't think you understand the problem if you do end up with this job; you're deceiving the community. I had coworkers where employerers thought they spoke Cantonese or mandarin, they didn't and I had to pick up the slack as a the sole translator.
Don't be that kind of person is what I'm trying to say.

It's not really fun if you're lying about your ability to speak mandarin. lol You shouldn't bridge a gap when you can't even even speak it in real life. You're just pretending to be someone you're not, and that's dishonesty in the work field. I would not recommend it.

The job expects you to communicate in mandarin with the Chinese community or translate it somehow. You are in over your head to think watching cdramas deem you as fluent. You're not.

Only 2 episodes out so maybe it's really too early to judge but I've been skipping a ton of boring scenes so that's not a good sign.
