I've been into watching Seo In Guk dramas lately, so I decided to read the reviews on this one and maybe give it a try, but i'll probably skip it until I feel like watching a historical drama. I did find funny how one of the reviews says that there isn't enough romance, but one person below in the comments, dropped it because there was too much romance. xD lol
i dont know if you've noticed but there is a culture here on MDL that discourages any kind of criticism. i know…
A culture on MDL that discourages any kind of criticism?? I feel it's the exact opposite! Then again, most of the criticism is not really to be taken seriously. Most of the times, reviews are without depth, objectivity and very partial. For example you get reviews in certain dramas from people, that go from gushing and praising to boring af and overrated. None of that helps me decide on the quality of the story, the acting and everything that comes with a drama. It's not that someone had some negative or positive thoughts about a drama. It's that those thoughts are very biased and don't help me at all. Reading that a drama was "boring af" is not a review. Same as reading "omg this drama was A-MA-ZIIIING" is also not a review. Questioning why a drama has a high rating when you gave it a 5? That is not a review. That only makes me doubt people's judgment. Much like the article author when said: "Did we watch the same drama?" I feel the same way... Did we watch the same drama? This why I tend to chalk it up to personal preference after reading many a review here on MDL.
Don't get me wrong, I truly like this website, maybe that's why I wrote with such strong feelings about this. MDL has enabled me to find so many good dramas to watch. Many article and review here on MDL have introduced me to new dramas, new actors and actresses, that I would have missed otherwise. I care about finding that hidden gem to watch, being introduced to something different or getting thrown in a roller coaster of emotions that only certain dramas can give you. In the end, perhaps, these types of articles are just not aimed at someone like me.
I have to agree that I would much rather read articles about dramas someone loved from: the year, a particular…
You know, I almost did pass this one article, like I did the others of the same kind. I guess it was just the last drop for me ^^;; maybe it did come across as harsh but it was not meant to be. Maybe I'm just too passionate when I try to make a point ^^;; I have to agree with you. For a person that has watched over 200 dramas, I'm on that stage where I have seen pretty much every trope and every plot twist, every cliché and every kiss scene... well perhaps not everything, but I am constantly looking for that one drama that I may have missed, that really makes you think, or pulls at your heartstrings. Even if it's an old one, i'll give it a try ^^ I can't wait for your recommendations. I'll check your list too and let you know ^^
I'm honestly getting bored with all of these "articles" where people list all the dramas they dropped or the dramas that everyone liked but they didn't, or some similar crap like that. I don't care what score you gave a drama or if you dropped it or if it failed to live up to your expectations. Everyone is going to have different tastes when it comes to storytelling, genres, actors and actresses and other number of variables.
A drama with a 8+ score or more, got it because it made a lot of people happy, but that is no guarantee that is going to make "you" or any other person happy, and you giving it a lower score, just says a lot about who you are and your personal preference, not the actual quality of the drama.
I've disliked dramas that other people enjoyed, but it didn't make me question the high rating, because other peoples preferences are not my problem. Just because it was boring for me, it doesn't mean the drama was boring for them. This only made me more selective when searching for a drama to watch, and that's what you should do too.
Watch a drama because you like the writer and the director's previous works for example. Watch a drama because your favorite actors and actresses are doing something different in terms of the characters they play. Watch a drama because you like the genre and the plot seems engaging. Don't watch a drama because the score was high. That high score won't always match your preference. I would have much preferred an article where you list dramas you liked, the score you gave and why you did so. Maybe I could find something new to watch.
I really like parts of this show, but I feel like they are over doing it with all the different storylines and…
I have to agree. I have said this before. They have too much going on. It's like I'm watching 2 dramas in 1. All the plots are very interesting, but unfortunately, they are all over the place . When they finally touch back with the characters in previous episodes, I no longer recall those people or details. I actually need to go back and watch again.
I have watched all of these dramas except for Jealousy Incarnate. I enjoyed all of them at various levels. Some, like Suspicious Partner and Siren, I really liked the suspense, and the villain, so I focused on that. Others, like Tomorrow with you, I love the time travel conundrum, or the parallel universe, fantasy sort of thing in W, so I focused more on that. The romance is just a side story for me, not the main plot. This list just goes to show, that we all have different tastes and take away different aspects from each drama that we watch. For example, I can't, for the life of me, understand the hype around the Descendants of the Sun. Maybe I expected too much. It just didn't hit the spot for me. We are all different people, and it would be pretty weird if we all liked the same sort of thing. This doesn't mean that the drama you love sucks, or that drama you dropped turns out to be excellent. It just means that : You like what you like, and that's that. You don't really have to justify it. It just didn't click ^_^
The fact that Haram can't see shadows on black clothes is something Black just assumed because she couldn't see…
That reason makes no sense to me, since she should have seen it while he was at the hospital wearing hospital clothes... There needs to be another explanation.
This drama is a complete mess. The plot is intriguing, but it is all over the place. Too many characters, too much confusion, too much side crap, including the whole grim reaper plot. If I don't drop this one, i might need to watch it again to fully grasp the story. Also, the whole wearing black clothes, then I can't see your shadow, is really weak. Cuz if she can't see it during the day because of black clothes or sunglasses, then how is she gonna spot it at night? Bah, i'm not convinced. Gonna have to ignore that bit if I want to finish this one.
So, in Korea someone that claims to be your father can just get the deposit money on your apartment, barge in and steal the rest of your money and nothing happens lol. k-dramas logic is infuriating sometimes.
So far I haven't cried, but I have raged non stop watching this. If you're a person that hates injustice, people being pushed around and bullied, people that don't stand up for themselves and similar tropes, then don't watch this drama. I'm at episode 2 and I had to stop several times because my rage levels were through the roof. I felt like punching every character for either being a pushover or a bully. I haven't finished the second episode yet and I already can tell how predictable this is going to be. They will quietly suffer through all this rudeness and ill treatment and then somehow all the bad people will change or become good instead of getting bitch slapped by karma :/
Yet another drama that could be a 10 but got an 8 because of characters suddenly turning stupid, and killing an awesome character in such a dumb way, as if the only way for him to atone for his choices was to die like he did. Also robbing us the viewers of the satisfaction of seeing that grin be wiped off of Si Wan's face as he finally get's arrested for his crimes, but no. There is no closure, no nothing. And were they trying to set it up for season 2? Why would I watch anything else from this writer? Why do kdrama writers like to screw up endings like this?
I'm so angry right now. What was that ending? This drama was so amazing in the beginning. The island episodes were so thrilling and exciting. You had people with interesting stories, a badass female lead, lots of intrigue and a villain you could hate. Everything was fine until about 4 episodes ago, when the story just turns into comedy for some reason. The tone of the show completely changed. Then suddenly, not only the ending becomes absolutely unsatisfying, it gets worse when they all appear happy and laughing along side a cold blooded murderer........ I was literally gawking at the computer... I could not believe it. So a person that kills multiple people suddenly is forgiven by everyone. Murder is not a joke. I don't know what were the writers thinking, but everything the characters suffered at the hands of Tae Ho just became a complete joke. Of all the absurd endings I've seen, this one tops it all. This drama could have been one of my all time favs, but with one episode it turns to crap. Thanks writers, you've ruined it. WTF DID I JUST WATCH.... SERIOUSLY.
What a wonderful and cute hidden gem this drama was. I wish they hadn't rushed so much information in the last episodes, but still, this warmed my heart. Totally recommend it. :)
I really don't know what to make of this drama. It has potential, but a lot of it is nonsense. I'm watching it for Jeon Ji Hyeon, but after 2 episodes they really need to do a better job on the plot/script. Some scenes are just so absurd -.-
