Cool, cool! Which of the series you watched this year, would you say was excellent?
I can see how that's possible. I skip his entire conversation with his father in Ep12 because yikes...but there are moments that I find deeply touching, when Pat goes to look for Jeng after learning the truth from Tae, the subtle searching of Jeng's face to see if he still loves him, the decision to unblock, the conversation in the kitchen about second chances and finally the sweetness that follows when both hearts are open. Wow.

I actually appreciated the story itself. A manager falling in love with a subordinate and the journey towards finally finding each other fraught with angst and high level tensions. I also appreciated the pacing and fact that the story telling had actual depth. Nothing was obvious. One had to actually think to figure out what was going on. This meant abandoning any preconceived ideas at some point. Ep7 as an example where I learned that being screamed at by an elder is viewed as deeply rude in Asia and its not uncommon to cry in such situations.
Granted, there were some annoying things about the characters, e.g. Pat's constant crying grated my nipples, but I didn't allow his flaws to overshadow his entire character. The acting was also not perfect, so I watched with some generosity and suspended my judgment deciding to give them grace due to their (lack of) acting experiences.
I hope I am making some sense. Let me know what you think.

Moonlight Chicken is at the top of my list for 2023 as a well crafted story from the writing, directing to the acting and editing. Wow!
Jack O Frost from Japan was another gem. As BL fans we're always asking for an established relationship and this drama gave us that and more.
Somewhat unpopular, Step by Step. I feel like I appreciated what they were trying to do there and I still rewatch Ep12 even today.
Of course, the two you mention as well amazing!
I also have to confess that Only Friends caught me off guard, but I think I relaxed into it and started looking forward to the chaos. As a sweet and fluffy romance drama fan, I was not attracted to this very noisy aesthetic, but then I watched earnestly and yeah, I was surprised and it became my guilty pleasure.
2023 has just been a busy BL year and we cannot watch everything. Waaaay too many options! A good thing, I reckon.
12 Episodes was really a lot for this series. This should have been 8 and the rest given to Only Friends, because so much chaos was still possible over there. @_@
I'm almost certain these two are trying to kill me. I was so deeply involved when they were together on that bed. The gentle touches, the reluctant kisses, the soft voices. Shun Yu was being so vulnerable, I was lapping it all up and then BOOM!!
As a fan of sweet and fluffy BL, this series was an entire guilty pleasure. I found myself looking forward to every Saturday to witness the debauchery! Thank you to all the creatives for a tantalising 12 weeks out of 2023!

I've started rewatching the series for the chemistry between ZeRui and ZongYi . Their love story is so endearing to me.
Why is it necessary? It feels like we're being punished for loving these series.
