Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
I heard they are not siblings, but do they grow up like siblings or does she just pity him? I am not a fan of…
FL was sent to live elsewhere since childhood, so they didn't grow up together.

Even after visiting her grandma (and thus where her family lives) each year on her grandma's birthday, she never once came across paths with him because he was always excluded & told to stay in his compound (black sheep).

Their first time meeting in over a decade is when the story starts, and neither of them recognized each other.

Regarding when they were kids: FL was a complete menace/bully to everyone around her including him despite him being nice to her, so I don't think either one had a soft spot for each other

Newsflash, the novel sucks balls because of the pedophilic overtones and nobody wants to watch a romantic drama…
this comment came out of left field 😭😭

Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
1) she’s the main wife so all the kids - legitime and born of concubines - have to call her mother 2) it appears…
Thank you so much!! I had to rewind for #3 because I was still confused (and still am)

It's at the 14 minute mark of Ep2 on iqiyi.

Mama Li was originally from the Qiao family too and moved in. Li's husband died right after Lady Qiao's miscarriage and they spent all their money to treat his illness

I'm usually excited for further spoilers but for this drama, I'm excited to discover #2 so I will wait and watch!

Title The Rise of Ning Spoiler
I'm enjoying it but I have so many questions (pardon my 2 braincells) :(

1) Didn't FL's mom die? Who is the lady in yellow she calls Mother?
2) So are FL and ML half-siblings? Just yes or no would be nice T_T
3) The head servant of Lady Qiao/purple mistress - it was mentioned in Ep.2 that the head servant was a widow with no kids, whose husband had died shortly after FL moved to the villa, but they tried treating his illness. What is the significance of that? How does it fit into the plot? Did he have an affair with Lady Qiao or what?

Thank you if anyone can answer any of these questions!😭

I picked this up for a casual/background watch and I actually am really enjoying it!

The plot is out of the ordinary for me in a good way - three couples (yay!), presumably happy ending, already established couple, begins with an amnesiac lead (usually amnesia happens midway in the plot which I dislike bc it's just to drag on the plot), and just a quiet but smart male lead trying to help his girl remember him and protecting her in small ways he can.

The ML here reminds me of four of my fav MLs combined lol... (Handsome Siblings, WRTW, and Romance on the Farm + the guy from Hungarian movie "The Courtship"), granted he's not very expressive but I kind of like that. I like the FL's acting as well and they look good together

Idk there could be greater but also worse dramas to watch (like Gilded Chopsticks where it was sooo great and cozy and cute in the beginning but devolved into a melodramatic mess a la dramas in the early 2000s) πŸ₯Ί I'll stick with this and try not to get too emotionally invested

Title My Demon
A bit out of place but I really like the cinematography of this drama,
They really know what they're doing. A bit unrelated but I also love how it's edited, they capitalize on the intentionally awkward/funny scenes and zoom into the character's faces like in Parks and Recreation/budget reality TV 😭😭

I can't wait for each episode every week, and it is going to extend for more than one month. So, I've decided…
i never used to watch airing shows & would watch completed, but i highly recommend this one to watch while airing!! there's just something fun anticipating it each week especially with how entertaining, comedic and easygoing the story is (like it won't leave you on the edge from cliffhangers, but you'll still be anticipating it all the same)

edit: also i haven't watched any song kang dramas past 1-2 eps (i just didn't enjoy the genres) but he's SO good in this!! i always thought he was a serious actor but he's super hilarious here and really nails his role :)

8.7? Only selling point of the drama is their visuals. Storyline is shit .MDL ratings getting wrose these days.
The storyline and romance line falls short beyond the first 2 eps :(( But the leads and Bok Gyu are carrying this, as is the directing, the editing, the music (everything aside from the story) so it's still enjoyable. Considering all the factors that go into a production + i luv the leads, I'll still watch it πŸ₯Ί
On Romance on the Farm Oct 26, 2023
i went in with zero expectations and this drama is such a vibe. the music, the scenery, the comedic timing, the screaming aunties, the tropes, i literally don't know why i'm watching a drama about families but i'm flying through the episodes and idek what im watching for.

it reminds me of my favorite games (MMOs like RO and farming sims like sdv & hm), and the amount of romance is perfect for a casual watch! i love that it's not the one thing stringing the episodes along. he's kind of just hanging around and ever-present and i like that! the amount of romance is kind of like wrtw & the handsome siblings (i havent watched many cdramas but loved those).

the comedy is perfect, the characters all deliver in their role!!

Title Destined with You Spoiler
He hasnt broken up with his gf TEN episodes in? Sure, she is trash but WHY IS HE A COWARD!! He broke up w/ her…
So to sum up my current understanding now: we can infer that he and Na Yeon were introduced through their parents; she pursued him relentlessly until he gave in. Since he resigned himself to this curse, he had to go with his parent's orders that he marry soon and have children. Since he's in this predicament, and 100% resigned to his fate, he had nothing to lose by going with it because it would help his family's relations and status.

And, despite dating, he and Na Yeon weren't close at ALL and we can assume he kept her at arm's length. He's OK with dating though (life literally can't get any worse), that is, until he meets Hong Jo; falls in love for the very first time; and has zero idea how to go about it logically (love spell definitely not helping his case here).

Thanks for taking time out of your day to insult those asking genuine questions, and to flex how smart you are among the masses without explaining...anything. Very kind and helpful of you!

He hasnt broken up with his gf TEN episodes in? Sure, she is trash but WHY IS HE A COWARD!! He broke up w/ her…
@VeeVeeVee, Thank you for thoughtfully taking the time to explain, in the way that you did, all the things I may have missed while watching! It turns out I'd actually...written that comment while I was watching episode 9, but either way was 100% feeling conflicted between how much I wanted to love this drama, and how wrong it felt to see him pursue her.

I realized I'd begun turning off my brain early on because of the comedic tempo (which I love!), and completely when Sin Yu began dropping those cheesy lines nonstop (which I LOVED) so it led me to missing a lot of important cues. A light-hearted comedy became my expectation for the story - and of course in those types of dramas, they usually make the reasons for certain plot choices extremely apparent so viewers can follow along more easily.

I definitely recall her "chasing" him and him remaining passive toward her; and that his relationship is clearly advantageous for their families, but those scenes didn't have the typical emphasis I'm used to from other dramas (comedic or not) to stress the severity of the situation. The scene where their families had dinner together, while awkward, didn't evoke that certain kind of tenseness I usually see.

Because we don't get the chance to see him struggling later on with his condition for the past few episodes, I'd also written off the sense of urgency/responsibility in him having to marry someone because it was touched on only early in the series.

I was aware that they tried highlighting the complexity in relationships, and that nothing is ever black or white which is great to see - especially between Hong Jo's direct report and supervisor, and in the relationship between Sin Yu's parents! But because I'd tuned out the majority of the way, I missed the cues for our main couple, and him pursuing Hong Jo in his circumstances just didn't feel quite right or justifiable.

All this definitely settled my question of "Why won't he just BREAK UP WITH HER!!" But... even now, understanding this, it still feels irresponsible of Sin Yu to see Hong Jo, kiss her, meet her, or call her because he's still putting Hong Jo in a rough spot of "will he, won't he" and making her hopeful. He clearly has the upper hand here, and I hate to see my girl lose when she's so sweet and willing to rectify her mistakes ):

Admittedly this is his first time actually loving someone *fated for him*, and in his situation I'm pretty sure I wouldn't fare much better, but like... you know that if word gets out at work, this is mainly going to put her in a bad spot, not even including you - especially with how she was treated before right? Sin Yu?! I can't say I prefer the typical MLs who just ghost the FLs for a few episodes and make her cry "for her own good" either, but there are other ways to go about it that I would've loved to see.

It's just weird to reconcile him acting very cool and in pain in the first few episodes (they set him up to seem like a talented, responsible lawyer with a sense of justice and a very "I'm done w/ life" sense of humor), to him under the love spell and in the current episodes (puppylike, silly, wavering). I mean, I like both, but his handling of the situation atm? Not very great!! My man pls... spare your girl.

In terms of getting me to feel anything other than passivity about this drama, though? It has me hooked. I'm 100% glued to the screen and might go back and rewatch the first few eps with different expectations.

I loved the first 5 episodes sooo much but can someone who loves this drama tell me why on earth....
He hasnt broken up with his gf TEN episodes in? Sure, she is trash but WHY IS HE A COWARD!! He broke up w/ her initially but decides to get back w/ her and not oppose the wedding date or anything? Isnt his curse already healed at this point? Why is he leading the FL on and why is she floundering and reciprocating too. πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

Trust me, they are so cute together but 10 eps in now I can't go on if they keep having skinship/scenes like this totally forgetting that he's still in a relationship, has NO reason holding him back from breaking it off w/ his gf but doesn't + puts FL and gf in a weird position as a result.

He tells the shaman that he feels he should stay loyal to his gf when he already went ahead and kissed the FL!? They keep meeting even after FL explains everything to GF??

That concern is literally the only but biggest one i have about this series lolll πŸ˜” I love the chars sm and the secondary characters too, it gives me cozy HCCC vibes but whyyy, not like this!!

does this drama have fluff? I'm not a big fan of fluffy romance dramas. So I'd like to know if this drama would…
It's fluffy asf (honestly compared to other modern Cdramas, not as much), and exactly as you described. Except it's super cute! I always drop modern romance Cdramas, but I am enjoying this one despite slogging through the first 10 eps before it picks up.

The FL acts puppylike but she pulls it off very well. I really enjoy the ML's acting - his personality visibly (and subtly) changes from a dependable older bro who feels distant and views her a little sister, and when he gets closer to her after she meets him again in college, a bit more like his true personality where he's able to be more smug and playful. Not sure how to explain it but the dynamic shift is realistic so I feel engaged.

Idk I would just say go in with no expectations and maybe you'll be delightfully surprised.

Had to look over my shoulder while showering for a few weeks after I finished it and keep my eyes open so I wouldn't have flashbacks of some scenes esp. the noh masks.

I rarely watch Tw drama and this was greatly shot and directed! The intro is slick.
