I'm on ep 3 now and I have mixed feelings. If Tang Qi sees beauty beyond appearance, he must have severely misunderstood Su Chengcheng in the past - seeing as how he's dismissive of her at the reunion and straight up approached her solely to ask her to reach out to Su Miao, no formalities, no thanks 😭 ...

It just unsettles me because he was so in awe and drawn to Su Miao and kept wanting to engage with her.

The way his character is acting right now is pretty much in line with my experience interacting with guys when I have makeup on vs when I have it off (full attention vs being ignored/treated dismissively). Can someone tell me if this is intentional? 😭 Are they trying to make it seem like he is seemingly that kind of guy (when he's actually not) bc I seethed silently every time it happened irl and want to smack dudes like this.

Title Life Is a Choice Spoiler
As to why the daughter appears at the ending/7 years scene:

It was 7 years in the original timeline, that the events in episode 1 happened: she was swindled, lost her daughter, her friend, mom, and herself.

In the final/current timeline, her mom is alive, and she is also alive. While FL's daughter no longer exists, the FL we've been following is the one who experienced all timelines, so Doudou remains in her memory.

The ending scene cuts to her and ML at the beach, in the current 7 year mark, and she sees Doudou again. She, ML and Doudou look toward the sky as text says it's an end and also the beginning.

In the original timeline, her consciousness only went up to the point she tried to end herself. However in this one, she reached the same checkpoint and is now continuing beyond that. Though she still made some mistakes in this timeline, she pushed forward and is living well.

The 7 years can be seen as the "ending" of that phase where everything was clouded and uncertain, where she finally receives closure from Doudou, and the "beginning" is the start of living onwards.

This was a sweet drama and I think, had it been released a decade back it would've been more popular, maybe. It…
My take assumes that time travel exists via ML/Su Yin's program, since many novels these days have that.

Tl;dr: FL and ML are alive, and it gives closure on her daughter from the original timeline.

Premise/summary:
After FL/Gu Nian loses her daughter in the first episode, she tries to end her life and is in the hospital. ML/Su Yin walks in shortly as she loses consciousness and she wakes up in his body, back in time where they were all in college.

Through living as Su Yin, she goes through her days trying to support her younger self and steer her in the right direction, to avoid all the mistakes she'd made.

The majority of the middle is spent in the timeline where she's the host of Su Yin's body. She finally leaves to the future and it's around ep 20+ where the plot advances heavily with a few more jumps in timelines.

The story is about picking up the pieces of yourself and letting go of guilt etc. etc. In all timelines, she was either stubborn/resistant to change the future (or along those lines), or was motivated to bring her daughter back to life, but gains more consciousness/control after each one (though it was super rushed).

It's in the final timeline where she learns to move on, with the ML being present in each timeline (in some way beyond her 1st one) + her mom being alive and encouraging her to not lose herself. Naturally, Doudou doesn't exist here.

The final scene can be interpreted in several ways. It shows them married for 7 years now, strolling on the beach, when they suddenly see Doudou, who's looking for her mom - that there's a big chocolate factory in the sky, and mothers pick one piece from there to be their child. Doudou is here to do the same. Gu Nian's response indicated to me that they'll reunite when the time eventually comes.

This was a sweet drama and I think, had it been released a decade back it would've been more popular, maybe. It was pretty enjoyable with some holes you had to fill in yourself. Don't pay 100% attention to it, watch it in the background.

Anyway! I watched this out of curiosity because no one explained the ending in the comments so I'm here to give you the premise and my take on the ending.

Also: this isn't a heavy romance drama, but it's there near the end and wholesome. If you watch it expecting any romance, kisses etc. then you will be starved like me 🥲😭😭

I just made it to ep 9. The story picked up at ep7 and I'm enjoying the current arc.

I havent watched any other Kang Full dramas but now I might, I love series that are interwoven by universe/charas etc. Drama is refreshing from the typical genres.

Would you recommend me this drama if I liked the others of kang full? even if I don't like the superpowers theme?

Title The White Olive Tree Spoiler
What? I was planning to start it. The characters die? Leads or support cast? Is it really tragic and traumatizing?
I scrolled far into the comments and some people believe they lived together/are alive, while others believe they died.

Like the "is it a blue or gold dress" or yanny/laurel audio.

I'm watching to see for myself but am keen to think they lived.

Would it be possible for you to recommend a drama where the dynamics between the ML and FL are balanced, rather…
Sure thing!
Blossom - quite even balance. first half is fun and quick, more mystery than romance. second half is a bit boring as it focuses on domestic drama (FL+ML against his terrible extended family). but it's the most screentime i've seen of husband-wife teamwork which is refreshing
The Rise of Ning - this one gives a fair share of POV for ML and FL. I really enjoyed this one, it's a light and warm story.
Who Rules the World - interesting balance. the story follows FL's POV a bit more, while having a heavier focus on ML plot/backstory. it's one of my favorites

I had this one on my radar because I'd watched the main leads in another drama and liked their chemistry. I avoid sad dramas, but was still drawn into this one for some reason, and now I'm 5 episodes in.

So far I think they've broached this topic and events (not to mention, creating a solid adaptation) well & carefully with as much respect as they could. In each scene in town and what transpires, I question myself how I'd react in the same situation.

Song Ran's motivations to volunteer were never divulged in a monologue with heroic reasons (which I was intentfully waiting for), but shown, although it was disappointingly conveyed. In contrast, the actions of her coworker who's pursuing Ah Zan & sees Song Ran as an obstacle both in work & love - so seemingly minute in comparison - is also a perfect example of the motives/wants of someone who had always been safe & removed from the situation at hand.

I'm not sure if I'll be mentally prepared to finish it but I can't stop watching! I always strictly watched happy dramas to lighten my mood from regular worries about work and life. While this one is serious, it mainly evoked feelings of gratefulness and I was moved, beyond the superficial and fleeting happiness I normally chase.

All my worries seemed so small in comparison, the drama lifted them.

I made it 17 eps in but may be putting it on hold. I adore the main leads, though the Qian Fan's personality at times is a bit too crass and I guess I don't jive with the humor here. Not a fan of the tea guild head's scenes

However, it's not every day you get THIS casting and this type of directing. It feels very much like an older 2000s drama esp. episode 1 with the greenscreen as they row on the stream, rare and precious in a time where things are more stylized and modern.

Had it been released earlier, maybe the 2010s when most cdramas still had tragic endings, I deeply feel this one could have become the golden standard to flip that completely.

right! i should have seen it coming when her friend was like "did you hire [ ] because i made mistakes?" and similar lines 😢 things like this made the drama feel so so real bc it's likely irl, we don't notice it in our loved ones until it's too late.

she had SO much depth as a character and i appreciated that about the drama, very rarely do supporting characters get this level of thought and care put into them.

wei fang trying to guide her into a clearly better life for her made me so hopeful. and though she tried to adapt, just couldn't, because the values she was raised with/conditions she was exposed to were already so engrained in her. it was something she was used to for however many years she was alive and not having the (extremely toxic) "affection" etc. tied to her self worth, made her feel like something was missing, even though by all reasoning, it is far far worse 😭

went through so many feelings when she finally broke. i was like YES when she decided to not put up with the man at long last, but sad to see she was driven to the point of killing him + herself, instead of fighting to escape and survive like wei fang. their choices diverging because of self-esteem + the environment they grew up in early on + how they viewed the value of their life as a result was executed well.

i didn't intend to yap so much hahah but this is one of the few dramas i intently watched all the way through from ep1 to the last! excited for pt.2

I really enjoyed this drama and watched it all within one week! The last time I saw the female lead was in Battle of Changsha. She's great here and this was the perfect role for her.

- Casting was great, the leads don't look too distractingly beautiful, and are completely confident and embody their roles. Their chemistry together was fire (a quiet kind)
- I LOVE how they handled the ladies' friendship with each other in this drama. In others like Blossom, it is glossed over. There were times I found Wei Fang too patronizing to her first friend (the one beaten by her husband), but then I realized that's how her character is (mature/protective sister vibes)
- I would have liked to see ML's past explored further and ep32 less "summarized", but with how much is already packed in 32 eps (with nearly each ep being completely engaging, and all screentime fully utilized!), hard to fit in.
- She's the unluckiest FL I've ever seen esp. w/ the beginning 6 eps. But I was totally glued to the screen/didn't ffw, Yang Zi definitely carried

I love lin yi and want to watch this for him but after "he is psychometric" I've stayed away from shows with alexithymia.…
"cam someone please tell me if this shows him as a heartless, emotionless robot who has no morals or not."

He has morals and is a good person at heart. He's actually one of the sweetest male leads I've seen, unintentionally lol.

He's straightforward and really wants to empathize but genuinely can't, so he originally has closed himself off to not burden others because, throughout his life, he reached the conclusion that he just hurts people without realizing it.

He has feelings but can't put a name to them, and has trouble processing what they are or mean.

I'm really curious if this characterization is accurate or reflective of your experiences!

is this not good? I was looking forward to it 😭
It's a bit slow, and definitely a slice-of-life. I'm on ep 12 and it's been the same pace.

I can't really connect with the characters or their motivations and I haven't felt moved emotionally, but it's comforting in a way/cozy? No huge drama, good communication, characters are honest with each other.

The leads are refreshing IMO, they look young but are more emotionally sound and mature than many modern cdrama leads lol. I appreciate that they don't capitalize on tropes and are experimenting with a different kind of plot/characters/etc. Definitely try it! It's one of the only modern cdramas I have been able to push through.

She is lucky to have someone who is patient and can understand her. It is most definitely not you (or anyone else).

I'm not her, but am exactly like that. Your analogy is 100% correct - we need to hibernate for a long time and recharge to 100%, then deplete it fully, rinse and repeat. I wish it weren't the case. Maybe we are just cats :)
