No no, no one hates him. He's fine. Chinese viewers just know what type of person he may become in the future given by hints in the drama and by historical folklore and common plots in other dramas. His family did not kill her family. It's was the king, Shen and Lin were both in hot spots but Shen decided to stay true to their conscience hence sacrificing their whole family. What Lin did do was a courtesy call to inform them ahead of time, but given the character of Shen dad and grandpa, even if they got the news they would've still did what they did.
I am all for going beyond the regular trope or cliches in this drama, but I can't help but look forward to tmr, where ml forces fl to marry him with the royal decree. I need more of fl/ml scenes together. It's a rude awakening for fl, he should've confessed first instead of her finding out from an eunuch reading a paper outloud. But I get why he did it. He lost her, twice! Once when she was kidnapped and second time when he found out Han scholar was going to propose to her. He got desperate and this was the only way. It's a smart way bc with her previous maid status, it's impossibly low for her to marry to him as main wife. So with royal decree, no one can object and ridicule this match made in heaven. Lin family can only accept and can't even divorce her bc it's a royal decree. I mean gotta applaud ml for being so sly and smart. I also miss fl with the maids so I'm looking forward to seeing them interact.
Ep 24th is another ep I admire. Furong and 2ml appearing coincidentally to help, but it all made sense. I love smart people. two groups split to search for her in two different cities. When ljq came to the rescue she thought he would notice her but he didn't even recognize her. It makes total sense though bc she was just a maid, and one that left 2 years ago.
It's like a full circle, fl and her family suicided to escape being in the state brothel and she ends up there. I teared when Jier was stuck there for 2 years, and when she tried to make light of it that she's not a virgin anymore so it doesn't matter. I know fl will save her but just thinking she has to stay there for even a day longer hurts.
