What I like about this drama is how opposite and unconventional the leads are. Instead of the typical Rich CEO ml we have the insecure ml who sometimes feel self deprecating bc of his lack of financial security. He finds himself inferior to fl sometimes. He's the smartest guy in all his academic career so everyone assumes he makes a lot of money. But it's the opposite. And the dilemma of choosing between a profitable career or chasing your own dreams. That's what i liked about this drama. Most usually make fl the damsel in distress that always needs ml to the rescue. This one isnt so.

it reached over 400mill views within 4 days of airing in China, and it's been no. 1 since it aired. Beating all dramas that are currently airing so far. I would say it's a pretty good drama considering I typically drop 9.5/10 dramas. I didn't like Luoyang much, I find it boring, but that's me since solving crime period dramas aren't my thing, except UTP-that was an exception since the cp was phenomenal.

His death was pivitole for ml to finally learn martial arts. So his death was worth it and I do believe it's true. The actor that played Lao Huang posted a farewell post to his character on wb. So I think that settles it.

YAMG is good. I was skepticle at first cuz it's a raba drama and I haven't watched yy's drama in a few years. I thought it's just hype bc of the two super popular celebs. But, it's pretty good. It's a mature romance, a step up from idol romance. I like the reverse, where it's the "imperfect" ml and glamourous fl. This role is perfect for raba since she's basically just acting herself.

Awww, it's a real a pity. She's slowly growing on me. I do see that her acting isn't on par with the others. Some scenes I find awkward, but I brush it over bc she's irrelavent so far. I'm more interested in ml and the martial artists around him and the whole plot in general. She's a small potatoe, so I implore you not to give up. There's so many previous actors form JOL that will appear so I'm excited for that.

I knew Lao Huang would die, it was an inevitable thing when he decided to finish his battle with his component. I had a foreboding feeling when he decided to leave. But to know it's true still breaks my heart. I really enjoyed his character and he left too soon.

Definitely! But that comes with burden, especially when he's all brawns with no brain.

not everyone. Well, it's more about the resources. A company is willing to pay a substantial amount of money to have their artist to be in a particular drama bc of mega celeb A. Therefore, production team or w.e team will look at that monetary amount or w.e resources the company is willing to provide and choose that artist over another, whether the artist they chose is fit for the character or not. Money talks, not the acting skills sometimes. There's a few independent artists that have no company backings or rich resources. They fight their way step by step which may take years.

We are veering of the main point, which is she most likely got on to this drama with backup resources. Either she got connections or her company paid enough money for her to be in this drama. That's it.

I don't think she's ugly, just not a memorable face, like a plane Jane. She's still young, so she has time to improve her acting and some girls, as they age, their face becomes a bit more distinctive, and not by surgery. I'm sure if she had a better makeup artist she'll look more different.

Yes! It's so interesting that the one behind all his shenanigans is the father. All this to give more "hands on experience" for xfn. His youngest son is too naive and childlike, can never be a good fit to rule. Although he is cute and I like the bromance. I love dramas like this, all these revelations and big players behind the chess pieces. It's so exciting.

I think the further you watch you will understand why ml isn't as respectful to his dad. His dad is pretty calculative and manipulative towards everyone, even his own sons. He will do anything to protect Xu family and military power, that includes assassinating ml. Whether this is just another hands on experience his father likes to do to teach ml or not, it's a bit too much. Bc of this, ml is irritated and annoyed so yeah he doesn't respect his father in the traditional sense, and his father does give him a lot of leeway, but that's bc his father constantly endangers his son, and by his own intentions too. This is an interesting father-son duo/dynamic, and I'm here for it!

Just like in JOL, Liqin played a significantly small fl role, hence she's not going to be in S2 (that's what I heard). I'm on ep 5, and from the little behaviour from xfn, it seems like she'll be (one of) his romantic partner. At least, he seems to care for her, though it could be bc of her true identity that influenced his behaviour.

Yes, big actresses that made it won't play these roles but there are still many many actresses that have a lot of works under their belt, but still stuck in the "2nd fiddle roles" such as Xuan Lu, as mentioned by hikikomori. Like Liqin, she has been in the industry for years and she does have some memorable scenes, yet she still took a small fl role, granted she may not have been as popular during when she filmed JOL, but she is still so much more qualified than Teresa. So why didn't production of SSS find another actress, stuck in the "2nd fiddle roles" with more qualifications than Teresa? I still stick to my case that there's backings/ back door. But, since this fl is a small potatoe in this drama, I don't really care.

I hope Lao Huang doesn't die. He's so precious and witty and funny. Most importantly he means lot of xfn. I like the fatherly son/friendship they have between them.

I am impressed at how smart and insightful xfn is, but wow, his dad is the master mind. I am speechless by his father. The older you are the more wiser, that is a saying that speaks soundly in this drama.

EP 5. This martial artist that's practically living under the river...I thought it would be a big fish that would eat the Lin scholar but it's the martial artist. I like these constant reveals of these high martial artists in Xu Manor. Like what kind of other secrets and wonders are living there

Ep 4, this Lin boy, the scholar, is pathetic. He's all righteous and full of b.s., tries to assasinate XFN. He has no might or brains to do it. Leaving the dirty work to the poor foolish love sick girl. He isn't righteous at all manipulating the girl bc he knows she likes him, using her to assassinate xfn on his behalf and then when things goes wrong he begs for his life.

Not just the way she looks but also her young age and the type of dramas she has filmed. She's still a newbie, not very experienced and not many notable works under her name. She's basically a baby in the industry compared to other actresses, and im not talking about the A-list ones. So yes, if She's from a company then she prob had backing from her company to get this role. It's a common thing now, especially if the drama is a big ml small fl type. Not many more established or popular actresses are willing to tske on small fl roles now.

The fight scenes are weird. There's no intricate choreography of the dighting scenes that were once there in JOL. The white clothed fox lady's fighting scened are a bit abdsurd for me. The directing and the style of it is not what's expected in a S+ production. It's almost a comedic animation where the swordsman zooms past the group of hooligans in a blink of an eye, not knowing what happened inbetween that caused the hooligans to fall on the ground in pain. I hope the fighting scenes will improve more later on. O have high hopes since there's still many more fighting scenes to come
