I became a fan after seeing him in the General & I.
I fell in love with General and I's novel. But the drama was a let down. They completely changed the fl. fl is supposed to be very very avg looking but intelligent (that's the important aspect of the drama that she's avg but bc of her demeanor and her intelligence a lot of males start to respect her). Baby was a wrong choice and her acting I could never watch. So I dropped the drama since I felt 0 chemistry between them. But, some people liked it, mostly intl fans.
Do you know how many episodes will be out each day and for how many days?
on wetv, according to the schedule posted, non members finish April 13, reg members April 6 and VIP by Mar 29. After Feb, it's only airing 2 eps, 3 days a week from Mon to Wed.
The scheming from the beginning is a bit much for the plot but it's been interesting. Wallace is so awesome. So…
I thoroughly enjoyed the main wife scheming the girl to be a concubine. It was very clever of her since it seemed the Qiao girl was going to marry in anyways. But the status change was amusing.
At first i also feel sad for her, but after watched 10 episodes. I don't feeling that anymore, LOL. Her acting…
I found it funny and also ridiculous that she thought a piece of pretty embroidery will win a man's heart. How materialistic and foolish is she. I can't wait for ep 11-12. It's finally in ep 15 that the ml is starting to see the fl with a change of heart.
I kind of pity concubine Qiao, I mean she is definitely a scheming character who will do a lot of bad things.…
She initially wanted to marry him, once his first main wife dies, to be his new main wife. As well as giving birth to a biological heir. Hence the current heir will be in an awkward and sad state. She was going to be a mean and horrible step mother. Her motive was already selfish, it's just that she was schemed to be a concubine instead of main wife.
Dear Lord how many women is he going to have!! Is this really a love story with so many women involved???
No, he doesn't love any of the women. It's more like they are forced upon to him. He fell in love with the fl later on. Dw, the concubines will either die or leave the household later on. The is the more realistic household life of males with statuses and titles back then. You just have to get used to it.
I see that a lot of people have problems with the ml having multiple wives. But, remember that these are fictional characters (based on a novel) in real human history. This is a more realistic approach to a higher status male's household. Which I like, bc it's different from all these idol period dramas where the young master falls in love with the maid and marries her as main wife and live happily ever after bla bla bla. Those plots have no substances and are typically played by actors/actresses that are either unknown or still very new to the entertainment industry. It's a chance for them to gain experience and get their face out there. Those type of idol period dramas hardly ever lets known which period/era it is bc they don't follow proper etiquette or history. As you guys watch further on, the ml doesn't love any of his concubines and he hardly sleeps at their room. One was given to him by his mother, another was to thank the Wen family for helping his family when in need, thus marrying their daughter, and the latest concubine was schemed by his wife. In the end, the real one he loves is fl. This is a story about love AFTER marriage. Which is common since most marriages were arranged and the couples never get to interact with each other much until marriage. I actually like that he has concubines bc now I can compare how he interacts with them to the fl, how he will later favour her more than his other wives.
In my opinion this is refreshing, interesting and more realistic than other historical c-dramas. The higher status…
Yes!! That's also one of the many reason why I like this drama. I like seeing the inner household problems, which includes multiple concubines scheming and their daily lives. It's normal for a higher status or wealthy man, back then, to have multiple wives. My great grandfather had multiple wives.
Same it's just too disgusting some thing should just be left there its better to make a historical with modern…
Thank you! "fictional characters going through things in fictional world during a period of human history"- I totally agree. This person is so fixated with this age thing when it's the norm in real history. She probably only watches kdrama since kdrama is all idol romcom or comedy.
Same it's just too disgusting some thing should just be left there its better to make a historical with modern…
You seriously have a problem. You are mixing the actor's real age with the fl's character's age. The male character is around 26, in the FICTIONAL NOVEL, he is about 12years older than her. Do you not get the plot of the drama. He didn't want to marry her he also knows she's too young as she just had her coming of age. The whole scenario was his main wife wanting one of her sisters to marry her husband to secure her son as heir to the family. If this tiny age thing is an issue then you really can't ever watch proper Chinese period dramas, since ALL FEMALES were to marry around 15-17. Any older (18+) unmarried were considered spinsters back then. Take your 21st century values away from proper period dramas. This isn't pedophilia, nor do I support them. This was the way society worked back in China, anyone that knows Chinese history or even watched a proper Chinese period drama would know this is the norm and no one makes a fuss or care about the age. In the drama or novel, he isn't a pedophile cuz there's no such concept back then, and as an actor he definitely isn't one, since the actress is 30. For god's sake, don't watch any more period dramas, stick to kid shows since I'm sure they are all age appropriate.
I get you, but this is a period drama. That's how they were taught and that's how society operated. They even…
Aaah, ok. The script writer is from Princess Weiyoung. That's already a precaution there. I just hope it gets better. As for the drama being subliminal message for women to marry....I think you are thinking too much into this. I'm sure many 21st educated Chinese women have their own values and mindsets. They won't be deterred just from a drama or accumulated dramas of similar concepts. They know it's a period drama and can differentiate the values of then vs now.
https://dramasq.xyz/cn210226/7.html#4 link to ep 7. but Idk if the link works for you. It's not subbed. Will never be subbed since it's a chinese website. You can watch on wetv, they have first two eps subbed
Same it's just too disgusting some thing should just be left there its better to make a historical with modern…
Historical with modern values...that's only possible if the fl or ml time travelled and it's a sitcom. A proper period drama would never have that or else it would be bashed by Chinese viewers.
