better skip it for now as of now female lead is outwitted by dumb concubines
How is she outwitted? She doesn't care much since she doesn't love the ml yet. She's basically nonchalant about it. She's only focused on finding the murderer and then skipping out of the household to freedom. She knows the Qiao concubine is scheming everything, but she's enduring it bc the less duties she has the more free time she can use to find the culprit. She also hinted to Qiao concubine by using the flower metaphor. I thought that was very elegantly done to let Qiao concubine know that they have different interests and won't ever cross paths so no need to fight one another. She also hinted to the ml about Qiao concubine and the guards indirectly. In this culture, they don't do things directly, they hint or go around it. It's to save face and to save themselves from problems as they never directly said or did anything so can't point fingers back. I love those psychological wars.
It feels like a palace drama where the below average concubines are playing stupid tricks and finally getting…
The thing is, she doesn't care much bc she just wants to find the culprit to her mom's murderer. Once she finds the person and gets justice she plans to leave the household. She prefers to travel and see the world. Hence, why she doesn't care as much with others bullying her as long as it doesn't harm her, to a degree, or hinder her from finding clues. But ofc, she'll fall in love with the ml eventually. In the novel, the fl is a 21st century divorce lawyer that time travelled so her character is more solemn, logical and quite, but kind as well.
Now i know why people are complaining. This is one of the most boring drama,i don't know how to explain. The ML…
This must be your first proper Chinese period drama that follows realistic and proper values and customs within a society. You obviously don't understand filial piety back in the days. If you are unfilial, it can ruin your reputation and reputation was THE thing back then. if the king endorsed filial and you do the opposite, you either lose your official position or go to jail. In this drama, ml is very filial towards his mother. Having concubines was as normal as breathing air, for a lack of a better comparison. Also, no, he will not have anymore concubines, that's it. If you actually paid attention or watched further, you will understand two of the concubines weren't his choice, actually none was. If you don't like it, there are plenty of romcom period dramas where ml is faithful to one fl, the typical non realistic dramas with no substances.
Why are people complaining about how many wives he has? This is a historic drama, in history this drama would…
Agreed! But, one tid bit, it is same era as Minglan. Both set in Ming Dynasty. Which means it's also set same era as Under the power!! Linxi (ml) talks about pirates, and his supervisor or w.e is GeLao aka the antagonist in Under the power.
So I started this drama after rebel princess, I am annoyed. I am reminded why I love rebel princess. This drama…
Can't compare to Rebel Princess. I've only watched like an ep of it but I know the production is a whole different level. There's a lot of veteran actors in it and the fl is known as acting Queen. She has been in a few Hollywood movies like Geisha, and she only films movies. Hence why the cinematography might look similar to movies instead of dramas. As well, the production, like everything was top notch. I believe it included some foreign film industry too. I forget.
That aside, I still prefer Seven's drama. Just bc Seven is my current fave Chinese actress and I love her natural acting and her chemistry with any costar. There's some characters which I thought was poorly scripted such as fl's 2nd sister, stepmom, Qiao concubine. They are all antagonists but it could've been written or acted in a more sophisticated way. But, aside from that I am enjoying it so far. I love the slow burn.
The Romance in this drama are super subtle...but it probably just me, i feel their overflowing chemistry from…
It's a slow burn. Slow burn are tricky since it can be too slow and become boring. But I LOVE Seven's slow burns such as Under the Power. Her chemistry is insane. She's actually infamous for having chemistry with anyone, male or female, in dramas or varieties. Her fans and even non fans acknowledged it. This drama is about love after marriage, so it definitely makes sense to fall in love slowly during marriage since they don't know each other well enough.
Ladies and gents Seven's Studio just released her March schedule and she's going to film a new drama mid March. I'm guessing it could be Master of My Own bc that's the drama listed to film in March. But I could be wrong.
I became a fan after seeing him in the General & I.
I fell in love with General and I's novel. But the drama was a let down. They completely changed the fl. fl is supposed to be very very avg looking but intelligent (that's the important aspect of the drama that she's avg but bc of her demeanor and her intelligence a lot of males start to respect her). Baby was a wrong choice and her acting I could never watch. So I dropped the drama since I felt 0 chemistry between them. But, some people liked it, mostly intl fans.
Do you know how many episodes will be out each day and for how many days?
on wetv, according to the schedule posted, non members finish April 13, reg members April 6 and VIP by Mar 29. After Feb, it's only airing 2 eps, 3 days a week from Mon to Wed.
The scheming from the beginning is a bit much for the plot but it's been interesting. Wallace is so awesome. So…
I thoroughly enjoyed the main wife scheming the girl to be a concubine. It was very clever of her since it seemed the Qiao girl was going to marry in anyways. But the status change was amusing.
At first i also feel sad for her, but after watched 10 episodes. I don't feeling that anymore, LOL. Her acting…
I found it funny and also ridiculous that she thought a piece of pretty embroidery will win a man's heart. How materialistic and foolish is she. I can't wait for ep 11-12. It's finally in ep 15 that the ml is starting to see the fl with a change of heart.
I kind of pity concubine Qiao, I mean she is definitely a scheming character who will do a lot of bad things.…
She initially wanted to marry him, once his first main wife dies, to be his new main wife. As well as giving birth to a biological heir. Hence the current heir will be in an awkward and sad state. She was going to be a mean and horrible step mother. Her motive was already selfish, it's just that she was schemed to be a concubine instead of main wife.
Dear Lord how many women is he going to have!! Is this really a love story with so many women involved???
No, he doesn't love any of the women. It's more like they are forced upon to him. He fell in love with the fl later on. Dw, the concubines will either die or leave the household later on. The is the more realistic household life of males with statuses and titles back then. You just have to get used to it.
I see that a lot of people have problems with the ml having multiple wives. But, remember that these are fictional characters (based on a novel) in real human history. This is a more realistic approach to a higher status male's household. Which I like, bc it's different from all these idol period dramas where the young master falls in love with the maid and marries her as main wife and live happily ever after bla bla bla. Those plots have no substances and are typically played by actors/actresses that are either unknown or still very new to the entertainment industry. It's a chance for them to gain experience and get their face out there. Those type of idol period dramas hardly ever lets known which period/era it is bc they don't follow proper etiquette or history. As you guys watch further on, the ml doesn't love any of his concubines and he hardly sleeps at their room. One was given to him by his mother, another was to thank the Wen family for helping his family when in need, thus marrying their daughter, and the latest concubine was schemed by his wife. In the end, the real one he loves is fl. This is a story about love AFTER marriage. Which is common since most marriages were arranged and the couples never get to interact with each other much until marriage. I actually like that he has concubines bc now I can compare how he interacts with them to the fl, how he will later favour her more than his other wives.
In my opinion this is refreshing, interesting and more realistic than other historical c-dramas. The higher status…
Yes!! That's also one of the many reason why I like this drama. I like seeing the inner household problems, which includes multiple concubines scheming and their daily lives. It's normal for a higher status or wealthy man, back then, to have multiple wives. My great grandfather had multiple wives.
That aside, I still prefer Seven's drama. Just bc Seven is my current fave Chinese actress and I love her natural acting and her chemistry with any costar. There's some characters which I thought was poorly scripted such as fl's 2nd sister, stepmom, Qiao concubine.
