> lets not sit and act like this kdrama is bad. lolllllllllllShould I break it down how presumptuous that sentence…
Wrong.
Call me back when you've seen as many dramas as I have. You have a habit of phrasing your opinions as indisputable fact. For example when you said "lets not sit and act like this k-drama is bad". Since I have said I think it's bad, you are accusing me of "acting". What that means is you are accusing everyone in here who left a negative review of lying.
How egotistical and deluded does one have to be, to think that everyone with a different opinion than you is simply a liar who actually deep down agrees with you. The hubris is staggering.
And don't even get me started on the condescending arrogance of starting a sentence like that with "Let's".
I suppose for someone like this, it would be natural to assume if someone counters your agrument, that it must be because they simply don't understand your opinion.
How's the end.. Ml fl still together? BTW The fl is like another version of komatsu Nana
mmmm It's been a while but I am pretty sure this one was an HE for the ML+FL, or else I would have mentioned it or bitched about it. Although I honestly can't remember. And this was only 6 months ago!
It's crazy how I can barely remember anything I watched before SoKP... but anyways, I rated it a 7... probably because there was barely any meat on the plot is what I'm guessing. For me a 7 is what I'd call "decent".
I think he's one of the few actors that looks best when on costume drama and with long hair.
I was raised on heavy metal, so I think almost all of them look better with long hair. But LH especially. He was so fire as Xie Wei, I still can't get over it. Gottdang he's such a good actor when he's playing a dark, passionate ML... nobody does it better.
I wish someone would cast him as a spicy and obsessed hot vampire/demon ML.
You are not the only one. Don’t see his appeal, but hey, we like what we like
The first time I saw him, I was like "wtf is that?!" I thought he looked like a plastic person. I thought it was strange and mildly disturbing. Then I saw him in a few more things, and I found myself transfixed by his weird look. Sometimes I think he's so hot I could scream, and other times I think "omg he looks like an alien" and am creeped out.
I think if he was in a fluff romance, I would skip it. But if he grows into a better actor with experience, and he gets a dark ML role with some quality kiss scenes and a decent script, I would watch it.
I highly recommend seeking medical treatment for your visual impairment. Further, past his god given features…
Wee-woo wee-wooo... here comes the opinion police!
Thank god you've arrived, nobody should get away with voicing their own thoughts on a public forum! But thankfully you saved the day with your self-righteous sermonizing to put everybody back on the right track. Whew!
The ML character was really awesome, at least for me who likes obsessive/red-flag/dark ML's. However... they could have gone darker with his character and it would only have been better for it.
The FL did a really great job of portraying two distinct people. However, as the FL I found her to be slightly off-key. It was nothing major, I just thought she was overacting a bit and her bubbliness sometimes seemed really forced/fake.
The bgm and ost were okay, but they occasionally changed the tone of a scene in a way that detracted from the acting or killed the mood by being out of sync with the actors and what was going on.
However by far the biggest fault of this drama was the sanitization of the romance. There are two or three kisses total, each of those kisses is deer-in-the-headlights, where one of them is trying to kiss the other, and the other remains motionless and frozen in place. Not only that, but the FL lives with the ML while they fall in love and date, and she has her own room.... so you'd think some kind of spicy situations would naturally ensue, but they don't. This romance is so tame, it's safe for an eight year old to watch. So tame that it's perplexing and strange.
A great idea for a story, a great ML, decent dialogue and supporting cast.... and yet so much wasted potential from a romantic angle. I give it a 7.
I want to applaud Bai Lu. I had never been a fan prior to this drama but after watching countless dramas with…
I've always thought Bau Lu was hit-or-miss, but she won me over completely with SoKP. It was the best performance I've ever seen her give, and it made me realize that sometimes when I've seen Bai Lu and not liked it so much, it was producers/directors/stylists not bringing out her best.
There are several actors in here that I think this was their best performance I've ever seen. I bet actors are falling all over themselves to work with this producer, because he makes everybody look so good.
I gave it a 7.5 and I thought it was a little bit crappy. Yes yes the music is nice, the costumes are nice, the casting is nice, etc etc, and if it were just about that, I'd give it maybe an 8.5.....
However, I am a hopeless romantic. This is a story about an FL who doesn't have one true love. She has a guy she likes, but not enough to fight for. She has another guy that she settles for, when clearly in an ideal world she wouldn't have chosen him first.
I don't mind reverse harems when done well, but this one has a very cheesy feel to it.... all the men drool over her like she's the chinese messiah, and all the women (except for her!) are petty, jealous, stupid and -by the end- fawning all over her with "I was wrong and you were right".
There is a megaton of chemistry between the Lord ML and the FL, all they have to do is be less than 12 inches away from eachother and you can feel it radiating off them like a nuclear reactor on fire. But this chemistry is only seen in brief flashes, less than a handful of magical moments.... and not only does she not end up with him, but the entire story has ZERO kiss scenes. What a criminal waste of potential.
Thus the lowering of my score despite many aspects of the drama that were more than decent.
The OST is one of the most evocative I have heard.
Im on ep 20, and that's one of the things that I really liked about this one, not necessarily the ost (which is fine too), but the BGM is distinctly non-repetitive, and kind of unpredictable and novel. It adds to the scenes in interesting ways, and stays fresh.
they all drop over time. Even hidden love went from a 9.2 to a 9
I think the reason it happens is because people start raving about the drama and rating it high, and this in turn causes people who wouldn't even like it to begin with to think "hey, maybe I would like it because the rating is so high". But they can't appreciate it so watch it or start to watch it, it turns them off for totally predictable reasons, and they rate it low.
Like take hidden love.... there's so many comments in there like "this drama was so gross, she's like a child when they meet, he's basically a groomer omg! I gave it a 1/10, how disgusting!" ........... when it says right in the synopsis that he's her older brother's BFF and it's her childhood crush. It's like, you knew you wouldn't like it, and you watched it anyways.
Or here with SoKP, all the comments like "omg XW is so toxic.... omg the romance doesn't even start till basically the end" and it's like yea, we have been in the comments warning y'all about this exact shit, but did you listen, no you didnt. Since it was rated high, you tried to watch it anyways, and guess what. An 8.8 with a toxic ML.... IS STILL A TOXIC ML.
This is true for just about every drama I know of.
The ML and FL are great, although I really disliked the dubbing, it gave the drama a cheap crappy feel. The story itself is so creative, it could have been made into a full-length drama. Not great, not bad. 7/10
another question. I'm still on ep20 so pls not too much spoiler if possible. It seems YL rap*d her? The writing…
good questions. Hmm... I got the impression she led YanLin on most cruelly for her own ends, which was why she never blamed him for what he did in the first lifetime. I think she's more scared of Xie Wei because when he caused her demise in the first lifetime, she never saw it coming, he blindsided her... and on top of that, he hated her in a way that was really cold and impersonal. She offered herself to him, and he didn't want her, he rejected her. So in her second lifetime, she was convinced that he hated her, and that made him more of a fear than Yan Lin, who she knew very very well, and understood his motivations. She knew with Yan Lin that if she wasn't evil to him, he wouldn't be evil to her. But she has no idea who Xie Wei is, where he's coming from, or why he stares at her so hard its like he's trying to bore a hole straight through her. When he falls in love with her, she cannot believe it for what it is, because in the first lifetime, he never loved her, or showed any interest in her as a woman even when she threw herself at him, and in fact hated her pretty hard. Why would he suddenly act like he cared about her? That probably really bothers her, and as she devlops feelings for him, her OWN feelings scare her. She has an idea of how the second lifetime is supposed to go, and Xie Wei's new behavior towards her doesn't fall into that vision. She has no idea what to make of him, but she expects history to repeat itself and for him to end up causing her death again.

lolllllllllll
Should I break it down how presumptuous that sentence is, or does the vapidity speak for itself.
No, helena. Bad dramas are not my cup of tea. smh
There are several actors in here that I think this was their best performance I've ever seen. I bet actors are falling all over themselves to work with this producer, because he makes everybody look so good.
waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh this ML got me all !!!

1) I am ONLY interested in kilig/spice/fire/angst/passion in my dramas. That being the case, will I like this one or no?
2) Can someone describe the kind of ML Ling He is playing here? What is the character's personality like?
