It seems so,
turning the girl into a pathetic idiot seems to sell in Cdramas.
What's ironic is that these same women are projected as strong women but they come across as anything but that.
The number of Cdramas where the FL is made into a retarded monkey by the 2ML is countless.

When you watch historical/wuxia Cdramas that blow your mind in a good way & then you watch romance Cdramas that blow your mind in the worst possible way - it's insane.

ML acting is a bit stiff
but the drastically changed story line, characters and Cdrama Chiches are the main put offs.

By episode 4, it resembled exactly like 10 other Cdramas I watched in last few months with Cinderella - CEO story, including the scenes where a grown woman is crying in front of a not close man about her crush not into her.
Never met a grown man or woman who cry about their love failures in front of strangers, ffs even teenagers would be aghast at crying about their crushes not materializing in front of others.

Not to mention the absolute lack of chemistry. One really need to place their brain in a freezer to watch these grown up ML and FL behave like pre-teens

In the webtoon, the ML is sweet to the FL through out.
Only that the FL misunderstands his sweetness as him taking revenge on her by making her fall in love with him.

In the drama though ML is a pompous bully and the FL is pathetic.

Agree on ML and FL in Crazy Love being crazy in a good way.

They managed to take a wonderful webtoon with adorable characters and turned into an abomination.
Except for the names of the characters, the drama has no resemblance to the toon.

It's probably targeted to early teens who think those pathetic cliches in the drama are great.
had to literally control my disgust at some of the things shown in that drama.

Business Proposal is a poor Cdrama knock off of Cinderella - CEO story with one dimensional characters and cringy cliches.

This one is way better.

Absolute blast of a drama.

Lot of fun and very interesting characters.

Crying in front of ML is not the problem. In fact she does cry in front the ML when he truly becomes some one she loves and becomes dear to her.
In fact crying in front of your near and dear ones is not a weakness, as you said, it is a strength.

The reason for crying and who you are crying in front of is also important.

Would any girl like if their husband/boyfriend start crying about his failed relations and how much he loved other girls?
Or imagine if a girls colleague who is not particular close to her starts crying about how much he loves a girl and goes on about it..

That is not a strength.

Coming to the parents & her crush it is a red flag, a huge one, may be it's a thing in asian culture where the girl is confirmed a particular image but it is extremely patronizing.
Problem with that scene is that by this time the FL is well and truly into the ML and the crush is starting to look like a douche.

The character growth for FL comes from the fact that she sees a bit of herself in the cowardice of her previous crush and decides to be brave about her feelings for the ML.

Character growth seems to have taken to a backseat to pandering to certain sections of viewers who like Cdramas with incredibly pathetic FL's.

There you have it.

On it's own, the drama is any other Cinderella CEO romance drama with certain Ripleys believe it or not scenes in it.

BUT this drama has a source material, has been sold to viewers as such as well. Adding and removing scenes is all acceptable as long as the core theme of the source material is adhered to. Clearly the drama makers pissed on the source material.

Was watching 'twenty five twenty one', easily the best Kdrama of the year. There is a scene where the FL is listening to tape of ML confessing to another girl. the ML is mortified seeing FL listening to it. By this time the FL is pretty much his bestie and they have been the go to people for each other to share their happiness and sadness. Yet, the guy was mortified. That's pretty much how humans are.
romantic feelings are pretty much intimate. They are not easily shared with 3rd parties. Cdramas have the FL sharing these feelings, wailing and crying about them to the nearest man who happens to be the handsome CEO. Even imagining the incredible cringy patheticness of this unrealistic scene is beyond me. Hence my shock at seeing something like that in a Kdramas which usually have strong FL.

The parents casually throwing the FL on the floor and wiping it with her was another one. It was as if the parents are like, as a man you should do our daughter a favor and marry her. We know she likes you, we also know you don't like her but we beg you, please please be our SIL. However casual, thats basically how it came across.

There are a dozen Cdramas in the last few months that have similar story line to this one, have the same type of ML and FL, same crying scenes, same cringy parents making the FL look like an idiot.
The only saving grace for Cdramas is that the leads tend to have great chemistry.

This one right now is a basically a Cdrama minus the chemistry.

Where as the original webtoon was fantastic love story with awesome chemistry, in drama I don't feel it.....yet.

Instead of asking me to drop it, go and read the webtoon and then you will probably understand what 'explosive chemistry' is.
They screwed the FL character, even 10 year old have more chemistry in their love story than this one and those cringy stupid unrealistic scenes are hard to get over.

Unfortunately this drama does not have even 10% of the chemistry the webtoon has.

FL confession to ML who she was clearly one of the best in the toon. She by then had already started to fall for the ML and that reflects that. In the drama it was a 'meh' moment.

This drama's major turnoff's is how pathetic FL has turned it.
First it was the crying about her crush in front of ML
Now her parents just wiping her on the floor in front her crush.

The ML is coming back to being Taemu.

No matter what they say, this drama went down for me the moment the idiots made her cry in front of the ML over her crush. This turned into one of those idiotic Cdramas.

usually Kdramas are much better in building their characters.
Here, they took absolutely adorable FL in the webtoon and turned her into pathetic Cdrama idiotic FL whose character cannot exist without certain affirmation from the ML.
And the chemistry is almost non-existent compared to the webtoon.

There are just 4 episodes left & the ML is still indecisive even after learning the truth.
Why would anyone trust this guy to be with them in tough times when the first instinct this guy has is to bail out.

Utterly disappointing character growth for ML.
FL deserves much better.

Got to say that this show is fast becoming my fav show this year.

There are many adorable characters in the show.
The scene where the office colleague enters the basement and sees the guys working hard to bring the AC back up - then proceeds to bring them some cold drinks. These little bits showing how the characters are some of the gems of this show.
The lady who supports her husband to take a break for studies and her whole positive attitude about the whole thing.
the boss who seems to be supportive of his staff.
The misunderstood senior who does not fit in with his family

The show is giving all these support characters great story lines and scenes.

A spoiler,

In the webtoon, she does cry in front of the ML and the author nailed it.
It's when the FL has completely fallen in love with the ML, she is thinking he hates her, she is fearful for herself & future and yet cannot stop being in love with the ML.
At that moment, in her mind she has completely fallen in love with the guy who is out to destroy her - her tears makes sense.

When you see how beautifully the author goes about it for the FL when she was feeling sad in front of ML & then you see this crap in the drama, you will understand why this was so out of place.

YG does not deserve DD remotely.

For most of the drama the poor girl has been fighting a solo battle to save her love.
YG is a yellow bellied coward and an moron to boot.

Definitely not what the writers intended for YG but that's how pathetic he comes across at this moment.

Sorry but the ML in toon and drama at this point, does not make the FL feel safe.
That's basically one of the biggest plot drivers for half the drama. She constantly feels fearful, insecure and add her growing feeling for the guy, she is a mess.

At this moment, the FL does not want anything to do with ML. He literally is the cause of her nightmares. Her life is at stake and the last thing she would feel with the ML is 'safe'. This is shown in the webtoon.
Keep watching and you will see trust being an issue for the FL as well, unless they change that as well in the drama.

These crying scenes are so out of place with reality and character growth that one needs to scratch their heads to understand their intent or purpose.

This is the problem with this drama. She is hiding her identity, she wants to have as minimal interactions with him as possible, she is basically trying to end her fake relationship with him and then we see this.

While reading the toon, you could see the authors love for all 4 main leads. there was care given to each of them and their growth. Their individual journeys of falling in love was endearing and logical. The fears and consequently the actions made sense in the toon. The drama basically crapped on it in the 3rd episode.

Men and Women both cry over their love failures - in front of their nearest and dearest ones and even amongst the nearest and dearest, rarely in front of opposite sex.

That's not what's happening in Asian dramaland.
in Asian dramaland. women cry about their love failures in front of men whom they barely know.
That's really pathetic, unless the guy is an undercover therapist.

Like you said, it's probably a cultural thing and in Asia heart-broken women do share their sadness in front of men they barely know.
Been in few countries all over the world and both men and women would be very embarrassed at letting others (not so near/dear ones) know their love failures and sobbing about it.

We are digressing and it's probably a personal choice. Some people may like these kinds of sobbing scenes but it makes me cringe because it's a pathetic cliche trope being shown in every other Asian drama.

What has her crying in front of ML got to do with anything you said?

I have seen dozens of Cdramas with the FL crying over men in front of the ML. It just feels so unrealistic and out of place, especially when in none of these dramas the men never do the same.

Forget weak, any drama where the FL is weeping over men in front of other men makes her pathetic, especially since the men are never shown doing it. Are asian men mentally strong than their women?!!

May be it's a cultural thing and I am not getting it.
In Asia is it common for women who have love failures to cry in front of other men describing their lost love in detail?
Is it only women who cry over failed love OR do men also weep in front of random women about the crushes that did not choose them?

The webtoon does jealous ML and it does it pretty spectacularly.

Then there was really no point of the FL weeping so much about it while ML is being a witness to it.
Whenever I watch this trope in asian drama now a days, it just makes me think of the FL as pathetic and it's so bad cringy. Wait, it is super bad stupid cringy.

The webtoon addresses this perfectly.
The drama messed it up.

The whole concept of rebound is exactly what we are seeing in the drama.
That's why it's called a rebound & no matter how anyone tries to sugar quote it, in the drama the ML is the rebound option for the FL.
If it was a long drama, which happens over a significant period of time, I can completely understand your view.
This drama though is short, the time period is short.
So, the whole scene of her crying in front of ML and deciding to give up, makes the ML the rebound option.

She may still fall in love the ML but the whole 'what if' the crush was available, would she chose the ML will always remain.

It's not a bad story line perse. Felt it was an unnecessary one since the toon does address this in much better way.

That's why I said if it was not based on the webtoon, it would have been a pretty good drama.

The webtoon does the part of her falling in love with ML and out of love with her crush very well. It does not happen over-night. It happens over a period and she falls for him.
In the toon, the FL had the option and she chose the ML over her crush of years.

In the drama, we would never know if presented with the same option who she would choose. The whole end the last relationship and start a new one', while being realistic does not fit into the realm of established parameters of these kinds of drama. Let's remind ourselves the ML is a 30 year old man who has never had a crush in his life, not really realistic nowadays or any days.

The whole FL crying over another man in front of ML is disgustingly pathetic cliche in my opinion. It makes the FL look pathetic.
Reason for that simple. you never see the ML crying over other girls in front of the FL and FL comforting him in any Asian drama.
It almost never happens in real life but in Asian dramas this trope of FL crying over another man happens in every other drama While the opposite never happens.
Ever seen an Asian drama where the ML is weeping in front of the FL over other girls?!!

the whole ending her crush once she had a talk with ML is silly.
She could have ended it any time in the 7 years she crushed on him. He was with the other girl, was into the other girl and it's not like FL did not know. for 7 years she has seen him with other girls and only decided to end it after crying about it in front of ML. It makes no logical sense.
And you can't end your crushes just because you decided to end it. Crushes don't work that way - ever.

The webtoon addresses this very well. She does not get over her crush. She just falls deeply in love with the ML and he becomes the only option for her.
Just like how ML in toon did not want to marry anyone but only wanted to marry her.

On it's own the drama would have been a good one
BUT this absolutely pales in comparison to the webtoon and some of the changes are bad cliche.

ML and FL do have good chemistry but read the webtoon to understand what kind of chemistry they had in that.

Still 9 more episodes to go. Hopefully the bad cliches end and they get back to the original wonderful material.
