The Tiger Tally returns with commander's corpse. A father didn't heed his son's warnings and now we wait to see who caused his demise. Meanwhile, Wan in busy steaming bones to continue to explore the mysteries surrounding Prince Jin and her father's demise. The episode started with the happy announcement of many nuptials to come and ended with the court in the grip of suspicion.

Prince Cheng tries to dress up rape with candles and flowers but ends up being the Pin-Up. Chi lets fly grim intent. This time there was no corpse to ruin their first kiss. This must have distracted her for curing the blind prince. She better get to it or Ning will suffer from guilt and Yan Li will be inconsolable.

Sacrificial lamb pretty boy Yan Li almost got skewered by the perpetrator who was fascinated by his unblemished body. No wonder Ning's got a thing for him. The painter runs out of options, Mr. Li says 'case closed, Chi chases after provisions while Wan sets her sight on a dreamboat.

Wait a Sect, it doesn't seem healthy to join an organization the focuses on human sacrifice and makes you take a piece of your heart to leave their auspices. The member/victim who was interrogated in jail is a good actor (saw him in other dramas). I'm sure Wan will get to the bottom of this case but why bother grilling a fish if you're not going to eat it. I hate all that court prattle and intrigue and wish it would just go away. Glad to see that Li was not flayed and that Ning disolves in tears when she finds him alive in the brothel.

Gruesome! No wonder everyone is puking again. It's hard to face what humans can be capable of doing. We're all hoping the victim is not who we have been made to believe he is.

I agree with some of the reviewers. Episode 8 goes completely off the rails and stopped watching. The male lead is a scrumptious darling and the female lead started off cute and smart and then devolved. I can't rate this because somebody decided ruin what started out as an enjoyable drama.

It's tough for Crown Princes to stay on top of the heap when there are a lot of wannabes. Intricate schemes almost cause multiple casualties. Wan has to to heart surgery with x-ray precision after nearly getting knocked off herself. This foreign princess seems to get away with it as neither the emperor nor Chi punish her murderous rage.

Jealousy is the theme here. I guess when they have no accomplishments of their own, women act out against those of their sex who have self-determination, knowledge and generosity toward others.

Luckily Cupid was generous enough with his arrows to find Chi's heart too and make it throb.

The blood ruby and the little white fox are treasures presented by foreign lands seeking the Emperor's favor. Wan is busy treating the Empress Dowager's ill wind condition and gets rewards galore. Chi becomes one of the prizes to be won by some exotic princess in an archery contest. Wan better hope her arrows go astray.

Child abuse has consequences, but not everyone who is abused turns into necrophilic murderer and cross-dressing is mostly a benign pastime. Pomp and pageantry during the New Years' celebrations at court. It's hard to follow all the palace intrigues between empress and concubine and their respective offspring. The young noble ladies are also in competitive mode. Wan and Ning are amused as they watch the play. Chi is busy strutting his stuff and bolstering the emperor's ego.

"Revenge is a dish best served cold". This phrase by author Pierre Choderlos de Laclos seems appropriate here. Four corpses for Wan to deal with in this episode and she gives them her all. The murderer has just cause and a beautiful voice to sing opera. Most of the minor characters only manage to get drunk and/or vomit from hangover or watching the coroner remove various organs.

Ep. 16 it's time to party. The stage is set. The players are in place, let the performance begin. Ladies are ardent participants, while the males on display strut their stuff; be it wealth or valour.

Ep. 15 asks can ice be melted by hot passion? The heart surgeon's motto was 'practice makes perfect' except it didn't. Fraught with tension this episode was a long struggle to hold on to sanity and firm ground. The tug of war between life and death was never-ending but it was fought by valiant souls and they emerged victorious. Now we hope that love prevails.

Ep 14 I'm gutted about how this drama is putting all the women in danger. YanChi is galloping off on some useless pursuit while Wan is digging up carcases and possibly her own grave.

Hypothermia can kill you if you're exposed to the cold too long. Luckily a steamy bath lets us oogle YanChi's chest again and can help unthaw frostbite but the rest of his frame he is determined to cover up to keep ShenWan guessing . The herbal garden is full of mysteries and potential danger. Her Seniors don't seem all they are cracked up to be.

Ep. 12 is the trip North to the Capital. It gets really cold and white with snow, but that's not the only chill in the air. Getting shelter at Dr. Sun's place looks fraught with danger. Are there really 'mosters' or is it just more human caused evil? His Highness better gird his loins and squeeze his horse's flanks to prepare for times ahead. The drama really has great visuals and the soundscapes make it properly creepy.

Ep. 11 starts out with flames take engulf the Qin residence and dole out well-deserved justice. Case closed? Plans are made to head to the Capitol. His Highness experiences some jealousy and tries to be the type of man she admires, but a new admirer arrived to escort her.
