Just a third of the way through the drama. Taking it slow and savouring it. Drinking and Dancing done well. Lucious lips are moving ever closer. It's time to let down your hair. Couples are getting to know each other and having a good time.
Blood Sport. As in, whatever it takes to win the battle. The General dances to his tune when needed and he powers up when she is in peril. After all the fun is had she gets to unravel his bandages to give us a much needed look at this bare chest. Thank you General.
Ep. 11 There is magis in the air. The General likes her heroes flaming hot. When does she/he find out he's Prince Annan and if they've said how he gained his superpowers I must have missed it. I know a story about a General has to have a lot of Battles, but I long for them to have some down-time.
I'm loving this. Historical cooking shows are my favorites. I also like Captivating the King where the skill of the 'female' lead just took the King out of his comfort zone. Can't wait til the 4th episode tomorrow. I know she won't let the other cooks lose and arm. Concubine Kang is a pain and so is the Dowager.
Because the besotted fool needs to truly feel the consequences. Having the blood of your crush's life long friend…
I looked up his past dramas and think I will give Adventure Behind the Bronze Door a go. The other character that I felt should have had more of a backstory is the lead's guard Feinu. Anyway, I'm moving on to Shadow Love.
My best advice to newcomers:DON'T READ ANY REVIEWS, JUST JUMP IN, AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!I was gonna write, it all…
Agree with you about this drama. Despite some flaws, it deserves a higher rating for the story, the acting, the action, the production, the costumes, the music and the devotion between the main leads.

You make a good point. I found myself feeling sorry for Chu at times (his good looks helped) as he seem to go through a genuine conversion about what he was being asked to do in service of his master. It would have been better if he had responded to the devotion of his very capable handmaiden.
Why kill off Yan He? Is it because somebody has to be sacrificed then why not the besotted fool that caused the military disaster? The Emperor has some serious problems with plum blossoms. Xiao is ambidexterous, actually all his limbs are weapons. here we have the female hero arriving to the rescue on a white horse. Swordplay as foreplay. A long walk to the altar follows, then some horsing around in the moonlight. Fade out. The End.
Ep. 34 Zilan looks good with red (bloody) lips but his heart is black with jealousy. Something snap in his mind when the sugar figure He Yan made for him crumbled. His majesty is being deliberately cruel to expect such a sacrifice from on or the other of them. He can't possibly be suspicios of their power given his past relationship Xiao and her indisputable loyalty.
Ep 33 Rewards and Punishment. He Rufei has a fit and the deposed Chancellor kicks the bucket. Pingping finds out her father is a traitor and Chu Zhao loves the heroic general. The heroic general is in love with the other heroic general who looks very tasty.
Ep. 32 was really full of exposition: Treason no less. It's all coming out in the wash in front of the Emperor. He Yan presents her three crimes against He Rufei and the Chancellor. Her mother brings the incriminating letters at fatal cost to herself. Other witnesses give details of the crimes committed. Even Chu repents serving this vile master.
Ep. 31 He Rufei has the goods on the Chancellor and in a murderous funk. He Yan is going 'home' to claim what's rightfully hers. Mr. Chu is still on the fence. What strikes me about this drama is how beautiful the costumes are. I'm totally taken with Mr. Chu's ginko leaf decorated garment.
Ep 29 The prerequisite boring banquet troup starts the action which quickly gets more intense. He Hufei gets hot under the collar. That only gets worse when is gets his a** handed to him in a contest in front of his Majesty. Then it's time for rewards and punishment. Can He Yan overcome the crime of cross-dressing? The evil plotters are on a tear, so we await the royal decree.
Ep. 28 still slugging away to finish this. Feinu has finally come into his own. getting He Yan a place to stay in the Capitol and fighting the assassins at the Inn. I've always wondered why he was alway just used to bring messages and take away orders, never had a back story of any kind. I worry that this means it's his last hurrah.
Jeez, just started this and didn't expect all this mumbo jumbo. Was expecting a straight military conflic drama. Here is our ML stripped down to his bare chest twice and the episode is barely halfway. What's a Linglong? and why has it turned him into a precocious kid. He's flirting his way into the General's heart. Is there a silver lining to all this?
