Just started this as I was finishing The Wanted Detective (good). Great start to this saga of another woman wronged in Cdrama land. She is a worthy lead and will, no doubt, take on her foes.
Ep. 27 Descent into hell by elevator while holding hands. There's a guy carrying a princely load who likes to break wind. Our lovey-dovey couple manage to convince him to give them a map to a non-existent place where no one dares to go but the road looks well-travelled and the fauna is impressive.
Ep. 25 is explosive. In hot pursuit our heroes head for the mountain. On the way there they are confronted by fog which is very confusing because one minute they are going through a regular forest the next minute they are going through a bamboo forest. Tong is rescued just before he is forced to swallow something and the disciple with the mole under his eye takes a flying leap into a rockface, What a prat.
Arguments and reminicenses take up most of episode 22, but will they get us out of this dilemma? Zhong is being made a scapegoat and the father and son team are taking a victory lap. With the feckless majesty giving them cart blanche so by way of some jade token she is headed for a beheading. Beiming seems incapable of mounting an exit strategy even though he promised when he was barely a todler (cute) to always protect her. Here he decides to show up at the execution site and offer himself up instead. Then proceeds to take more poison. What a bright idea (sarcasm).
Ep. 21 As someone who regularly gets acupuncture, the Golden Needle treatment was pretty scary but if it gets Beiming his mojo back I'm all for it. Zhong is left speechless when the Old Bug threatens her lover and then again when she's accused of having burned him into cinder. Does anyone really believe Old Bug is dead?
Ep. 20 Zhong and Zhuge are in competition. just like he was with Beiming. They need to find Old Bug and get the cult leader back to find out who is the guy really calling the shots here and doing all that string theory to the victims. Besides who besides Old Bug might be capable of curing our hero. I'm truly tired of seeing a pale, totally sucked of all vitality Beiming and on top of that now he's disappeared.
Ep. 19 Blood letting can only go on so long and then it's curtains. They are on the trail but it's a long way to get to the abattoir and all the people in vats. Feng is so pale but his mouth is still constantly moving. The masked master is eventually subdued but hung up and being interogated he knows from nothing. Beiming dove for the pill which looked a little hard to swallow, Is this his miracle cure?
Ep. 17 is full of forboding - From corpse oil to ghost escort wagons; it all gets explained but it's still creepy. Luckily there's a bit of comedy relief when they make giant pills to extract confessions. Hothead Tong nearly gets Feng decapitated. Beiming is still suffering from frostbit. How long can he carry on?
Yes I'm rating every episode I watch and can't figure out what's going on. At one point it was over 8 and then it dropped when the drama just keeps getting better.
Ep 12. I can never resist the Ghost Market in dramas because visits there are made out of desparation and it's so bizarre. The cicada is priceless, the limping doctor is deceitful and can make your eyes wide shut. Frosty will need more than a handwarmer to keep him from spitting up blood.
Ep. 10 Treading Water. This case does not seem to be moving the plot forward. I'm not enjoying the female lead teaming up more with the Zhuge guy than our handsome Detective. It seems so obvious the disciple with the gloves is in some relationship with the wife of the victim unless we are totally being gaslighted and it's the daughter and her mom that are the killers.
Ep. 9 Self--strangulation? That's got to be a first. The facial hairs do not do this handsome face justice. Pleae get rid of them ASAP, although the Huo daughter seems mesmerized by the lead despite the fuzz (or maybe because of it). Love the coroner/poisoner's character. There is obviously hanky-panky going on in this murderous household.
I'm really upset that this great drama keeps going down in ratings. This score is not indicative of the quality of the acting, action and intricate storyline.
Ep. 8 Another corpse needs to be examined. The art of the steal helps our heroes hold off the family members who want to bury the secrets quickly. The body shows signs of asphyxiation by no ligature marks on the neck. The male lead is still on the wanted list. I wonder why he doesn't get himself one of those skin masks to he doesn't have to constantly hide himself, but then we wouldn't be able to enjoy the handsome Wang Xing Yue's countenance.
Now she's sorry but he's on his last legs with Frost in his veins. The mystery to finds Yesha leads us to the slaughter of a whole town on the border. Someone is issueing death sentences from behind a mask. This is getting a beloved teacher killed in the most tasteless way. His Majesty has a short fuse and demands an answer in a month. Who will close the case and who will be exonerated? I guess it won't be our lead because this drama is called The Wanted Detective.
Tunnel Vision could be the title of ep. 6. The perpetrator is hell-bent on needling everyone including himself. Then we have another cliffhanger with the FL believing she has now become a widow due to her ridiculous belief the man she has loved for ten years killed her father and countless others. The little poisoner is totally distraught at what he has done to the hero who has saved his life several times. Then there is Zhuge, whose spiteful jealousy of just not being good enough is becoming farcical.
Plenty of action by the female lead while the Detective is suffering periods of weakness from the poison. The maidens are sacrificial lambs to some kind of candle-carrying cult. Another guy in a wheelchair who is evil. This is getting to be a regular trope in Cdramas. I'm five episodes in and it's great why is the rating dropping like flies.
After three years they meet again and he looks hotter than ever. She's cold to his charms still suspecting him to be the Tailor. Still she only wounds and poisons him enough to barely keep him alive. After hearing his theory that another murder of a bride will take place tonight she sets out to find he is good at predictions and that probably means he is not the murderer of her father and the others. Now what? They've know each other for ten years, they got married and she still doesn't trust him. This woman has issues.
