Well, it's done for now. A very good drama (story, acting, sets) so far in my estimation. I thought CXs love for XY was just a tad too incestuous. The most amusing character was XL and obviously she thought so too. Her deep love for Jing was well deserved as he is an entirely upstanding character who was given the dirty end of the stick by his murderous brother, his creepy grandmother, and his cheating wife. I hope things go better for him in the second season.
Something about older MLs gets to me in a good way Lol. They're just so handsome and dependable idk. Some of my…
I'm really enjoying this as well and agree with you about older Mls especially the ones you mentioned as well as Wallace Chung in The Sword and the Brocade and other dramas.
I hate having to watch another evil, old dowager whose lipstick bleeds into her face. She's got it in for Liu Yan and now she's going after our sweet Zhuo Hua. Keep your claws off her.
Only watched four episodes so far but am enjoying the lively, lovely female lead and the world-weary Lord Ding who the maid claims had 'coital difficulties' which is worrying for any future romance.
To be fair, that reviewer isn't generally a fan of xianxias these days to begin with. So I don't think her opinion…
Maybe we're all just looking for like-minded people. Though sometimes after hearing a thoughtful review I might go back and try again. In this case I was attracted to it for the ML as I had seen him in a number of other dramas previously. I watched AvenueX's take on her recent review. I do appreciate those that take the time to give a detailed review, like the one by Lutien below where they express how they felt seeing it as compared to their experience of reading it.
Do you know everyone has different preferences right? Just like I couldn’t get pass episode 1 of Legend of Anle…
You're right I over rated Legend of Anle because I really like her boisterous character in the first part of the drama, but found it got slow and boring later on.
How is this rated at 8.3? I couldn't even get past episode 2 and just hears a scathing review of someone who tried to give it a chance for fourteen episodes.
So sad, my two favs are heartbroken in ep 36 and are now 'strangers'. CX is comforting his 'sister' but who is she really? Xun Yue has gone off the rails and suddenly decides she no longer loves CX. That vixen Yin Ying is carrying someone else's bun in her oven. Will this be revealed?
While a bit repetative, I did enjoy the drama. Mostly, it was great to discover a very likable male lead (will be looking for his other work) and the supporting actors added a nice touch.
That was a long build up to a bust. I made my own ending. He went back into the hawthorne coffin and since he only needed another day in there to become human, he got out after 24 hours and got on with life at Shady Oaks.
ep 33 'Brother' can only clench his fist as he watches how XY shows her love for Jing. But now that grandma is spitting blood she can hold a knife to his throat and make him dance to her tune.
The last two episodes were something of a shell game with two of our main character is a coma - CX was on pins and needles, XL was nursing her back from death's door while poor Jing's wick was sputtering and heading for lights out. Action please.
