While waiting for new episodes of this drama, I'm watching Rakshasa Street (2017) on the side. It's much older and therefore looks way cheaper, but it's surprisingly entertaining. It reminds me even more of I Am Nobody than this one does, because it doesn't take itself so seriously and the characters are all completely over the top. It's like watching a shônen anime. 😂 If you have the time, give that one a chance as well. It's free on Youtube. 😄

Apparently, there'll be a spin-off movie streaming soon with young Zhang Haike and young Zhang Nian as main characters. The name is 雪夜凶灯 or Xue Ye Xiong Deng (which roughly translates to 'An Ominous Light in a Snowy Night'). There's no official English title yet.

He's not the patriarch, though. He's just a guy who stumbled across a hidden, very powerful family (the Zhangs) by chance and/or fate and who was – understandably – a bit miffed about the fact that they're both kind of immortal (and keeping that immortality for themselves) and have been influencing the course of history for a long time, which is why he decides to set a plan in motion that will bring them down some day. Which is only fair, I guess, because the Zhangs are mostly a**holes (with maybe 5 exceptions), as proven once again in "Tibetan Sea Flower".
So I'm just super curious to see which parts of that story make it into this drama. :)
What a talent. Although his role in 'Adventure Behind the Bronze Door' was rather small, his performance was both beautiful and heartbreaking. ❤ Can't wait to see him again as Wu Xie some day.

My post wasn't about THIS drama but what the original story was about.
But 'wait and see' should be our mantra here.
In the end we're still only speculating as long as this hasn't been released yet. :)
