One of my favorite things about this community is how quickly new fans change their profile picture to cql related…
Yess I second that. The fact I changed mine from Hyun Bin to cql is a huge deal :D
If I'm changing it, it'll be another cql related one
Heck I forgot the last time I was this active in MDL

Episode 36 is absolutely one of my favorite episodes!! Drunk lwj is just too adorable and I want to put him in…
Yess!! When Wei Wuxian asked him if he likes rabbits, the way Lan Zhan's eyes widened and a cute little smile appeared! OMG so cute I just want to take care of him and pat him too!
I can't imagine anyone else playing drunk Lan Zhan. He was made to play this role! Imagine when there was a chance of him not playing the roles because of his idol look/picture. Thank god they saw him in person!

Not sure if your question about chickens being an ancient traditional wedding gift in China is a rhetorical question;…
So the clever makers of the drama tried to show Lan Zhan's character as the 'bride'? Since chicken is "considered dowry as a symbolic item to “lead” the bride to her new home"

HOLY CRAP! I cannot stop laughing! In ep 36 when Wei Wuxian called Wen Ning and drunk Lan Zhan appeared , the way Wen Ning was running with those chains? I lost my lung laughing XD
And OMG the chickens!! I know that in Chinese Zodiac, Chicken/rooster is seen as a symbol of honesty! Soooo does that mean not only was he confessing his true feelings but he was proposing? My partner was telling me that chickens are used in some area of China for marriage/wedding rituals. Does that mean what I think it means??
And how can I forget the scene when Lan Zhan went from "I'm drunk" to "oh shit time to protect my wife/husband" mode real quick LOL

Okay. You guys. I finished it. I cannot describe what I'm feeling right now. I dont know how to describe the greatness…
@lifeispeachy

LOL that literally cracked me up! Imagine being sandwiched between those two!

That's really cool. At least you were able to go there. How was it if you don't make me asking? I have so many plans to visit the countries in East Asia. But because of the pandemic, everything has been out the window.

I will say it's nothing like CQL but if you're in the mood for strong female who can kick ass, then definitely go for it. It's still one of my favorite. Give it a try when you're out of this drama slump hehe.

Haha. This drama bought out the fangirl in me like when I first started watching dramas. Heck even more intense than I was young so don't worry I'll be here :)

I know exactly what you mean. I wish I can read the hard copy as well. Hell this drama is making me want to learn Chinese characters.

Ha I believed I started in 09 and it's been nonstop since then. Yes I was a huge fan of OST of Princess man as well! And The Moon Embracing The Sun and Empress Ki. But CQL is something else entirely. It's in its own criteria that no can match upto.

Yup. I have dramas I have to catch up with as well but uh they took back burner...

Just an advice: Have the BGM on while reading the novel. It's so good! Let me know how you like it :D

I wonder though is there any chance of doing them anything together ever again after that so called stupid 'scandal'…
I have never thought of it like that. Interesting and true!

At the same time, I feel it raises awareness. Because celebrities are humans as well but sometimes some intense fans usually forget about that.

So the sequencing is a little different in the novel than in the drama. See in the drama, they show the present and then they show the past in one sitting and then it transitions back to present. In the novel, it goes back and forth. So in the novel I'm ahead for the 'present' but behind for the 'past'. Sorry if it sounds confusing. Once you start reading, it'll make sense :)

Yes!! They make me cry! I think this is my 12th/13th year of watching dramas and no OST has made my cry just by listening to it!!! I can't even watch any other dramas right now because I know none of them will be like CQL T__T

I'm reading the novel on the side as well. After I finish the drama and the novel, I'm going to rewatch the drama and the special edition.

Sorry for posting so much everyone but damn this drama!
What a difference from the first episode when they showed Wei Wuxian falling down the cliff to the same scene in episode 32! Not only did all the emotions hit me (Yup I couldn't stop crying) but the detailed expression shown are so different! This time Jiang Cheng's pain could be seen so clearly! And this is what I thought. He was so angry, he hit the rock but didn't want to actually kill Wei Wuxian. We all know how his temper is. But on the first episode it seemed as if he's the who pushed Wei Wuxian down the cliff. Not to mention, Lan Zhan's emotions were so much more! Regret and pain from not being able to save him T__T

Fast forward to episode 35, 16 years later, when Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan was playing their instruments together, Excuse my language but HOLY SHIT...Lan Zhan smirked!! Yes I already died and went to heaven by watching the scene where LZ carried WW on his back. (Yes I did notice that they kept the scene even though Xiao Zhan and Wang Yi Bo couldn't stop laughing when doing this scene XD). Then that smirk came out of nowhere! Someone save me!!

Also I wanted to say thanks to China's censorship. Thanks to the censorship, Xian Zhan and Wang Yibo was able to deliver some of the most beautiful love scenes imaginable. Lan Zhan instantly noticing Wei Ying's slow ascent of the stairs, sensing the spell-injured leg, referring to an intimate moment in their past, then tenderly swinging Wei Ying onto his back, descending the stairs, faces almost touching, talking about how Lan Zhan recognized the reincarnated Wei Ying. (The melody, of course.) Such exquisite intimacy.

I also realized how important the flue scene was because of the background music- the Lotus Pier theme song! Lotus Pier used to be where Wei Wuxian was most relaxed; he could be fully himself there. It was his source of joy and comfort. But after turning to demonic cultivation, he sadly could no longer return to Lotus Pier... This scene is extremely important because when Lan Zhan hands the flute over to WWX, it shows that he fully accepts WWX for who he is, demonic cultivation and all. Lan Zhan is the person who WWX can be most relaxed around; he is WWX's source of joy and comfort now. He is his home!!

I apologize if I'm posting and writing too much. I can't help it...

I've only seen 4 episodes and I'm wondering if it gets any better since I'm kind of struggling to continue watching…
That was the case for me but after episode 7 or 8, I fell into the rabbit hole ^_^
I would recommend you to watch until episode 10 to see if it's to your liking :)

There was also a part in that episode as Wei Wuxian was dropping off Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian was telling him: "let self judge right and wrong, leave others comments aside and care little about gain and loss" . Lan Zhan closed his eyes after that. In this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkaD_6QWkGs
If you go to 24:14. (Don't worry I'm not watching the special edition yet. Just couldn't find a separate link :) )

Question: On episode 29, it showed Lan Zhan front of a pavilion kneeling down holding something for a long time. Is that him getting punished for going into burial mound? Tsh tsh he knew this was gonna happen and he still wanted to see where Wei Wuxian lives T___T

On that same episode, when Wei Wuxian was dropping off Lan Zhan as he was leaving, he closed his eyes for a bit but then A Yuan came and held onto his legs. Was that him trying not to cry after keeping so much feelings inside of him?

Yes and also the rain touching his face symbolizing he's ready to embrace the reality!

I love love how the makers put so many thought behind each scene! It shows their dedication on point!

Hmm I actually didn't think about that. You are correct. It might be that Lan Zhan is admitting his feelings but at the same time he knows it's not in their fate to be together because ultimately Wei Young will die?

Also the scene when he asked Lan Xichen if he can hide away a man...that was a huge clue as well! Wei Young definitely knows how much Lan Zhan cares for him. That scene in ep 26 during the hunt, both Yanli and Lan Zhan was there next to him to support him. And like you said he rather would want to be killed by Lan Zhan. In a way I feel like he said that because he knew he liked Lan Zhan at that time. When Wei Young asked Yanli about 'liking someone', that's the first thought that popped into my head or else why would he ask that.
