@CqlisMdzs I'm actually done with the book and I'm reading the extra chapters. But I definitely agree with you. I have to say I love CQL more than the novel. Yes of course without the novel, CQL would've never happened. I think Wei Ying's trauma is something the CQL did better than the novel, mostly because of the structure of the novel, where events are told out of order, so you see Wei Ying as Yiling Patriarch before knowing how he got there. There are many other reasons as well but I will have to make a separate post for that which I will soon :)
Here's a humorous, but pretty accurate parody of WangXian's escape from Koi Tower :)https://twitter.com/IncorrectCQLsub/status/1213354373193048064Tbh,…
@Syd If he did injure his lip during filming, you'd think they would try to hide it with makeup. But the fact they didn't and left it for the fans interpretation...that's what I call being pure genius!

@Joryenai Thank you so much for the links! They give me more lives!
The blink and miss moment...HOLY CRAP! No I did not notice them! How have I been so blind?! Someone pinch me! So after the Jinghsi scene, when they were meditating and Wei Ying was falling asleep, it wasn't because of how boring it was but because of "nibbling cabbages". I mean in the book Lan Zhan is like a steel rod so I understand why he wasn't tired but Wei Ying, it makes so much sense now...I'm dying inside right now!
I actually went back 12 days ago post and couldn't find it. But no worries, I shall find it. I'm just too excited about how you opened my eyes to more WangXian moments!
When I love something, I try to take my time with it and analyze it as much as I can on my first watch so that way my 2nd and 3rd time and so on, I'll able to watch it with more perspective :)
So many great scenes in episode 42/43!! Loved loved how Lan Zhan finally confessed his love for Wei Ying (Don't even tell me they're just friends). The world literally melts away so they can have their conversation before they starting fighting their way out again hehe. It was absolutely fascinating because they already started running off together but when they get surrounded? Wei Ying pushes Lan Zhan away, as if that’ll save him (reminded of the cliff scene where he hurls himself back to propel Lan Zhan back onto more stable ground?). Buttttt Lan Zhan being Lan Zhan refutes what JGY says. He wasn’t able to put his trust fully in Wei Ying before and wholeheartedly stand by him back then, but like damn if he’s not standing with him now. He doesn’t even state the original query directly, only alludes to it. And his answer is: "The feeling of walking down a single-log bridge until it’s dark.. indeed isn’t so bad", which I personally take this as a second declaration/affirmation by LZ that he’s standing with WY no matter what. He’s made his choice now and he knows where his heart and his conscience lies, and that’s that. Another element I liked was the reputation part. We see many characters who are SO intent on reputation. But that's not what was important to Wangji. It’s not that Wangji is sacrificing anything with his move to stand by Wei Ying; in fact, he has more to lose by NOT doing so. He’s earned his reputation not because he cultivated it, but because his actions and convictions speak for themselves. It’s one of the ways I see Lan Zhan keeping the memory of Wei Ying alive in the 16 years, by keeping to and living by their lantern promise, to eliminate evil, protect the weak, keep a clear conscience and follow their heart. I think this whole exchange was incredibly powerful and speaks to how in tune with each other they’ve become. It was after this Wei Ying was able to open his heart to acknowledging and embracing the love and trust between the two of them.
As if that wasn't enough, we got to see the snowy Jingshi scene. Can anyone really tell me they're just friends after watching this scene? In this scene, Lan Zhan has casual hair where he lets his hair down. Is it because GusuLan Sect only let their hair down like that for their significant others like the concept of forehead ribbon?
And I felt there's a parallel between Lan Zhan/Wei Ying's story and Lan Zhan/Lan Xichen's parents. The story of how their mother "killed" her husband's teacher and how his father married her and locked her up to save her from the world. That reminded of what when Lan Zhan said to Lan Xichen once : "I want to bring someone to Cloud Recesses, and lock him away"
Another parallel scene was how Lan Zhan got the whipping scars. Didn't Wei Ying say once " that a man should get scars because it represents that he once protected someone, and that person will never be able to forget him"? The fact that Lan Zhan was punished for trying to protect Wei Ying and received the scars for him T___T
I don't know if you have noticed but XXC and Song Lan are presented as a sort of narrative parallels to our wangxian.…
Thank you for the links! I can definitely see it! Specially the scene where Song Lan is walking off with both swords on his back. At the same time I also see Xue Yang as someone who meant a lot to XingChen, not just Song Lan. I felt like he committed suicide not just because of his guilt for killing Song Lan but also because he couldn't bear the fact that the happy moments he genuinely spend with Xue Yang was just a ruse and fake. There's so much to their story!
I couldn't help but tear up in episode 39 when Zichan wrote "Roam this world with Frostwork, exorcise evil beings alongside XingChen" After they buried Ajing, Lan Zhan said "Fortunately" but they never let him finish his throught. Did he mean to say"Fortunately you are back. We are together"? Because in a way both XingChen and Wei Wuxian died after everything was taken away from them and there was no hope left. Did Lan Zhan or both of them realize that their situation could've ended up in a tragedy as well?
The verdict is here and it has been ruled as a "racing incident". Can't say I am surprised but let's move on from…
You know what this made me realize...seeing Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan happy, makes me happy. I'll get upset over these two getting a paper cut, that's how precious they are!
https://twitter.com/WangYiboUpdates/status/1313792860383182848 wow...I have no words. They were consumed by jealousy
I'm sorry I know I should calm down and not say this but apparently #18's team went to Yibo and said something along the line, "Look how great you are now". That's why he was mad....and his hand was bleeding :(((( I'm gonna stop and just say that I'm proud to be his fan. If you looked at his weibo update, he told his fans to not scold the other guy so that's what I'm gonna do. He 's a great guy who can take care of himself. FIGHTING yibo!
OMG YES! That was so not fair! It was such a dangerous curve. The other racer shouldn't have tried to overtake…
YEs!! Exactly!! That is not good sportsmanship at all! The fact that he couldn't practice much and he was trying his best but these other team member cheering because he fell or how #18 just...I wish I can express how mad I'm
WTH guys how can someone use such disgusting ways to compete in a competition....he could have got badly hurt…
Exactly what I said! OMG if you see other clips after the race finished and everyone's trying to hold him back, my heart broke! Poor baby! Yibo official just confirmed that they filed a complaint to the competition and they're waiting for decision so let's see what happens.
OMG YES! That was so not fair! It was such a dangerous curve. The other racer shouldn't have tried to overtake…
Holy SHIT!! Did you see the pic of the other racer who made Yibo fall from team18? After he was able to get up, he fist bumped with another team member from team 18! WTF! That is purely disgusting! Yibo could've seriously gotten hurt!
So here's what I think: It started off with tiny crush (oblivious stage) when he first Lan Zhan. Remember he just…
To be honest there are so many scenes before pre-resurrection that made me think he knew he has feelings for Lan Zhan, but their situation was too much and they had way much to think about specially WWX. I still believe there's a reason why he asked Yanli about 'what does it mean to like someone'. After post- resurrection, it was more obvious to WWX that he loves Lan Zhan, They're able to spend more time with each other and WWX can see how Lan Zhan loves him.
Anyone watched yibo's race? My heart was in my mouth the entire time ;-; Poor baby ;-;
OMG YES! That was so not fair! It was such a dangerous curve. The other racer shouldn't have tried to overtake him at that point! After he tried to start the bike, when he couldn't and he kicked the ground, I felt so mad and upset! I'm just glad atleast he's safe and didn't get hurt :(
So I lost my phone today...instead of worrying about my credit card info and everything else, I'm upset about how I won't able to hear my beautiful ringtone for a while (it is Wuji flute version) and how I won't able to look at my beautiful wall paper whenever I turn on my phone and so many other pictures….got my priorities straight people XD
At what point do you think cql!wwx first realized that he liked lwj? The very first moment where went "my god,…
So here's what I think: It started off with tiny crush (oblivious stage) when he first Lan Zhan. Remember he just stops talking when LWJ walks into the frame the first time at the entrance to Cloud Recess. Then next thing you know, he's back to talking non-stop. Then in episode 9 or 10 was it (I have to watch it again), in the flower petal shower scene, after WWX joked that LWJ is an unparalleled elegant gentleman, he stopped and smiled at LWJ. Makes me think he finally realized how handsome LWJ is. Then at that hunting episode, where WWX asks LWJ who he is to him. He wanted LWJ to answer him in a way that would hurt his feelings but instead LWJ gave a direct answer which made WWX made him question about his own feelings (maybe realize his love/like) .
But I think it sealed the deal for WWX when he sees LWJ would sacrifice his arm so that he won't fall.
I have to watch more so I can analyze but that's what I have from watching it once so far without watching all the episodes.
Not sure if your question about chickens being an ancient traditional wedding gift in China is a rhetorical question;…
@Joryenai Thank you! It makes much more sense now. There are so many different customs of dowry all over the world but at least the Chinese version is clear now. Yes I did see the article mentioning how lotus seed is part of the blessing items that symbolizes the wish for groom and bride to have children...even though I haven't seen the scene yet, I can't stop grinning like an idiot. Thank you :)
