Exactly! Such a huge difference right? He had to use microexpression to express everything he was feeling in CQL whereas here dialogues and his expressions are very much evident! He's awesome :D

I'm not sure if you watched CQL-The Untamed yet but if you see the character Yibo played there, it is a drastic difference. The expression and the dialogues are completely different and yet he's pulling both off so well. Also Yibo's personality in real life is very different from the character he is playing here hence there's no doubt when it comes to his acting skill :) I'm relatively new to C-drama/Wuxia land so I have a lot to learn but it doesn't look or sound bad to me. But as you said hopefully this drama will suppress our hope and come out to be amazing.

I personally feel it'll be Lan Shizui. Even though he was a Wen, he has the characteristics of a Lan who can carry the responsibilities of a sect leader. Yesss! The drama shows that love can be shown and felt without saying the words “I love you,” and sometimes it’s trailing off sentences that imply more than they are able to say. Every interaction was heightened between them, validating the idea for me that this is one of the most epic love stories I have ever witnessed. It isn’t every day you see a slow burn like this, and fully enjoy it until the end.
Another reason why I think CQL elevated MDZS: the relationship between WangXian. CQL managed to show how pure the love between Wei Ying and Lan Zhan without showing the physical components (which I admit is part every romantic relationship of course). CQL emphasized more on emotional developments of a relationship than the physical component of it. The interactions between them transcends the limitations allowed in the script, as seen in the actor’s choices when delivering not only lines, but body language choices and implications behind movement in general. And if I remember correctly in CQL, WangXian admitted to seeing each other as one's soulmate pre-resurrection whereas in MDZS, WWX believed Lan Zhan didn't like him, let alone see him as someone important. Just my two cents thought :)
