i am still mad at Moonlit Reunion production coz they used him as first billed to get investments to only see him as a support actor in a "female centric" drama 🙄. they didnt bother to explore Mei Zhuyu's hidden strength/abilities, his past, his families, his sect, intead they gave alot of screentime on the demon side which mostly are forgetable and trashes.
i havent finish SOTB yet coz i dont buy express but from all the reactions, it seems to be the same case all over again. as per episode 26 that i watched, they also dont bother to explore on Shen Run's past and his revenge. they wasted alot of screentime on the Xie family instead of given it to bigger political revenge plot from Shen Run's side. but to be very honest, my expectation of his screentime in SOTB is already low, thanks to all the dispute during filming, so suprisingly i was not as mad as during MR promo 😅
yes, the good side of SOTB is people love his character. Shen Run & Yan Rui are both iconic. sadly this is the opposite of what happened to Mei Zhuyu. Xukai did very well potraying MZY's aloof character, but since those ppl love loud, overbearing male leads, they blame on Xukai acting instead (they are just plain stupid, i know). and because of MZY less screentime, they hate on Xukai for being useless and according to them, TXW alone was carrying the drama. im so mad because of the cheating production and their stupidity to appreciate the character, XK got unnecessary hate 😤
to me, if his screentime is lesser than the female lead in a TRUE female centric drama, i wont complain at all. look at SAHPH and BCE, they promoted those dramas properly as it is. no cheating on Xukai's fans and the investors, no angry alasos.
