actually in my country it is not weird at all if you find ppl converse in two different languange, coz not everyone who understand english can speak english fluently, or confidently, so he speak his native language (for eg, mandarin) and the english speaker happen to understand mandarin but not fluent, he reply back in english and the conversation goes on..
