Goodness. I'm so glad I didn't rely on the MDL comment section before deciding to watch this drama. I loved it, and I became a HUGE Huang Xuan fan because of it (and am currently scouring his other dramas). To each his (or her) own.
I think it's a lot easier for people to just sympathize with Ayan because he is the one with the best intentions…
The original trailer showed Akk having a breakdown in the shower, I hope it translates over into the newly edited version of the show (or is shown elsewhere). I agree how important it is for us to see that happen.
I stumbled upon the original trailer, and man, it was dark! I hope some of those scenes made it to the reshoot(if that's what happened?). There's a scene in the shower when Ayan and Akk are emotional, which was heartbreaking. It would be sad not to see that play out. Same with the scene when Ayan says he would choose Akk, and Akk says he hates him (and we watch Ayan's face utterly fall apart in tears). I hope those scenes made it through.
This show has some issues with plot, it really feels like more of an emotional character drama than the fantasy…
I think you've misunderstood what the plot is. The Eclipse is about liberation and coming of age and how the youth realizes that "traditional values" can be discriminatory, especially to the young LGBTQ+. They have a hard time coming out and accepting themselves because of it. The eclipse symbolizes how the old beliefs can cast a "shadow" upon generations if it continues (all notes from the original book's author). If anything, the trailer may have made that a bit misleading, but I assume it was intentional, as is the gullibly suspicious students, so we peel back the actual meaning with time.
If they troll us again, I will be seriously pissed.
Deleted my comment- I rewatched the preview to find the clip I was talking about and realized the fake-out kiss on the boat was the one I was thinking of.
These cliff hangers are frustrating. The preview for this episode (7) had some scenes that werent even present, so that felt a bit misleading. Love the show so far though.
Akk and Ayan are both gorgeous. The way the sun hits their faces on the beach 😍. Lots of people commenting on Ayan, but mannnn, i couldnt stop staring into Akks big puppy eyes, and his lips are 🤯🤯.
He used the real tiger tally (the one he'd recovered when the crown prince lost it) to deploy the troops to keep…
Not sure I understand. As in, he used the soldiers to keep other people safe? I'm sure that's inferred since he's keeping everyone away from the manor that isn't a Ling, and he wouldn't want to hurt anyone innocent. Still, he used them as a blockade to prevent interference from his revenge (and to get CP in trouble). He admitted as much when he spoke to the Emperor about it
Wu Lei and Lusi's acting in epis 46-47 is just incredible, especially the part in epi 47 where they make the oath.…
Viki had a context note that said its a blood oath/blood promise. Something that cannot be broken. The deepest vow you can make with another person. That was how I read it in the novel too, although it was Zisheng who initiated it in the book. I liked the softer drama adaptation with CSS initiating. Especially when he was in that lonely and broken mind-state during that scene. I wanted to see her extend herself emotionally for him since he's always the one there for her, so it was nice for me to see such a strong vow of love.
Regarding the tally it was inferred they were going to get original tally / seal back. If they didn't the one…
They did follow thru- I don't remember who said it in the drama, but HBY retrieved the original seal (that scene was either edited out or just happened "off camera") and it was the original seal that was used to deploy the troops under false order by CP. CSS has the Huo family seal and returned it to HBY when she left him as he was leaving for the border. That was what was returned to him via her twin brother.
when they said HBY used the real tiger tally to deply the army / troops, what troops and for what?I rewatched…
He used the real tiger tally (the one he'd recovered when the crown prince lost it) to deploy the troops to keep everyone away from Ling Yi's house. The soldiers CSS and her family ran into on their way to the manor were the troops HBY had deployed (falsely under the CP's name). It served 2 purposes - to keep anyone from interfering with his plan to massacre the Ling family, and to taint CP's name so he gets deposed from his position as CP.
Wow, just look at Baek Ji Won's character here. Ot is reeeaaaally different from the character she played in Extraordinary…
It was ultra strange for me to see her in this after just coming off her role in Tell Me What You Saw (a murderer suffering from deranged, trauma-based illusions).
