Emporer (mother hen) Wen is getting a lot of flak recently. Idk. I disagree with most of the dissent, and I (usually) adore him. He's not infallible or devoid of human emotions; he makes misjudgments, sometimes plays favorites, asks for guidance, and sometimes makes unpopular decisions required by his position. I don't think he made the wrong choice in imprisoning the Cheng household. What else was he to do? The evidence points to them, Cheng Shi is missing, and even if he doesn't believe it to be true, he still needs irrefutable proof to convince the court, so he's not accused of favoritism. He'll detain them, as he should by law, to appease the court/people until he can get to the truth. He's not just throwing them to the wolves blindly. He's got YS and the Ministry of Justice on it to find the truth. He's discussed as much with Consort Yue. I wish he'd allowed CSS to get involved knowing, as a viewer, how capable she truly is, but I also understand from his POV how ridiculous that would be, not to mention dangerous. I have many feelings about how he handled Marque Yue and how he's handling Peng Kun, but LBY said it himself; he made the right call as the Emporer concerning Marquis Yue. Still, since he's also a father figure to LBY, I can completely empathize with the hurt LBY must still feel and his need (and eventual unraveling) to find the greater truth behind his family's massacre.
When CSS tells him he can take his wings off, but he's to absolutely *never take off* his woven armor undergarment she made because it can protect him from blades, etc.
Love Between Fairy and Devil on iQiyi, Alchemy of Souls on Netflix, and Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist. The first…
I really love it. Its hard to describe the visuals outside of a....Renaissance fever dream? It's just very different from your normal run of the mill xianxia. Its aesthetically beautiful (costumes, hair, set design, CGI). The plot is also very fresh, with sprinkles of our normal delicious tropes, and I love the chemistry between our ML and FL (especially the BTS). Give it a few episodes! Some people have said Esther Wu's voice is a bit hard to listen to, but I warmed up to it quickly (and I'm normally hypercritical of that kind of thing). I just think its...a very refreshingly different cdrama and as a fan of Dylan Wang (even though he's still relatively green), I think this role is perfectly suited for him.
I Know that my comments will be about what 85 % of you have said, BUT - I just finished episode 41, and here's…
Agreed with all of the above! I also fervently agree that LBY is *not* using CSS. He's been scheming and calculating this whole time, the legal way, to try to find evidence against those who harmed his family and Gu City. I think what ultimately leads to his break down starts at Marquis Yue basically getting away with his atrocities with a slap on the wrist by the man LBY now considers his father. I really do think something broke in him. Still, he tries to follow the right route again by leading the troops to apprehend Peng Kun. Judging from the previews (and knowing what happens in the novel), his plan is constantly metamorphosizing into what it later becomes, and at some point, when he realizes there is no legal or moral way to get the justice he deserves, he chooses a path of no return and pushes her away to save her from his ruin. I think so many people misunderstand.
What are ya'll watching while waiting for more episodes?
Love Between Fairy and Devil on iQiyi, Alchemy of Souls on Netflix, and Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist. The first two mentioned are really great, I'm still trying to get into Poong (the ML is very very pretty).
There was a lot of rumored talk about there only being 6 kisses, but I guess we can say that rumor can be delightfully squelched. We're already at 6, and the trailers show there is at least 1 more. He kissed her 3x (forehead, mouth 2x), and she kissed him 3x (cheek, forehead, mouth). Perhaps the number was meant for mouth kisses, in which case we are due for 3 more. Either way, woop woop. It's the simple things in life.
Also, I've been feverishly waiting for LBY to *fully* smile or genuinely laugh at CSS (or anyone), and the ONE TIME I saw a full-toothed smile, his dang face is cut off by the camera, UGH. lol (talking about at the end of their conversation on the tower @ his camp when they talked about the land he got for them).

All I heard was FORESHADOWING.
